Drivers vs Cyclist | Part 1 | First 1 hour ride of the season
This is the first video of a series captured with my Garmin Virb onboard camera.
It is the first 1 hour ride of the season with a new bike, on local cycle paths, during a chilly afternoon.
This series will highlight funny, awkward and sometime scary situations that road cyclists encounter.
I just want to ride my bike so we have to share the road!

    when showing the "reverse" method, you were wrapping in the wrong direction. that's why your hand friction unraveled the tape.

    Question...you wrap the top of the bar in what I would say is the opposite of the traditional way, "tradional" being based on other videos I've seen. The message is that wrapping the other way tightens the tape, while your way would technically loosen it because when on the top, your hands would apply force towards you. That said, I've seen pro mechanics wrap like you did. This makes me wonder if pros don't experience the unwrapping because their tape gets changed so often? I change mine once oh, every two years, so I wonder if my tape would loosen over time. Also...the end cap...while it eliminates a huge hassle for me (cramming the tape into the tube) I can't help but think that it would unravel pretty easily. Thank you for the video! Gives me a new perspective on this.

      If your hands are rolling backwards on the tops it’s a sign your reach is a bit too long. This technique is actually correct direction for the tape on the tops if your bike fits.

    Still can't understand the fascination with integrated bar-stems. Yes, they save a few grams (if any) due to the lack of four miniscule bolts and a faceplate. But installation and maintenance are a hassle and do not forgive any mistakes, and crash replacement will be extremely expensive. And when riding on the tops, your hands are locked in an uncomfortable position because of the flat sharp-edged cross section. Not to mention that most of these IBSs are downright ugly (IMO).

    • @thatbikeguy8509
      @thatbikeguy8509 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are right about the installation, maintenance and adjustability issues associated with integrated handlebar. In my case, I wanted to increase stiffness and it does! Look is a personal thing and in my case, I love how they look on my bi!

    Any reason for greasing the freehub body? The freehub body and sprockets are not supposed to rub against each other, so absolutely no need to reduce friction. They are also not as tightly connected that preventing galling or seizing was necessary. You can save weight, time and effort and mount the sprockets completely dry. Other than that it's a great build!

    • @thatbikeguy8509
      @thatbikeguy8509 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are right, in theory grease should not be needed. But in my experience, it is just a added « insurance » to prevent creaking…

    • @thatbikeguy8509

      The Advanced SL have a ISP, integrated seatpost that you cut to length and add a seat mast. Carbon dropout, higher modulus carbon…about 200g lighter. Had 3 Advanced Sl before this one. I plan to make a video on this subject, I still have 2 SL frameset…can’t comment on ride quality, temperature begin to warm up here in Canada.

    Amazingly done! Do you think it’s possible to have fully internal cable routing in a giant tcr?

    • @thatbikeguy8509
      @thatbikeguy8509 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, even with wireless electronic shifting (that eliminate cables or wires from the shifters) like Sram etap or the new wireless Shimano Di2, you would have to deal with brake cables (hydro or mech). On the TCR, Giant choose to keep the cables externals. In my opinion this is a good thing for maintenance and functionality purposes and, as you see, there's nothing wrong with a neat exposed cables routing...And Giant did a great job with the cables inserting locations. In short term, with wireless shifting, two brakes cables would be exposed. hope this answer your question.
