There was a game that pre-dated this one called psi-ops the mindgate conspiracy you'd like that one too it came out before and it was SO similar to this game!
Really just came across it at Steam, like at 2012 or something. The concept is fascinating, the powers are just right so that going rambo is quite difficult but not by any margin "weak". Despite being a story-driven game, the powers make you feel like a sandbox god (but still mortal if you get into a firefight, making the difficulty just right). In conclusion, I would like to see this game remastered for VR especially. It's both like a puzzle and action, making a perfect candidate for VR where you don't need to move much (psychic powers), and requires to solve something like a mini-puzzle for each encounter.

That game was awesome, really a gem among the games from my childhood. The possession ability was my favourite :)

Technically the game Control, has a lot of abilities similar to this. So I'd consider it somewhat of a succesor.
