Oh there’s a better explanation than that (even though it doesn’t make the movie any better): it was originally going to be a Disney+ series. The larger cast of characters and the slowly built up plot points would work better if it was happening over the course of a TV show that would’ve lasted longer rather than just one movie.
Critics have become obsessed with how a movie is formatted over the soul and joy of a film. Too many people think that for an animated film to be good, it must hit the level of Pixar's Coco or Wall-E. Not even to be great, just good. Which is why many critics are seen as out of touch. Being an entertaining movie matters and audiences love that. Critics need to reconsider their way of thinking before they become completely irrelevant.5
Moana 2 is the return of direct to dvd sequels. It is made with outsorced animation, a cut up tv series, and made hella money in theaters so unfortunately we’ll see more of this.
I have no idea what is even happening with Disney nowadays, first "Strange World" failed, then "Wish" and now "Moana 2", I feel like Disney has really lost it's magic haven't they -_-
I agree! I don’t see Moana 2 as a must see. I felt like the pacing was rushed in the beginning, but then slowed down. The only 2 good songs were “Get Lost” and “Beyond.” I gave it a 7/10! I also felt like the character who sang, “Get Lost” was mis-interpreted. I thought she was an actual villain to hurt Moana, but she helped her?? And then she had her fingers crossed at the end when talking to her “boss” at the end when she claimed that she didn’t help her. Idk, for when Moana 3 comes out in like… 2-3 years from now, I hope it makes things a lot more clearer.
They told they crew that it was gonna become a film in JANUARY. I can't imagine the panic. What was the original film for 2024 going to be, and why couldn't "Moana 2" be pushed to 2025 or 2026 instead?
@JellyJessYT Jared Bush said the ONLY reason this worked out was because the animation portion happens in the last 12 months of production (though being told in January only gives them 10). Guess that explains why the story and music were subpar; they had no time to adapt it to an epic film. A similar thing happened with "Strange World"; "Raya and the Last Dragon" experienced a MAJOR overhaul in the last 7 months (no idea why and what all was changed) including Don Hall joining as a director and Qui Nguyen as a co-screenwriter, with members from SW being brought on to work for it. By the time it was done, they still had 20 months to work on SW (and apparently they thought they left it in a good place), but 7 months could've been eye-opening for them. Qui and Don's work hasn't impressed me with either project, though.
A straight to DVD sequel but in theaters. This would have been better as a limited Disney+ series that led up to an eventual Moana 2 movie but hey at least Moana 3 will be meant to be a movie
When I was little I watched you with my sister and you only had a few 100 subs and no much videos but I loved your channel. But now you have 1000s I’m so proud of you jelly Jess !!
I saw Moana 2 as soon as it came out and there was a few things that bothered me about the film. Yes, the film as a whole was okay but I also agree that it should had just been split up into shorts that were posted on Disney Plus because at least that way the creators could had fleshed out each character trait as well as the story arc with the voyagers as well as the villains
I really hate the fact that I found out about the death/demigod thing through this and not the actual movie - so much goes unexplained and I was confused for half of it. I get they're trying to create "mystery", but it's not done well when you have no idea what's happening as a result.
Personally it was so good.. i was crying throughout the entire thing. They accomplished everything they ever wanted to accomplish. Moana 2 had more meaning to it than Moana 1, but dont get me wrong I LOVE Moana 1. I watched it when it first came out. But Moana 2 felt more special in some way, which makes it more interesting and better to me.

unfortunately the whole film felt like more excuses for merchandise because why were there so many new characters that did NOTHING 🙏

@@AarnaAmbardar-n5d …without going into a ridiculous essay, I’ll just say I disagree and that things are more complicated than that.
@@edmg7 i really like it :)
@@edmg7 search up smarty pants moana 2 reviews:)
Our expectations were too high because Moana 1 was so good 😭
It’s basically just a direct to vhs sequel. They cut up a Disney plus series from outsourced animation

It was literally the same movie in a different font (they changed it to comic sans)

Maui; YOU ARE THE FATHER!!!
I feel like making sequels to great movies is just leeching off the success of the original. Don't get me wrong, loads SLAP
Wow thanks for the warning ⚠️
Got an ad for Moana 2 before this video lol
It wasn’t worth the wait but I liked it a lot!

Exactly like there was way too much going on but also they brushed over important things!!
Thanks for talking about this so I know whether watching it will be a waste of time. 👍
