    Ronnie Wood's conversations are always so wonderful. Always comes off with childlike wonder about what he 'gets' to do in life.

    • @KenTeel
      @KenTeel ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, childlike wonder with how lucky he got, given his mediocre level of developed talent (learn a few minor pentatonic blues licks, a few bar chords, and you'er in !!.) He should be smiling and astounded about his good fortune. He must feel like a lottery winner.

    • @KenTeel
      @KenTeel ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @kevinmichael9482 Yes, Kevin, indeed. The Stones wanted Jeff Beck, but I think that Jeff was intense as a serious student of music theory, and interested in more avante guarde types of sound, enough so as to not fit into the "Stones reciple." Sometimes, less is more. Ronnie comes across as a nice chap, on camera. That's always good for PR (and not doing or saying embarassing things for the band.) He is a good, interview, too. He's a good PR guy, in addition to Mick and Keith's PR work. He's kind of safe in his interviews. He never comes across as caustic. Ronnie will tow the company line and be amiable.

    We got married at the Stones concert in TX two years ago. Right after the nuptials and my wife throwing the wedding bouquet into the audience, a couple walked up to us and mentioned that he is friends with Steve Jordan (he showed us pictures of them together at his home the night before). The guy texted Steve after meeting us to let him know that he just met a couple who got married in front of the stage before the show. A few moments later, stagehands came out, called us right up near the stage and said, "these are from Ronnie, he says congratulations" and handed us guitar picks they told us Ronnie had been using earlier in the day during rehearsal. About 10 minutes after that, more stagehands came out with drumsticks and said, "Steve wants you to have these." Kind of a cool way to start off the marriage lol. We love Ronnie, we love Steve, we love the Stones -- the greatest band of all time.

    The Beatles and The Rolling Stones were and still are my 2 favorite music groups of all time. I never saw the Beatles live although I saw them on TV the night they first played on the Ed Sullivan show in 1964 then I saw The Rolling Stones live 3 times in Toronto in 1989, 1992 and 2004. All 3 times they were for me the best group in the world. I bought a lot of there LPs, CDs and DVD's when they first came out.

      Nope. Mick always deluded himself into thinking he was a rival of the Beatles. Poor bloke even once talked the Stones into trying to do a Beatle-like album. It failed. They never had that breadth of talent. More or less stuck in the blues scale.

      Have any of you even listened to The Rolling Stones music? They only copied the Beatles a few times, a period over three years. Now every beatle freak says the stones only copied the Beatles. They didn’t copy them when they began as a blues band. And beginning with beggars banquet and working with jimmy miller they became a blues rock band again after a brief flirtation with pop music. The music they made with jimmy miller is some of the greatest and most influential music in rock and roll. Bands like AC/DC , Aerosmith , and New York dolls picked up on what they were doing at that time with open tunings and having the drums follow the guitar. In a way the stones ended up being more influential than the Beatles. I hear more open tunings than harmonies and jazz chords.

    Historically, there has always been two ongoing discussions regarding the Rolling Stones. "Who is the greatest rock and roll band of all time the Beatles or the Stones," and "Who is the greatest rock and roll band of all time Led Zepplin or the Stones?" The fact that they are in the running in both the sixties and the seventies kind of makes the answer obvious. (No band after the seventies is even in the running).

    I've always thought of The Beatles as the greatest 'Pop' band (as in popular music). The Stones have always been the greatest 'Rock and Roll' band, in my humble opinion. I can
    never understand the vitriole in some of the comments regarding people's opinion of
    who is "The Best". It doesn't matter a jot, as everybody's view is subjective, just enjoy
    them both. The Beatles archive is truly fantastic, but The Stones have obviously played
    hundreds of shows more, and also Jagger's voice is still in super condition, while
    McCartney's is definitely much weaker than in his prime (understandably).

    Everyone knows that the Beatles are the greatest band of all time. Even Justin Hayward of The Moody Blues admitted The Beatles have their own planet and they live on it alone. No one is even close. At least the Beatles played in tune. Lennon and McCartney are the greatest writing duo that have ever lived and George Harrison is even better.

      Justin Hayward is correct. Any person who seriously studies music would agree with him, unless they have an extreme bias.

      George will always be my favourite Beatle, but his songwriting does not better Jagger & Richards. In moments yes, but their back catalogue is huge and great.

      But honestly they're not My favorite band of all time - i like the who More - I'm not saying I'm not a fan but there's others more important to me

      @@graemecreegan6749 I'm sorry but I can't make any sense out of that. I am a 60 year musician and I know musical talent and Harrison is superior to Jagger and Richards. I fight about this all the time with my wife.

    • @graemecreegan6749
      @graemecreegan6749 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dennisblair3186 musical talent and songwriting ability are not necessarily the same thing. Most of the best musicians have never composed anything of note, as you could most probably attest to personally. I love George, love The travelling Wilburys but for me, jagger and Richard’s have written more stone cold classics than George. But it’s all subjective, and probably the fact that I’ve seen the stones live a couple of times but never seen George, adds to my appreciation of their hits. (I certainly have a greater appreciation of Paul McCartneys solo songs after having watched him live last week in Newcastle, NSW)

    I didn't know Ronnie Wood had cancer. Glad they were able to get rid of. I had cancer non -Hodgkin lymphoma and had 6 rounds of chemo and they got rid of it. I also get period checks. Keith has got the genes of almost a superman.

    at dylan's 30th anniversary concert, both wood and harrison played covers of zimmie. george wore a purple velvet suit! and was introduced by chrissie hynde as a "guitar hero." (wood played 7 DAYS). not making the cd, nor the dvd, was harrison playing and singing IF NOT FOR YOU, which had previously appeared on ALL THINGS MUST PASS.

    it's amazing when you consider there all in there 80s & still rocking hard & this fallacy that the stones & beatles were in competition with each other is untrue they equally respected each other & would attend each others concerts regularly & would release there up & coming singles /albums alternatively so they wouldn't clash ,which goes for all the other bands of the day , the who, kinks , moody blues , gerry & the pacemakers ,procol harem etc & were all good mates in reality, as shown in recent years , at charity events or tribute concerts & in some cases inducted each other into the rock & roll Hall of fame ..

    Yes Virginia the Greatest Rock & Roll Band" in the World, they are indeed the Rolling Stones. The era of 68' Beggars Banquet, 69' Let It Bleed, the incredible 71' Sticky Fingers, 72' (Masterpiece), Exile on Main Street (Masterpiece), 78' Some Girls, cannot compare with the Beatles. The Stones owned the 1970's like no one before. Forget Elvis, glorified Lounge Act, sung covers mostly, never took chances. #2 a tie between Led Zepp & Pink Floyd, both grew and developed from their first steps away from the crib. . . I'd no want to think of a world without any of these guys. How lucky we all are.
    New Stones Album has legs, carries itself well. maybe the last the way these guys work, but the vault is where the next treasures are kept - we'll get them in 10 years one Christmas as well.

    All the 'rivalry' between the Beatles and the Stones was actually a facade. They were actually the best of friends in the business and had each others backs - John Lennon and Paul McCartney even did backup vocals on the 1967 single "We Love You" to support Mick and Keith who faced the long arm of the law over drug charges.
