    Ronnie has an unbelievable memory for details from 40-50 years ago, and, unlike some rock big-shots, is never reticent to share these details with the fans. Yes, he like to talk, and sometimes interrupts, but you can always feel his deep appreciation and enthusiasm for the world he has been a part of and helped to create. Thanks, Ronnie!

      Sean Rockwell . You've put that so well !! Ronnie is a genuine article haha !
      I wonder if you ever heard his Radio Show on BBC Radio 6, I think , about 10 / 12 years ago ? It ran for a good while & deservedly won an Award or two ! His music knowledge & passion are incredible ! & he was always listening to some Newer stuff as well, bands that his kids had told him about, not just delving backwoods to ancient roots !

    The Small Faces were the only band for me in the 60s. My bedroom walls were splattered with posters. I was so in love with Steve Marriott. Best time to be a teenager. No other decade comes close. Long live the 1960s. I would do it all again in a heartbeat

I didn't expect Steve Marriott to be in the top 10 (though he should be IMHO), but at least the top 20. Where did they place him? NO WHERE!?! They didn't even mention him - disgusting. Steve Marriott was simply the personification of the words Rock and Roll. The ultimate front man. The man had the best vocals of any lead singer and his ability to pen lyrics rates far superior to the Beatles the Stones or that of Carlos Santana. The first time I saw the Faces he impressed me with his showmanship. Once you lay eyes on him it’s over. He left us too soon. I’ve seen thousands of bands and Steve was addicting. Humble Pie and the Faces left me with too much serotonin. We could use another Marriott. The guy was a LEGEND. It’s that simple to me

    • @bethh.9647

      I totally agree with you both. I love both Humble Pie and Faces, but wish Steve had never left Small Faces, they were a perfect foursome No one compares to Steve Marriott for singing, charisma and showmanship. Although I am happy the Small Faces were inducted, Rolling Stone has never acknowledged Steve's talents. Where does he place on RS's lists for 100 Greatest Rock Singers and 100 Greatest Rock Front Men??

    He was great in The Who and he fit in perfectly. His playing live between 1979 and 1981 was fantastic. There are tons of live shows on youtube. Listen to him on the Kampuchea concert or their run at MSG 79'. Keith Moon was dead and there was no other drummer but Kenney they wanted. Simple as that. He'd been friends with them since the sixties and he came from two bands every bit as good (and as popular) as The Who. Selecting him made perfect sense.

      I have also discovered the Small Faces only recently. We missed out in the US. I am so impressed by their amazing talent and versatility. Their music was so innovative, especially for 1965-68. A brilliant mix of soul, pop, rock, psychedelia, whimsy and music hall. I am still angry, over 50 years later, that Steve Marriott (bless his soul) broke up this perfect band of brothers. However, if he had not there would not have been Humble Pie or the Faces whom I also love. RIP Steve, Ronnie Lane, and Mac.

Everyone kept pointing out that it took 2 to replace Steve, but Steve himself NEVER said that. Jerry also said that it was Steve who recommended Ronnie call Ronnie lane about playing with SF's. He only wanted the best for his old mates, while they were all quite bitter towards Steve. Steve didn't care about money and fame (as Rod did), he just wanted to make great music. I adore the Small Faces and sincerely wish Steve hadn't left them. According to Kenney's book (excellent read) there were a number of reasons, all which should of been worked out if Steve hadn't been so impatient. Steve absolutely HATED being a teen idol and just wanted respect for his musical abilities, not his looks. Some say he was traumatized by the crazy little screaming girls who would tear him to pieces if given the chance. But also, he and his songwriting partner Ronnie lane were having "creative differences". Ronnie was softer, but Steve wanted to rock harder, thus his wanting to add Peter Frampton to the mix so it would fill out their sound and Steve could focus more on singing - the others refused. The Ying and Yang of Steve and Ronnie's personalities made them best friends and wonderfully creative songwriters, but ultimately tore them apart. Ronnie L. was very bitter and they didn't speak for about 10 years. Steve did have some personality issues, but he was no villain. All Steve ever cared about was making great music. Bless his soul

    Kenny Jones in the Who... check out the Who live from when he was in the band and you will see he was kicking ass at those shows... he was wrongly maligned by Daltry, the problem with the Who at that time was Townshend!

      Yeah I had read that Jones and Daltrey didn’t get along that well. Kenney was the drummer when I saw The Who back in the early 80s.

Kenny is such a lovely fella , met him on a few occasions , sure he wanted to mention and would have mentioned Ronnie Lane as it was him that really put the Faces together after the Steve left the Small Faces ..... but like other comments have mentioned Wood just interrupted and faffled on with BS .....

      @cindyfalstrom7231 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Both Rod & Ronnie trashed Steve in the press. Steve said in an interview "I don't know why, I never did anything to them". Personally, I think they were insecure about trying to replace Steve who was the greatest.

    • @kazabushy
      @kazabushy ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@cindyfalstrom7231 Yes. That makes perfect sense. Actually, they should have been insecure. It took 2 of them to replace him.
      I love and adore Rod and Ronnie to bits. Such incredibly talented artists and insane entertainers.
      No need for them to trash talk anyone.
      But I have to say, Steve Marriott hands down was the King of being even more. They were mere knights in his kingdom.

      Mikey Hall I think they have been around each other long enough to know strengths/weaknesses. It took Kenny a moment to be comfortable; but when that happened, he had no trouble speaking. Why is everyone with a keyboard always so down on Ronnie. I've never read or heard one of his peers speak unkindly of him. AND he is very generous when playing with others. Let me hear Ronnie play any day!!!
