I don't find this song depressing. In fact, I think it's encouraging. With all that is evil going on in this world, I can find peace knowing that one day we will be going to our real and forever home with Lord. You guys look like a loving couple, by the way. God bless.

It's so refreshing to hear people talk about what is actually going on. I'm surrounded by so many who live in complete ignorance and like it that way.
Marian, it is so damn hard to speak freely lately. The overreaction from those in power is tremendous. They laugh at you, then they cancel you, then they jail you, then they "disappear" you. It is very difficult to simply be free.
But even before that became the norm, lack of community in large urban areas, shallowness and a society increasingly built on papier mache facades and stage dressing, not to mention unadulterated reverence of blind (almost if not actually) sociopathic greed as a social value had been an issue for decades prior....
...but my intent was not to quibble, I came back because I also liked the first one. Thank you for the great conversation and for sharing the song.
Dogs are very important for a vet's healing. I remember a line about young men putting themselves 6' in the ground in the first anthem. PTSD is real. I have watched ads for K9s for Warriors.
When hes talking about 4 generations farming. The land and the grandson comes and sells it to the man from out of town. That's what we're doing. We're selling this world to politicians and people who do not have our best interest. And there are the ones making the changes. That none of a slike As a Christian, I've always felt that this world we live in. Is nothing but a road trip from birth to death at the end of the road? All I want to do is go home my heavenly home.
I’ll give you an example of what the rich men do: my town just built a casino. Citizens did not want it. It was built anyway. NOW, it’s losing money because the reputation of the town is so bad. The taxpayers will pay for this mistake eventually through higher taxes. The local politicians have already collected their money when the casino was being built most likely through corrupt means. Politicians will move on to bigger and better things when the casino really fails. They’re gone! Taxes will be raised to pay for their crazy decisions!!! I’m leaving the town I loved and grew up in. I have to because of the policies. The middle class is getting screwed.

This young man is speaking from pain in his life. I wonder how many people feel this way. I know there are days when I pray that the Lord comes back and just take me home. I've never seen my country in such a horrible state and never thought I would.💗💗💗💗

Dan.. Read Psalm 73, a Psalm of Asaph.. He really sums up what Oliver is saying in this song.. Solomon does the same thing in Ecclesiates - "Meaningless, meaningless, ALL is meaningless" He declares to us that if "we only have hope in this world, we are to be pitied above all men." (1 Cor. 15:19)

There is so much profit to make in wars, as sad and simple as that sounds.
It's a difference between a life centered on a relationship with God, and one that is not. No hope, no peace, no joy - let alone grace, forgiveness, mercy, etc. (and I'm not referring to cults or abuse of power/self-righteousness)....and it also in a reaction to lack of family stability - which contributes to economic instability, poor education standards, etc. but the goal is ultimately to divide and conquer because it distracts from policies/actions that higher level groups are doing.
