    Great build mate it’s a shame that rim brake bikes with mechanical groupsets are rare to find nowadays

      Thanks for the kind words. I have nothing against disc brake but a true mechanical rim brakes road bike have a special space in my heart.
      This build show that rim brake tech still improve by some companies and close the gap of disc brake pretensions.

      You can still buy the frames new on the giant website, atleast in the UK anyway.

      This frame is a warranty replacement from Giant. Here in Canada, almost everything is out of stock on Giant website.

    Aesthetically rim brake bikes just look so much more cleaner. Plus you don't get the niggly disc issues like rubbing etc

    Any reason for greasing the freehub body? The freehub body and sprockets are not supposed to rub against each other, so absolutely no need to reduce friction. They are also not as tightly connected that preventing galling or seizing was necessary. You can save weight, time and effort and mount the sprockets completely dry. Other than that it's a great build!

    • @thatbikeguy8509
      @thatbikeguy8509  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are right, in theory grease should not be needed. But in my experience, it is just a added « insurance » to prevent creaking…

    Hi to all. One thing that bugs me and I can't get my head around it and that is..our fingers contain oils among other things. Why aren't gloves worn when applying grease and pastes on all the components?

    • @thatbikeguy8509

      I’m a grease monkey! All joke aside, you’re right about wearing gloves but they tend to tear pretty fast…

    difference between Giant TCR Advanced Pro vs Giant TCR Advanced SL 0?

    • @thatbikeguy8509
      @thatbikeguy8509  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The Advanced SL have a ISP, integrated seatpost that you cut to length and add a seat mast. Carbon dropout, higher modulus carbon…about 200g lighter. Had 3 Advanced Sl before this one. I plan to make a video on this subject, I still have 2 SL frameset…can’t comment on ride quality, temperature begin to warm up here in Canada.

    Great build! Any chance you know what compression plug that was? Thanks!

    • @thatbikeguy8509
      @thatbikeguy8509  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The compression plug came with the Giant frameset. I had a few TCR and Giant seem to use the same style since the last 10 years. I’m in now building a Trek Emonda and they used a plug half the length…there is a website called Giant Spare Parts based in the UK where the Giant plug must be available. Hope this help.

    As a Giant owner, TCR with no direct-mount brake calipers is a total disgrace.

      @thatbikeguy8509  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just finished a Emonda build (with direct mount brakes) will be released shortly and frankly, they are in my opinion a pita to install, adjust and found no braking improvement…but that’s me…
