  • Here we show how to clean a Snowmobile Carburetor. This one came off of a Ski Doo, But most snowmobiles use this type of carburetor.
    For a more detailed video and better explanation of the inner workings of a carb, please refer to the following video series by Louis Skebo (PowerModz):

    Yes. The Carbs on that sled are the same as this. They use a mikuni just like this one.

    Well, I'd say run a compression test and see if the new head gasket is good. If that checks fine check the adjustments on the carburetors and make sure they are in synch.

    Great video. Could you make a video on the choke? I just bought a new carb just like the one you used in the video and mine didn’t come with the choke push pull plug. It just had a hallow brass something

    I would count the number of turns until it's seated all the way in. Then when re-inserting turn it all the way in and turn it back out that same number of turns.

  • @sweetmarie68
    @sweetmarie68 11 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    When you removed the idle screw, did you count the amount of turns and re-insert it the same number or did you measure the barrel height and adjusted both carbs to the same height?

    Im not sure. Try searching around on google and such to see what kind of carbs came on that particular sled.

    As long as it has a Mikuni Carb on it, it will be the same as this

  • @BeastlyAlaskan
    @BeastlyAlaskan 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I think it might be something with the idle screw. Maybe. Whenever i mess around with it i seem to get more power and lose power. I messed up when taking them out and forgot to count PTO turns. MAG was 11. I tried 11 on each side and ran horrible. Idle at 4.2 RPM. I'm out of ideas though.

  • @WeekendHandymen
    @WeekendHandymen  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I'd do some research and search around and make sure you have the adjustment screws right. Make sure you have them at that baseline and see it goes then. Trying to adjust things and getting it to run right without really knowing if it was at least in the right starting point doesn't work, i've tried only to find out later that I was starting with it all out whack.

  • @BeastlyAlaskan
    @BeastlyAlaskan 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    I did some repairs on my carb and my sled hasnt been running good since. It idles good but after 6 RPM it sounds scratchy and really weak. All i did was remove my head gasket and take apart the whole carbs. I did it before minus the gasket work. What happened was inside the top of my carbs is the therottle placement thing. but the MAG side of it came off and it wouldn't run good. was running on only the PTO. But since repairing that my engine hasn't been running good. Not sure what to do. Ideas?

    I pulled a carburetor off of a really old 2 cylinder snomobile today. It says Toledo, Ohio, and has a bunch of number/letter codes on it. Are the codes a casting date, or do they mean something else?

    You might have to use a lot of some kind of penetrating oil.

  • @WeekendHandymen
    @WeekendHandymen  11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Yes, your carb should be similar to this one.

  • @stevenjeske4002
    @stevenjeske4002 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't think he's too experienced in that because you seen when he was putting the carburetor bowl back together on the carburetor that he had a problem of which way it should go when wet one of the floats are out of it so hold demonstration should have been with somebody that was I think more experienced in cleaning Carburetors in this guy

      There are so many things that could be causing causing the issue that I could write several paragraphs on here and still not help you. Your best bet will be to find a forum (such as arcticchat) where other users can help you diagnose the issue step-by-step

    Dump in a container of coca cola overnight. Cheaper than carb cleaner. Rinse with water, allow to air dry then reassemble. Never failed me yet.

    How do you remove the throttle cable

  • @BeastlyAlaskan
    @BeastlyAlaskan 11 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ran compression check and it checks at 120 120. But for some reason MAG seems a little bit lower than normal. I changed the head gasket(again) and still no power. Has to be something with the carbs. Feels kinda like a primary clutch failure but still has that low end power so cant be that. I will take out the carbs again. They are flat top carbs. I don't want to bring it to the shop because they are uneducated money lovers and would deff lie to make a easy buck.

  • @fetterly2320
    @fetterly2320 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    my compression is 140 and the other side is 150 would that be ok? also fouling a good amount of plugs, should i just clean the carbs? 1998 formula z 670

    • @WeekendHandymen
      @WeekendHandymen  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Fetterly 670s seem to like to foul plugs. I wouldn't worry about a difference of 10 PSI in the compression from one cylinder and the other.

    She does not demonstrate on all of the offices in the carburetor that should be blowing out with carb cleaner and then use that air Chuck to blow them out so he did not do a real complete carburetor cleaning job because one of those portals in the carburetor body itself could be plugged and he did not show how to do that
