    Hey everyone! What's your best method for lifting cars? Do you use jack stands, or ramps, or both? I'd love to hear your opinions. Cheers!

    Thank you for the informative video tutorial delivered with a friendly, professional demeanor! Just as an FYI for the viewers, the thin metal jack points on the sides of the vehicle are oftentimes referred to as ‘pinch weld joints’. I am sure there are likely other terms, as well. Keep up the fine work!

    This is the most helpful video and pretty much the only good video I can find on how to jack up this car. I was working on a 15 sonata and needed to change rear brake pads, but picking it up from the trunk didnt help because it kept wanting to cave in I found it easier to put the jack underneath the coil spring on the rear crossmember theres this cup where the jack pad fits nice

      Thanks for the kind words Daniel Cams! I'm glad you found this video helpful! I like your suggestion as well and I'm glad you were able to find a good solution. :)

    I think this is really good thank you very much. Also no I haven’t found the center point either. I am lifting the car to replace my wife’s front bumper cover clip that got busted off. Ordered it it from Chicago auto parts saved a whole ton of money putting it on myself.

      @GarageDynamics  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello PC Heaven, The center point is right past the bolt head. Be sure to use a large block of wood to distribute the weight. Glad to hear you fixed the front bumper and saved some money!

    What are those two circles next to the piece of wood you jacked under the beam. My 06 Hyundai Sonata has those and there's foam in the middle that pushes in a little when I press it.

    • @GarageDynamics
      @GarageDynamics  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Ginger Wallets! Those circles are there to function as lightening holes for the chassis.

    I've always just jacked the car up below the coil spring. Just watched because there's a nail in a friends tire and going to plug it.

      Hello paradigmnnf, I'm not sure if the same procedure will work for 2017 chassis. Hyundai might have made some changes.

    Lifting the rear by the trunk is like lifting the the front by the the oil pan - dangerous. There should be a transverse beam running from left to right of the tires! That's safe place to put your jack!

      +1, this spot shown in the video does NOT look like a good spot to lift the rear. Working on a friend's 2011 Sonata

    Wtf... if jacking the front up by the middle why wouldn't you place both jack stands before lowering the floor jack?? Lowering the floor jack with only one stand in place seems risky.. but I'm just a noob so idk.

    • @GarageDynamics
      @GarageDynamics  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello MindAintRite, The Hyundai Sonata does not have a center jack point. Also, both jack stands are in use during the final operation. Cheers!

    When I tried to jack up my 2012 Sonata under the trunk as you suggested it didn’t lift my car up high enough to get the wheels off the ground and I tried under the arm for a second then quit when it looked like piece was about to bend 😔
