What a great documentary. Vivekananda realized the unity of all religions and he was sympathetic to the starving people in India, he founded the Ramakrishna missions in lndia to help the people with their medical needs. He was one of the great ones.
It was Swami Vivekananda which helped me many years ago to overcome my then materialistic prejudice philosophy by his books about yoga.I am still greatful to this great teacher.
I salute the Vivekananda samiti IIT kanpur for unearthing this rare documentary . Every living Indian , irrespective of his religion, should watch this video. Let temples be built in every village of India for this Divine soul . So long as his teaches remain, India shall not fail its quest for spirituality, India shall not stoop before this world in quest of material wealth . I agree Bengal has given great legends like Swamiji, Tagore, Sri Ramakrishna and the list goes on, but Swamiji received support mainly from Kings in South India and his own native Bengal was not there to help him when he needed.

I recall that back in about 1980, when my mother returned from her first trip to India since our family moved to Britain in 1967, she brought back a little pocket book of Vivekananda;s writings. At about age 15, I did not know what Vedanta meant but the stirring words of Vivekananda linking Vedanta to India's National destiny filled me with inspiration and I even told people in school back then that I wanted to teach Vedanta to the world.

I feel rethinking has to be done at two places in the documentary, first, the initiation of the first meeting by Swami ji to Sri Ramakrishna and second, the response of Sri Ramakrishna when Swami ji had approached him during the troubled time after the demise of His father. On the contrary, here we see the sincere effort to do the complete justice to our nation's Greatest Spiritual and Phenomenonal person Swami Vivekanand. I have read the complete work of Swamiiji published by Ram Krishna Mission Rajkot Gujarat. I am looking for all those 14 volumes.
