      @@christophermullins7163i am tired of telling people to try used. People will still blabber about mining when it doesn’t change anything about a gpu but they won’t research about it. There won't be good value GPUs at the end of the year. NVIDIA is going to bend us over and tell us we're fortunate to be able to pay 2200 for a 5090 or 1500 for a 5080, because Jensen said the more you buy, the more you save.

      Being a PC enthusiast used to be fun, you could get either the top-tier GPU for around £350-400, or you could be smart, and get the one down from that for £250-300, and flash the BIOS to unlock the pipes and shaders et cetera,, you could do this every generation pretty much, then there were generations where the middle GPU offered 95% of the flagship GPU, £200 could basically get you the enthusiast GPU, at least CPU’s are current fun and interesting, though Intel nearly put a stop to that, they tried going down the same patch as Nvidia with their GPU's by stagnating CPU tech and putting prices up, thankfully AMD ca to the rescue with Ryzen, if only they remained competitive with GPU's and stopped Nvidia from being greedy tyrants, then again I'm quite happy using the mClassic and a mid-range GPU for now, gives me good enough frame-time latency performance @ 1440p (scaled from 720p) and actually looks better than native 1440p, but GPU tech is really stagnant at the moment, very little features for not so little money, the fact that I can produce much better results with a third party solution (mClassic which cost me £75) and a £300 GPU than an £800 GPU speaks volumes.

      Maybe try not being a mindless consumer buying the new and hottest things every year. I always wait 1-3 years before buying anything when prices drop. It's how I got my most recent phone (retailed at $800, got it new for only $300 lol). Plan to do the same with upgrading my GPU. Def not buying anything new.

      @@thelonercoder5816 I find 7-10 years is the sweet spot for a new main gaming GPU, as for smartphones, I find them to be completely OTT, I use a basic Nokia that makes phone calls and text msgs, imagine that, when I want a tablet i'll use my iPad, which @ £300 is the only good for value product Apple produces, as it does so much, has Apple Arcade, which is fantastic, a phone is a phone imo.

    • @HanSolo__
      @HanSolo__ 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +32

      @@tomthomas3499 There is enough room in the $600 price for installing 16GB. The cost of memory does not matter it's more about pushing you to replace the card due to lack of VRAM (sooner than later) or pushing you to a higher tier of $800 to get 16GB if you want a 4K card. So the strategy is more scummy than just cutting the costs of memory.

    I ended up winning an auction for a lightly used Liquid Devil 6800 XT for $416 about 8 months ago. Run it UV/OC'd at 2650MHz @ 990mV and it goes toe to toe with the 7900 GRE and 4070 Super at 1440P in the games I play the most. Power consumption isn't even that bad since it's golden silicon on water cooling, it's usually in the 180-190W range and running at 50-52C. If I run RT it can hit 340W and 60C, but I don't really play a lot of games with RT. Nothing even comes close to the value I found with this card, it has impressed me so much and I think RDNA2 might be AMD's GOAT generation.

    It all depends on geographic location as well. Here in Australia the 7900xtx is a no brainer if that is the price range you are shopping in. the 7900xtx can be found for around the $1350AUD vs $1800AUD for a 4080 Super

    • @rinsenpai135
      @rinsenpai135 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It's most likely THE deciding factor. 4080 Super and 7900 XTX go for the same price in France (around 1k€), 4070 Super and 7800 XT were going for around 600-650€ (7800XT recently dropped in price, so 4070 Super matches the 7900 GRE), 4060 and 7600 go for 300-350€. It makes almost no sense to go AMD in France right now because you'd save between nothing and 40€. With current electricity prices, going for the Nvidia card is almost always cheaper past the 1st year mark.

I had X trios in the past they aren't very good, the 4080 Supers I would actually go for are variants like the TUF at minimum which is $1858 (4080S) and it doesn't fit my setup, the Gigabyte Aero fits my setup for $1850 but if I was spending I would go for the Asrock Taichi XTX $1600. @pituguli5816 The 24gb vram is honestly useless. Someone buying such a card will move on in 2 gens at least as by then the card will be low end. Cyberpunk completely maxed out at 4k native doesn't even come close to 20gb, it's more around 13.5 avg to 16gb. Alan wake 2 is the same and ue5 which is becoming the norm literally uses less vram than those games even maxed out in games. By the Tim you get to actually use that 24gb vram that card will not be doing anything close to 4k gaming.

    In terms of ray tracing, the RX 7900xtx is practically on par with the 4080 Super in many titles. Where the 7900xtx falters is in titles with path tracing, but to be honest, today there are only about 3 titles with path tracing and it has a cost. very great performance to be honest so if we talk about gaming we should think that both GPUs have a similar performance currently the 24gb of vram of the rx 7900xtx will give it a significant advantage in scenarios where a lot of vram is used in addition to having a better bus, for example warzone is a game that consumes an absurd amount of vram today, just look at the consumption with all the presets in ultra only at 1080p which is already around 14gb/16gb of vram, it is a poorly optimized game but Unfortunately that is something very common to see nowadays so buying a gpu just to have things like dlss is not worth it since you have decent alternatives that are not far behind it like fsr 3.0 and xess also when you are paying $1000 for a gpu the least you expect is to use rescalers and many people will tell you that dlss looks better than the native but nothing could be further from the truth, it is worse than the native when it is well implemented it does not look much worse than the native but it looks worse besides in certain scenarios you lose fine details with the movements etc. also another thing that they always discard and I don't know why it is the people who precisely want to maintain the maximum graphical fidelity possible for that you have dlaa, fsr native aa and xess native aa that provide the maximum graphical fidelity possible when they implement them well, something that seems really a good plus in many scenarios, even with GPUs in these price ranges, is the frame gen and we return to the same thing, there are alternatives to dlss frame gen that are even closer to rescalers like fsr frame gen and even programs like lossless scaling that you can use anywhere, the only valid excuse in my humble opinion to opt for nvidia is that you depend on programs that use cuda since there is no alternative to As for the rest, there is no real reason to go with Nvidia, plus with the AMD alternative you can also work with 3D renders, video editing, etc. It is even offering you advantages due to the greater amount of vram and bus

      People saying DLSS looks better than native are either blind and or paid to shill or just unable to see the blur and artifacts introduced or don't want to, so they can use it like a crutch and feel like it isn't a worse experience. it is worse. so is FSR. Neither framgens are not the same as native and never will be, it'll get close but it can never 'ai' everything.

    The main advantage of the Radeon RX 7900 XTX (which I have) is the 24 GB of VRAM. With that amount, you can always set textures and settings to maximum and not worry that you'll have performance issues or crashes. When I check how much VRAM is being used while I'm gaming at max settings, it often shows up as 14 to 16 GB of VRAM! Therefore, at around $1000 for the Geforce RTX 4080 Super, it's tough to recommend it with its 16 GB of VRAM... Kind of unacceptable considering that even an Intel ARC A770 for $350 or whatever also has 16 GB of (LOL!) I'm predicting that in the next few years this will become a very tight amount of VRAM for a lot of games, or cause performance issues. It's mostly ok to have 16GB of VRAM today, but you don't buy a $1000 graphics card to change it in just 1 year... I'm surprised that almost no one talks about this. The same happened when reviewers and tech channels were talking about 8GB VRAM being an INSANE amount back in 2020 or 2019 or so. But they made it seem like you won't have to worry about that for a long long time. Already 1 year ago, 8 GB was a joke and frequently I had crashes when I had a card with just that amount in games.

    • @N4CR
      @N4CR 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      VRAM is primary limiting factor of lifespan of a card. Even if features go out of date, you can still play that big texture/mod pack... the 16gb 4080 turdLSS can't.

    Just picked up a 12Gb 3080 for the equivalent of $480, which in Europe is a great deal considering the 3080Ti is only 5% faster but they cost the equivalent of $630 used here

      RTX 3080Ti is a lower memory option of the RTX 3090. It's more like 12-15% faster than RTX 3080. Still, you got a nice deal with your 3080 12GB.

      @@HanSolo__ every review I've seen shows it sitting between the 10Gb 3080 and the 3080Ti, but closer to the 3080Ti. It's faster than the normal 3080 remember. More like a cut down 3080Ti rather than a 3080 with extra VRAM

    People: "This is a pointless card, it's not faster!"

    great vid man, super thorough info. much appreciated. I'm thinking about building a system soon, considering going 7950x & a nvidia 4070 ti super, or possibly 4080 super for a makeshift productivity build, I was leaning intel since it's probably the faster kit for what I intend to do, but they seem like there's some instability atm they need to resolve, we'll see if arrow-lake can turn it around... this release generation has been a rough one eh? haha. so many wacky ups and downs and unusual annoying compromises... but i digress. As for your Mics, I haven't played around with an MV7 before, it seems like a decent mic over all, how's the noise floor on it for you? also, the NT1 sounds good, that's a solid mic, can def hear the the gain bringing out some detail since it's got that extra condenser sensitivity, sounds legit. What kind of audio interface are you rockin' if you don't mind my askin? Cheers.

    Who cares if majority of people dosnt use it.... "its nice to have it" ....who care if the games in 2-3 years will sthutter for the ridicolus bandwith and vram capacity.... " we got the features ".
    In any case the fools will purchase a 500usd gpu everyyear. Nvidia trains his dog well . 🐔

    I've been rocking and RTX 3070 that I bought for $200 from a friend of mine about 6 months ago. For what I paid, you can't really beat the performance. That being said, I do tend to drop some settings just a little in newer AAA titles just to avoid hitting the vram cap. I've got my eye on either an RX 7800 XT or RX 7900 GRE if they come down to the $400 - $450 price range respectively.

  • @SimplCup

    12 gb will be enough for most people for like ~10 years. Only the most demanding games like Alan Wake 2 are gonna push the limits of the vram, but 99% of other games won't get to 12 gb consumption for a long time. And it's also just enough for ai stuff, cus i'm using rtx 4070 super and it never really needed more than like 8 gb for general usage of different ai models. And u can even train some light-weight models like RVC models, sd loras or music separating shit with it. So generally speaking, if you want a 1080p ultra card buy some amd gpu, but if you want 2k gaming, ai support and wide support of different software - buy nvidia even if it's a lil worse in games.

    4070 Ti / Super - 7700x / 7800xt is best gpu for me.
    But it's boring and annoying to pour money into a PC when the games don't work as they should and they're not well optimized at all and all performance is controlled by DLSS and FSR.

      RX 8000 series will not have a top-tier card and RTX 5000 series will cost a LOT of money. Outside of RTX 5090, all Nvidia offers will not be much faster than RTX 4000. I would wait a bit and pick a 4080 Super.
      EDIT: RX 8000 will show up in 2025. So that's a year of waiting.

      amd said no new gaming gpu line this year, so the only thing you can wait is rtx 5080 and 5090. Nvidia release new gpu line every 2 years so this year there will be 5080 and 5090. but amd said no gaming gpu this year, so Nvidia may not release 5080 and 5090 this year. wait till August and if there's nothing for 5080 or 5090 for this year then buy the 7900xtx

    5:46 "40-45 bucks" - incorrect
    look %
    people who can afford only $200 purchase - for them $45 is +22% price, and if they needed "X-amount of time to save that $200" - to save $45 more is X-time*0.22
    if X-time was year - then 22% of year is - 3 months
    if it "hard to imagine" on this "low number of dollars" for you - imagine this is not $200 but $200000
    and you comparing $200000 to "just $45000 more $245000" - this why you use %

    7900xt officially as of today is the far better value proposition over the 4070 to super. The argument over feature set is legitimate but is that you can get a 7900xt under 700 there’s non real competition in price to performance. I was shopping this exact price category a few weeks ago. All 4070 ti supers are still stilling around 800.00 but I grabbed my 7900xt(xfx merc) for 675.00 on a flash sale down from 701.00. If they were closer in price the 4070 makes sense but now we’re looking at 125.00 difference putting them in different price classes. I expect on prime day you’ll be able to get a 7900xt at 650.00.
