It would be easier for the jury members to sue. As private citizens they have a lower bar for proof of defamation, than public figures do.

Unfortunately, a little of both. Trump isn't "out of it" enough to fall of the trap....yet. Judge Merchan is fearful of the MAGA Supreme Court so he has to make sure the appeals courts will flat deny Trump's appeal.
Yet again, he gets what he wants and gets away with his crimes. The identities of the jurors should continue to be protected. No justice and no real accountability!

The jury is still protected. Trump can talk about jurors in general, but cannot talk about specific jurors or provide information on where they live or work.

As someone who worked with teens on probation, it ALWAYS ends up being kind of a dare (don't break this rule or else). The probationer basically says, "ok, or else what? what are you going to do?" In Trump's case not only is he on the same emotional/psychological level as a teenager, but he is also someone who has already learned that consequences really don't apply to him in any serious way. If he is placed on probation, it will not be a consequence at all and won't stop any of his behaviors whatsoever. If anything, it will likely be used to his advantage in proving to his followers that he is untouchable when he violates the terms of his probation, and nothing happens. It's basically being found innocent for a man in his position.
I think someone will be so peeved about the orange menace getting away with so much that that someone(s) just might snap & try to handle things on their own if it appears the justice system is not doing their job. And that could be someone very well versed in that kind of stuff...former military or that idea.

It seems that if someone is unhappy with a situation then they would make sure they vote to change the situation they are unhappy about. Donnie breaking the justice system is just another thing Donnie broke with everything Donnie happens to touch. Donnie has never fixed anything to make things better especially for someone other than Donnie. Not that Donnie has done anything good for his own life without depending on other people to do that for him. Seems you'd want to vote to change not only that but keep the wreckage out of the White House in charge of the country ... none of that makes any sense to put someone as that in charge of the most powerful country. I think Judge Merchan has been very smart in handling the entire Trump debacle with grace and courtesy to everyone involved. I am looking forward to the sentencing hearing in hopes the judge will hold Trump appropriately accountable.

He will get a minimum of 10 months for the 10 contempt charges, beginning July 11, and they are
are not able to be appealed. Meanwhile, if he applies 30 days for each felony, his time in jail will be
close to 4 total years when combined with the contempt sentencing. This will allow more than enough
time to convict him in the other cases so he won't be seeing freedom ever again.

The jury should have remained protected in the order. Is this "out of sight, out of mind"? If any of the jurors report harassment or worse, this will discourage any future jury pool from being impartial. This is a mistake.
If this bothers you and you live in New York, tell your representatives in government. They are the ones who write the laws.

That’s unfortunate. I don’t see why the law can’t recognize the disparity in income, access to media, power. This has a chilling effect on future witnesses and jurors.

I see a man who wears a MAGA hat almost every morning at the Gas station near my home. We take turns holding the door open and have small talk in line. We've become good acquaintances. I'm as Democrat as it's gets. I'm a retired professional guitar player and I look like one. I've never judged him and he's never judged me. We get along just fine. We did have one conversation one morning talking about our differences in opinion politically. It was super chill. He said one thing I'll never forget. He said he'll always vote for trump, but he said that "Real men don't complain and blame everything on other people. Real men shut their mouth and do their God Damn job." It's the one thing he's super disappointed with. Wish there were more of him.

As a non-American I am baffled by the decision to drop juror protection. Surely it is obvious that juror harassment is likely to follow and this would have implications.
I am dismayed that he didn't have to take a drug test with the probation office. I work in that system and cannot believe they waved the requirement. If he didn't want to give a urine sample since this had to be witnessed, they could have requested blood.
