  • After the FIA dropping the their investigation into allegations against Toto & Suzie Wolff you would assume we're back to normal and all is well. I'm afraid not.
I think that we are just at the beginning of lengthy battle between F1, the Teams and the FIA. Toto already has a chip on his shoulder from the FIA due to Michael Masi in 2021 but this was an attack on his reputation. But the thing is was the FIA right? Was Toto in the right? And why did the teams all come together to stick up for Mercedes? Or despite everything, is everyone just telling lies and cheating their way through the sport? In the public eye, hardly anyone in F1 is squeaky clean so lets take a look who's telling Truth or Lies from the FIA & Wolff Controversy!

This whole story doesn’t make sense. The FIA did nothing wrong except closing the “investigation” so quickly.
Firstly there was a rumor of wrong doing so they investigated and as the governing body its there job to investigate.
Secondly, why should they have spoken to Mercedes or the Wolffs before the investigation opened? If a sanitation inspection of a restaurant is to be genuine, you don’t let the party in question know when you’re coming otherwise you won’t get accurate results.
Thirdly, for all of the teams to come out as a united front when this doesn’t truly affect them. While they block Andretti while they are a 100% net gain for everyone. Shows something is aery with the whole of F1.
And fourthly how is this a story to begin with. It’s not like the Wolffs have been keeping their marriage a secret. Of course information is going to cross the dinner table. And how would they regulate that! Put secret audio recorders in their house?!

A correction is that it's not the FIA, but Bernie and Max being able to divide and conquer and kept the teams in check. You can criticize them, but one thing is they get things done. I strongly believe that if Bernie was in charge now Andretti would have received their F1 entry way sooner.
For the break away series, this has been a grift that F1 teams play all the time in the past, I don't believe they are serious but I dare them to try. I don't think the outcome will be a solid product and strong as what F1 is now. The CART/IRL split affect Indycar for a very long time and it's only recently that they are getting back to being more popular. These teams are all out for each other, so I don't see how they can agree and put together a unifying fair governance system to replace the FIA. F1 got so lucky with the netflix and social media marketing, but there are so many things that can be done to improve the show. Right now it is a very unfair system for the smaller teams, so far I see that the cost cap only lock in the advantages of the big guys.
I'm not defending FIA either, I lost my respect for them after what happened in 2015 and they created their own internal group to absolve themselves from any wrong doing. I am dubious about Jean Todt as he is a UN member, so he cater the FIA and the sport toward a certain direction, maybe I'm just paranoid, but I think it led F1 and other FIA series (WRC) down path that didn't produce great racing and unnecessary complexity. But still you can't deny how important FIA are to motorsport worldwide, even series that are not owned by FIA still rely on their standards and benefit from their work on safety research. They do need to wrestle power back from FOM otherwise I think F1 will turn more into a shamble, which doesn't matter to me anymore as I'm not in love with F1, the political intrigue and drama are fun to follow, but as a racing product I'll be watching WEC and MotoGP instead.

Lewis started multiple conspiracy theories about (amongst others) flexible floors last season. If that’s considered normal behaviour things like these may be expected and will always happen.
It was about time Horner returned the favour. And there will always be ways to do so, no matter the details, no matter who is in charge of the FIA.
Does Mercedes find false accusations annoying? Good. Stop spreading them if you want them gone from F1.
Keep spreading them and obviously you will get some in your face from time to time. It’s that simple.

You call Toto a dick, everyone's like "yup, I can see that." Anyone says anything about Susie "WHAT DID YOU SAY!?! I just want to talk to you. That hole and shovel? Don't worry about that."
