After this reaction video I listened to André 3000 "New Blue Sun" almost every night as I went to sleep. It's a serene collection of sounds that I'm proud 3 Stacks was able to create and share with us. It will do a lot of good for the culture and for people's mental health long term. I as a Hip Hop fan still wish we had more music from him as a lyricist, but If this brotha is happy, that's all that matters.

well said Brother. I really get what your First reaction was in the first place. But Like we said before sometimes our greats may fail our expectations of them. But we grow and move on from it and get better at Interpreting Life. He is an Aquarius Like me so sometimes we see the world Outside from the place we reside in - what i didnt warm up too was the small instances he was slightly dismissive about matters of the culture ( ? ) but this man HAS seen Success from ways and angles we may Never see in our Lifetime and Aquarius Men Like their Private time. where the Noise is dampened - we think our best in Our own nerdy quirky ways... we are Blessed to witness this man at a time he was there to challenge the sonic Perceptions of Our ears - But Like the Comic Book ( KINGDOM COME ) superman had to retreat alone in his space while the world still have to move. let's love that brother where he at right now and let's carry this baton he left so we can open a new wave of thoughts he would be proud by....

It seems people forget his amazing run of feature guest verses for MANY YEARS! His more recent verses (“Scientists & Engineers” which was THIS year on Killer Mike’s album “Michael”) and (“life of the party” his feature on Kanye’s song) shows me he knows what to rap about as a grown man. This is not to talk of ALL THE OTHER amazing features he has done year in and year out. He’s been saying A LOT in those verses!
I have accepted that Andre is not a solo rap artist. He started with his partner Big Boi in Outkast and is comfortable doing features not rapping for a whole album on his own. He’s NEVER done that!!
We all made the mistake of thinking he’s a solo rap artist because of his amazing features and work in Outkast
He’s not the solo rap star we thought. Even his “the love below” side of that double disc had only one full rap song
He is still a legend just not a solo rap artist and i respect his right to express himself however he chooses. He owes us NOTHING.

I still haven’t listen to this album but after seeing this I guess I will. Lastly, his transition out of the life is what he don’t want to give up to make robot music. If he going to interject himself back into society it’ll only be for music that moves his soul. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. So I’m going to get my hang drum bc I bet 3000 would love it and it pairs well with that flute sound and meet him at that laundry Mat with bars & sounds and chai green tea and see what type of music we can make. tbh idk why people are so pressed about him not wanting to rap. He is a real artist and rapping is just another medium to him. If he doesn't feel like he can express himself through the medium of rap and could do it better through instrumentation and wind instruments, then that's him being true to himself and his output, It's the most authentic expression he can make at this moment. The last thing I would want from him is to put out rap music that he doesn't fully stand behind. He's clearly happy with himself, and he wasn't happy when fans were pestering him about dropping a rap album. I feel like some people who are only rappers and not into other forms of art don't understand this. It's like ya'll feel like him not wanting to rap is a slap to the face or sum and feel the need to sound like you're offended. He is a human being not just a rapper, he doesn't owe anyone jack sh**. His biggest songs as a solo artist, at lest to me, are Hey Ya and Prototype, and he didn’t rap in either of those. In a way... I'm glad I didn't put in work trying to become a star. Having to live your life based on what others want and feel they want from you to make them feel good about themselves has got to be frustrating and mentally nerve wrecking. One reason I stopped writing love ballads, was because the reality of being in a relationship rarely matched genuine love. A woman or man, is usually involved for some kind of gain, especially if you turn out to not be what they want. I don't create my music based on what people want to hear... I'm the "Artist", I create music to be listened to. If you don't like it, go buy a Rap Album! He has a right to become a full grown man; he can't continue being a child forever, saying and doing what he did in early life: why is this so hard for people to understand? He's new... with a fresher idea that expresses who he is, how he feels, and what he's thinking. There's nothing wrong with him, there's something wrong with ya'll. Peace

I think you are missing what Andre is actually doing.. he’s prioritizing his feelings and emotional well being over commerce. As someone who’s close I. Age to Andre and been in the industry.. it’s more about being human and living life than trying to create art for the masses. You got his catalogue.. let’s be happy with that.

I believe I understand where he is. I have asked myself the question bow long do I want to do this. I am a producer writer recording artist and overall I just love to create. I'm sure I can always find something from my life to speak on. However, when will I do whatever else there is to do. I love 3 stacks but I stopped waiting for him to drop "THE" Album not because of belief in skill but because I believe in his artistry. His flute Album inspired me more because I've always wanted to drop an album of nothing but guitar and never did. Look at my number 1 though. He said I don't feel like rapping and pulled out the woodwind 😂. I believe the meaning in this is we don't have to rap forever and we can stop or pursue other passions of so desired and that alone moves me. Thank you for posting this video and sorry for the long read lol.

nobody is giving credit to this man + how ahead they were writing the stuff they were + making the sounds they were. it’s why he’s always called one of the greats even *if* he don’t have a solo (which is a weird goalpost to prop up but y’all have fun lol).
he ain’t got nothing to talk about cause he’s said everything + thass what artists do. they go live life + experience + learn + put that in their work. and that work is wherever they wanna put their energy. nobody understood that man but the people around him + the one next to him and it shows. let him breathe.

3 Stacks tripping mayne…When he was in his 20’s his lyrical content was much older than his age, guess what we loved it…Now he’s actually in mid life and i thank now that we’ve grown as well and our mindset and vocabulary has grown and his raps would be more effective today to our ears now than ever!!!
He tripping he needs to start back rapping as a producer and artist and a fan of real
lyrics and bars to relate to,music is art…
    Art is ageless…

3:11 timing and momentum. The only artists that last are the ones who play instruments this looks better on you as a accomplished older man. He already surpassed the rap thing. Just like miles Davis went for doing jazz to experimental electronic music. Hip hop is kids music, this is the perfect example of the fact that there is much more to black artists than making fools of them selves. Most want to keep it that way 🤔 listened to the whole album, it’s an awesome piece of work, I need a vinyl of it.

  • @apextraxx2903

A rapper named Triple J from West Palm Beach has a song called " black man " where he talks about getting colonoscopy. He said say it " colonoscopies Go get them polypse popped , treat your body light your Impala drop at the body shop." .. And he's an older rapper. I think Andre just doesn't relate to the culture the way he used to. And that's okay he's already a legend.

people were made at Radiohead when they took their music into an electronic direction, paranoid android is the greatest album of all time where are you supposed to go from that? its the same reason why Eminem doesn't do concept rap anymore just battle rap. What applies to artist that reached the highest level in their field is just going in a different direction, it always feels sad when our favourite artist don't make the same styles anymore but going in a different direction is natural progress. I haven't listened to Andre's flute album yet but i love that he finally found to create art in a genre something that would be scary for most from hip hop. When your at his level and you don't have anything to prove and money is good, i would assume you would want to offer something you think the world would need, hence the flute album.

  • @johnlant1730

Listening to Andre 3000 play the flute is like watching Michael Jordan play baseball. Its cool but a waste of a gift. I was watching an interview with Andre where he said he gave a lackluster performance in one of the previous Outcast reunions in 2014 and he got a phone call from Prince. Prince said to him, " You know what your problem is? You don't understand how good you really are." 48 is not old. He is old because in his mind he thinks he's old. He lacks the confidence he may have had when he was younger. I wish someone could work with him to get that swagger back.

Ehhh. Im admittedly divided on this topic...I disagree with 3000s viewpoint on continuing to "rap" at his age, but at same time, in THIS current era, I can understand not being inspired by much 😕... when you don't love something anymore, you can't force it...I've had that feeling before as a producer so I get it...

He is terrified of losing the love and the respect or worse failure.
The pedestal we put him on is so high he can't look down at the humanity and the simplicity of art.
an apple on a tree, on your hand, in your belly and in the toliet is art.. It is as easy as that. your mere perspective alone is art. nothing more nothing less.
