@@woody816 Good lord, is English your first language sir? Your grammar is an outrage! I can believe what I like, that doesn't make it true, or a fact, it makes it my opinion. You may not agree with it, and that's just fine, we can disagree and still like the same band. Why is he the heart of the band? Because of his enthusiasm and unabashed joy involved with being a member of a band that he clearly loves. He is the the most animated member when it comes to performing with the Stones and when being interviewed about being in the band. He holds the live act together, letting Mick and Keith go off and do their thing and when it seems like it's all about to fall on it's ass, it's Ronnie who pulls it back together. I've seen them live, I've seen him do it. He is a brilliant musician, the band rely heavily on his ability to do what he does more or less flawlessly. Maybe Charlie is the true 'beating heart', but I think that Ronnie is the rock n roll heart. Cheers.

I remember taking the wooden pegs off of my rope game and use them as improvised drumsticks , I would try to keep beat tapping on the record player stand , ha ! finally got a real set when I was 13 years , Santa Claus brought me a set of Ludwig drumsl like Ringo Starr had when he started out , one of the best Christmas mornings ever , and that metal flake green was just a sparkling away ! turns out Ronnie Wood as my favorite musician . has been since the first time I seen him with the faces in 1972 Tampa stadium , my photograph is on the. The Stones next album should just be old blues remakes, exactly what they did when they first started out. A little "Jimmy Reed" here and a little "Muddy Waters" there. And maybe a couple of originals like in the beginning of they're career. They were always good at covering old blues songs. Plus it's easier on they're nerves without the hassle of the tedious concentration of trying to think of new material which really isn't so hot anymore. I bet they never imagined "Miss You" being a hit. That all happened on a "Let's give it a one last go at it assumption".

@@williammcdonough2291 That was Ronnie LANE. They were called the "Small Faces" because they were all short men. When Rod Steward and Ron Wood joined, who were taller, they had to drop the "small", and became the "Faces". It seemed like a stupid name to me at the time, but when I saw them blow the roof off the Long Beach Arena in 1971. their name didn't seem so bad anymore. When they became "Rod Steward and Faces" its when the band fell apart, with Ronnie Lane leaving - he was the catalyst of the band. Lane had been afraid bringing Rod Steward in would lead to the same thing that happened with Steven Marriott, who became more famous than the Small Faces, then leaving to form Humble Pie (saw them open for Ten Years After at the Forum in that same year, or was it 1972?). It was the drummer of Small Faces who knew Ronnie Wood, so he talked the others into letting him be their Steve Marriott replacement lead guitar player. Rod Stewart was Wood's friend, and hung around at practice, eventually being allowed to sing for them. But Ronnie Lane was leary about Stewart, fearing he would become a cult of personality like Marriott, and upstage the band, which is exactly what happened later. Ronnie Wood was brilliant on guitar with the Faces, and despite his huge intake of drugs, which damaged him somewhat (haven;'t we all been through THAT?), he is still a great musician, although I prefer his music without the rolling stones, who are absurd caricatures of what they once were............................

That's what happens when a great old Martin gets played by a great guitar player. I hope you get a chance to hear a good acoustic guitar played properly, except live and without amplification. Go to a festival that encourages jamming and get right up close to a circle of good players. The absolute best way to do that, if you don't play an instrument, is to learn to sing a standard song, know what key you like to sing it in, and ask to politely if you might sing one with them. Unless they are a stage band in a practice session, odds of them saying yes is about 98%. Even if you don't want to sing, get your ears up close to the players - it's amazing.

    Awful 'interview' Marr!
Sounded condescending and patronising. He interupted and talked over Ron and asked silly questions and made stupid remarks. The emphasis was on the questions rather than the answers. Ron was witty, calm and charming nevertheless!!!

Yes, truly terrible interview. At one point Marr declares that Ron had been in, 'the Faces and the New Faces'. Fucking idiot.

Andrew Marr is quite bad here. Ronnie was never in the New Faces. That was a television program if I remember correctly. Why didn't Ronnie correct him? Also Ronnie didn't join the Stones shortly after the 1969 Hyde Park Concert. He joined them in 1975. Again why didn't Ronnie correct him? Maybe Ronnie can't remember himself? Andrew Marr is totally the wrong person to interview a musician. Good on Ronnie though for reminding us of old an old blues player like Jimmy Reed and more recently Chuck Berry.

Why couldn't Ronnie Wood really play, instead of miming it, making himself look like an idiot? Doesn't make sense to me. I saw him blow the roof off the Long Beach Arena with the Faces in 1971. when I was only 15, and I'll never forget that concert as long as I live. The Faces put on the most FUN show I've ever seen, and that includes hundreds of different concerts since. Ronnie Lane, the bass player, was the driving force in Faces, as Ronnie Wood admitted later, and he left after it became "Rod Stewart and the Faces". Ronnie Lane and Ronnie Wood did a recording together after he left, which is available on youtube. I love Ronnie Wood's playing, but not so much with the "stones", who were never as good as the Faces, and are now an absurd caricature of what they once were. I saw the Rolling Stones at the Hollywood Palladium the same year I saw Faces at the Long Beach Arena, and the Stones were at their peak then, with Mick Taylor playing guitar, but other than Mick Taylor, the rest of the Stones can't compare to the Faces as musicians, or their songs.
Long live the Faces and Ronnie Wood (and Ronnie Lane's memory)........!

I lof this cat, he got a fine sense of humor and is an awesome guitar-player. Don't missunderstand me, "this/that" 'bout MT sucks, but sure there's no doubt that MT is a GREAT guitar-player, too, but he never got the near to Keith (and the others) as Ronnie! And "wieving" is Ronnie & Keith. And by the way, the solo-stuff of Ronnie is amazing, can't say this 'bout tha solo-stuff of MT. Regards

Them old Martins are Keith’s favorite guitars, I’m shocked that he got away with it. Also, wtf is Keith gonna do with a Strat? It should be against the law for him to play anything other than a Telecaster.
