    Gayle you might want to try using Wunder Under fusible webbing & see which you like better... the webbing isn't bulky & it will not gum up your cutting tools! If I am hand tearing strips then I cut the webbing to size with a rotary cutter before ironing to the fabric, if I want straight edges then I will iron the webbing on a large piece of fabric 1st then use the rotary cutter to cut the strips. You can then iron the trim directly to your pages! If you are worried about scorching thinner/older papers or melting the trim just add a piece of parchment paper between the iron & the trim. Doublesided tape/score tape works great too and not as thick as the carpet tape. Having fun is what it is all about & you sure made me smile seeing how happy you were playing today!

    3M makes a really good double sided roll of tape that I've been using on material for years. Also coating the back of material with white glue and letting it dry , then cutting it to a ribbon shape or whatever works too. You do have to use glue to put it on the paper edge though.
    I do so enjoy you and your videos.

    I have literally been making this washi for a really long time ever since I saw amity blooms collection :) I thought.. hmm how can I make this?! And then went to Home Depot and got the tape,so glad to see others using carpet tape for fabric washi 🥰 instead of paying outrageous amounts! You can use 3m repositioning mounting tape too!

    If you are up for some mess, the tiny strips are fun to put fine glitter on. The glue really grabs it and if you put the backing strip over the glitter and burnish it it doesn't come off. Just a fun accent. 💗Debbie

    Hi Gayle, I ordered some 5 inch wide double stick tape from Amazon to make washi tape. I’m always so glad to see your new video. It’s just hard to find some fabric that have a smaller print on it. You can also put the tape on some napkins, lace and/or ribbons.

  • @barbaralaforge7492
    @barbaralaforge7492 5 ปีที่แล้ว +16

    I use plain old score tape. It comes in lots of widths and is much easier to use. Much thinner and does not gum up your scissors. I’ve been making it for over a year.

    • @barbaralaforge7492

      I make it that way too & also I use Wunder Under fusible web iron on too... easiest to deal with & less likely to come through the fabric since it is made for fabric

    I am completely in love with this idea!!! I was watching the LGB for Double Digit video today, saw the fabric washi tape you used from Amity Bloom, and went looking on google for a tutorial for making my own, and I was so excited when I saw you show up in the search. AND the video was posted today. I’m so glad I coincidentally waited until today to watch the Double Digit LGB video. I’d have been stuck watching someone else’s video to see how to make it. And I have to admit you are my favorite person to watch. Great job on figuring it out!!!

    I use carpet tape to reinforce journal spines so I have a large roll on hand. I tried this and I love it! My tape is a cheaper one and not quite as sticky which works very well. My next try with this will be frankentape. It's so addicting! Thanks for the share!

    I would only use the carpet tape to cover books, and make sure the fabric isn't too thin, like cotton quilt, as over time the adhesive may seep through and yellow. It's meant to hold thick carpet for years. So I'd use a close weave canvas, outdoor fabric, leather, wool-tweed or upholstery fabric.

    Such fun Gayle. Have you used emptied and dried used tea bags before? You iron them once dry and then stick them together to make belly bands or you can make an entire page of glued or stitched tea bags. You can then embellish them however you like ... stamping etc and it’s just a lovely texture and something different 🇿🇦

  • @pamketron

    I wondered how long it would be before you made your own! This method works great for any size fabric width. The black lines turned out to be a great benefit of the product. Great job Gayle! Love it. You could also make small blocks to embellish and then stick to the page. Possibilities are endless my friend. 🌷🦜

    Hi Gayle! I didn’t read through all 99 comments before mine, so I don’t know if anyone else has mentioned, but if you keep a straight pin nearby, you can fringe the ends of fabric really quick and easy. 🙂. I’m also pretty sure they make double sided carpet tape in a lot thinner tape - thinner as in not so dense. Almost like regular tape thin but a wide width.

    How funny! Hubbies try their best, but sometimes they don't share our visions. I sent mine out for the small, thin button magnets to use for closures. He came home with 2 packs of different sizes of the fat round magnets. I didn't have the heart to tell him they were the wrong ones 😖 he tried, and that's what I love about him! I love the fabric washi, but I think I will wait until I am healed and can drive to get the carpet tape 😉 Thanks for giving me another project to try! By the way, I dont mind watching you 'fuss around' and find myself talking out loud with you!
