My husband died 4 days following his vax. We were married 52 years. I rescued a dog who has given me as much as I've given him. When I'm home alone, he snuggles next to me and shows unconditional love. I know where Oliver is coming from when he sings.

I can't imagine the pain and longing for your husband.
James 1:27 Pure and undefiled religion before God and the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their trouble, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.

The man sings with the Lord's hand on his shoulder. There may just be a little divine intervention here and it's about damn time. The one thing we all share and lose every day is time. Some use it wisely, others squander it foolishly. Oliver has that rare gift to make us reflect with his mournful wailing cry for a time long gone. The bittersweet sentimentality in his voice will tear a hole right through your chest every single time. This kind of thing doesn't happen very often. I'm 58 years old and I've only seen something similar to this a few times. Relish this moment, it won't come again.

You asked for another comment so I will reply sir. We've been married 29 years, and are a single income family. First was the military...then I was injured after 13 years. I literally had to have them downgrade my disability just so I could Still work and provide for my wife and kids cause VA pensions are crap. So now 15 years later I'm finally middle management and stuck there cause I won't lie to climb a ladder. My income would be great 20 years ago...but it ain't enough...we are about to lose our house and it's only God, my wife, and my two (soon to be one :( dog)
How did this world get to this point where a guy with a nuclear degree and 35 years of work experience can't make it? I want to go home too. I won't punch my own ticket but I'm waiting desperately on the conductor while praying constantly.

Just remember that “dog” is “God” spelled backwards. I’ve had dogs my entire 70 years as well as other pets. I can’t imagine going through life without the companionship of a dog. This song by Oliver really hit hard as he was speaking my feelings. Great reaction!

I'm a 62 year old USAF Vet, recently forced to take retirement at the lowest scale. I sit at home with my dogs. I don't know where I'd be if it wasn't for them. I don't own a car and am pretty much trapped. The best way for me to "unwind" is to go to the woods, walk back in, sit, and take in the fresh air and nature's sounds. Public transportation doesn't get there.

A word of encouragement. King David had mighty men around him (37 in all) he gave courage to the people around him. As a youth had killed a giant.
1Sam. 22:1 David therefore departed from there and escaped to the cave of Adullam. So when his brothers and all his father’s house heard it, they went down there to him. 2 And everyone who was in distress, everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was discontented gathered to him. So he became captain over them. And there were about four hundred men with him.
2Sam. 23:8 These are the names of the mighty men whom David had: Josheb-Basshebeth the Tachmonite, chief among the captains. He was called Adino the Eznite, because he had killed eight hundred men at one time. 9 And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo, the Ahohite, one of the three mighty men with David when they defied the Philistines who were gathered there for battle, and the men of Israel had retreated. 10 He arose and attacked the Philistines until his hand was weary, and his hand stuck to the sword. The LORD brought about a great victory that day; and the people returned after him only to plunder. 11 And after him was Shammah the son of Agee the Hararite. The Philistines had gathered together into a troop where there was a piece of ground full of lentils. So the people fled from the Philistines. 12 But he stationed himself in the middle of the field, defended it, and killed the Philistines. So the LORD brought about a great victory.

I'm one of your new subscribers, from Italy! 🇮🇹
The media here, as usual, has largely ignored Oliver Anthony save for a few vitriolic articles that have popped up here and there, labelling his songs as "right-wing anthems".
Oliver's songs strike a chord with me and others here in Italy because his message goes beyond politics, blindly taking sides, etc. They speak at a deeper level.
I appreciate your analysis and insights and your ability to delve into various topics. Personally, I don't have any issues with the length of your reaction videos: articulating meaningful thoughts requires time.
    Keep it up!

Yes I was there!- at the bottom w/ no emotion of any kind.
Then a Spiritual awakening happened - not because of me , it was meeting people that had an almost unbelievable expression of love /heart/ relationship. I could not believe that a heart could do anything but pump blood! In desperation I asked God to show me what my heart is and how can it be real that HE could change it-show me.
Bam!! HE lite me UP! HE audibly Spoke to me , Changed me ! I’ll never be the same!

I had a dog for almost 15 years and she had to pass over the rainbow bridge back in February of 2021 - I also lost my mother in law and aunt that year as well let alone getting COVID for the 2nd time. I went to get another dog from the same breeder who said she would would be in the same blood line as my first dog - which was important to me and she is now a little over 2 years old. She is such a great company to my husband and I - both of us are combat veterans so she gives us alot of joy. Dogs or any pet really, love us unconditionally.
When you get my age (in my 50's) you start to look back on the things you've done and ask yourself what have I done so far because I don't know how much time I have left. Its at this point that any of my older relatives will die much quicker to each other and one day I will join them. I just love being alive and being on this Earth but I know I will have a few more dark days. However, faith and family will comfort hard times. Always enjoy the ones around you before they are no longer here.

You called out the "dog lovers" so here I am.
My dog is my wife and my wife is my dog. Living alone with her is a godsend. She's a small "woman", about 14 pounds. She's with me 24/7 and tells me when it's time to go to bed, when it's time to chill in the recliner, and when it's snack time, too.
I'd be lost without her as I'm disabled and need her companionship to remind me to get up and do things.
So, yes, they ARE mankind's best gift from the Almighty.
Good job and Keep the Faith, Bro. That's one thing they can't touch...

I stopped watching TV 10 yrs ago because I noticed that BS they are feeding us was depicting how I felt that day. I allowed the opinions of another dictate my own.
As a mother and a grandmother, it breaks my heart to hear the pain in his voice because we are supposed to protect our children. 😢 One song from my generation that doesn't get enough credit, recommend listening to it next. White Lion, "When the children cry". It was a warning in the 80s of where we are today.
My dog, Atticus, is my life line....unconditional ❤️.

I love your different interpretations of this song. I never considered that perhaps he wants to go home to the way things were back in the day. I was the last generation of the 90s kids who still rode bikes until the street lights came on, no cell phones or iPads.. we had a Nintendo Entertainment System and we’d play for 1-2 hours and then back out side to the woods, which of course have all been wiped out for more housing. 8 billion people on this planet and the low intelligence people who can’t afford it have the most…statistically. I stopped watching the news for 3 years and I was happier than ever but like you I’ve had to view both sides and make my own theories but it’s definitely had a negative effect on my mental health, but like you said, you just have to keep going. Great review!

THIS is why most of us like reaction videos... because along with our pets (I'm more of a cat person, though I do love dogs as well), it really helps to hear that others feel the same way we do. And this songs resonates so much with people because we're all just so dang TIRED of the struggle. We're in what so many cultures have called "The End Times," and in so many ways it's very exciting, but first we have to go through the exposure of all the bad things... and all the bad people... and UNITE as a people against them. It's songs like these that are greatly helping that happen.

I appreciate your take on this and the amount of time you put in. I wonder if, perhaps you aren't missing something important from this song. Large portions of this song are a prayer to a person he calls "The good Lord". He ends this with a verse from the Christian Bible. It should be evident that he is prayerfully pursuing the only one who can provide hope in a hopeless time. This is the heart cry of someone who feels completely unmoored from any other source of comfort. He cant return to his earthly home, and must cry out to God himself to provide that which OA has lost and has no way to find apart from divine aid.

Just turned 50. I wanna go home simply means I want to go back in time. Even just 15 or 20 years. 30 or so would be better. No body scanners at the airport, no constant apprehension of your fellow human being - wondering what offense you might perpetrate out of nothing, more music like this across genres pre-autotune, etc. People automatically accuse wanting to go home as wanting to go 'backwards'. Yet, they never lived it and don't realize they have made their own situations far worse now than they ever were before just 20 years ago. I do indeed miss 'home'. 👍

Another thoughtful take. Thank you. As we sort through the madness searching for solutions, critical thinkers and truth tellers are crucial. I do wish that staying informed wasn’t so time consuming. My goodness…. The amount of articles from independent journalists, transcripts, studies, original source materials, & books one must read in concert with the array of interviews, commentary, & podcasts one must watch or to which one must listen, is utterly ridiculous. It takes hours a day. Checking out is no longer an option if we want to be responsible humans, adults, &/or citizens. . It’s wild, for example, that Jimmy freaking Dore is a resource more accurate & broad in reporting the news than any corporate print or televised news organization. That alone says everything about this era of propagandized messaging across the board. The fact that 1-2K people died in Maui 2 weeks ago & MSM will only cover Trump’s mugshot & their fear that he will destroy democracy as we know it is insanity at the highest level. Sigh… sorry. I went all venty. The brevity of OA’s song is a better way to communicate but I’m not him:-) Thanks again! Looking forward to hearing more from you.

I cannot say for sure, but, when people look back many years from now, they may call this man a prophet. I really appreciate your honest and thoughtful reaction/discussion Sir. I really love this song as a Christian myself. Our cultural problems are very much linked to a abandonment of God. God is using this man to try and reach out to others. The wanting to go home idea stems from CS Lewis who said that man has always longed for something that they cannot find on this Earth. CS Lewis said it is logical to assume that maybe if we don't feel at home then maybe we were made for another world. Christians believe we are just passing through this life to our ultimate home with Jesus Christ. He said a place is being prepared for us in His Father's house. So ultimately, we have a hope grounded in God's creation and the Bible that things will get better and our sinful hearts will be healed. Oliver Anthony said to Joe Rogan in a recent podcast that Proverbs 4:20 really helped him. Sorry for the long comment but just wanted to say thanks for the hard work putting this video out and God bless you.

It's clear that you're doing a great job, and I think you have a bright future in this field. Keep up the good work, and I'll definitely be tuning in for more!

Move out of LA!!! Dog (and cat) owner here… and indeed they give me meaning and a will to keep going. I adopt special needs animals and have to get up every day for them. Otherwise I also survived suicide attempts and addiction… too much of what has become our reality now fogs my brain. Thx for your honesty.

Home does not necessarily mean wanting to die. While the classic description in Christianity of heaven has been often referred to as home (Oliver Anthony is a "new born" Christian), he also speaks lof a time when he, "didn't always feel this way" and home can be a place of safety. Also referring to himself as, "living in a new world with an old soul", wanting to go home can mean returning to a place or time of comfort or when the world made more sense, or even reinstituting the social contract of the American dream that has been annihilated by the rich men north of Richmond. In the sixties we had the likes of Bob Dylan, Jefferson Airplane heralding the coming of the liberal new world order, Oliver Anthony appears in to be one of the first post new world order voices calling out the need to reinstate the social contract that was lost due to the inevitable corruption of those in a government that views themselves as a separate and entitled entity.
I am reminded of the words of Benjamin Franklin at the close of the Constitutional Convention 1787, "I agree to this Constitution, with all its Faults, if they are such: because I think a General Government necessary for us, and there is no Form of Government but what may be a Blessing to the People if well administred; and I believe farther that this is likely to be well administred for a Course of Years, and can only end in Despotism as other Forms have done before it, when the People shall become so corrupted as to need Despotic Government, being incapable of any other."

Very very well said, Nate. I agree and can relate on many levels. One question I consider often, and was reminded of while watching your vid, what statement would you make to the “other side” if given the opportunity? Regardless of what “other side”… religion, politics, etc. Ps, Richmond was an ALL TIME classic… must have listened to it 15 times on repeat that first day… thanks for covering this follow up. 💪💪

It's always been this way, I have CPTSD/BPD because my parents were completely consumed by all this bs and their life was never satisfying so they took it out on me. I was raised by narcissistic alcoholic coke heads and it was a nightmare. I've lived under tyranny already and I can't do it again. 😢
