Love this Zoe! I also don't count my car in my net worth. I JUST reached a $100K net worth in March (at 30 years old)...you'll definitely get there soon with these numbers. It took me 2 years and 3 months to go from $0 to $100K which was much easier/faster than going from -$82K to $0 (becoming debt free).
@@serenasneddon I documented everything on my channel! Lol but really it started with budgeting and tracking my spending. I started reducing expenses and throughout the years I've worked on increasing my income (job changes and side hustles). Money became like a game to me and eventually got easier and easier!
Hi Zoe, you have a ready good start! I was your age when I started my investment portfolio. I had a lot less than 60k when I started. I am now 43, I have a net worth of now 410k. You have everything to make it happen, I wish you best of luck and I will follow you on your journey ❤
So proud of you for making that appointment with the dentist! I had a long crazy journey with one tooth (and multiple surgeries related to it) and spend A LOT of money on it, with a dental insurance. It’s a less glamorous form of self care , but an important one. You’ve got this 💪
@@ms.z461 hey hey 👋 I turned 39 in April - I’ve got another 11 month - I’m positive I will. After that I will chill out for a bit though - it’s a bit obsessive 🤢. It’s really cool you asked though. What’s your story?
@@ms.z461 hello back, I think you can do it - I’ve been a steady full time job since I was 29 after having a kid and graduating quite late because of it. The first three years I wasn’t very well paid and also paid off the „little“ debt that I had (~10k). So having 22k at that point you’re far ahead. Consistency is key - but also remember to live a little and grab opportunities when they arise. Like going to the movies with your friends for 40 bucks - it might sting but you had a good time. I’m just learning that :)
@@ZoePritchard Yes! Since for most people, once you get to $100k, a large portion of it is investments that are also working for you. When you really start out and you are building that foundation you've talked about, the money you are putting towards debt or towards an emergency fund, that isn't then growing itself as much as investments (obviously your emergency fund should be in the HYSA so you should be earning a bit of interest on it).
The first 100k is the longest and hardest (in terms of motivation especially)!! It took me 3 years and took me another 2 to get to $1M. You’ve got this ♥️

I feel like I'm so far behind 🥺 but your video and the positive vibes really motivate me to get going 💪🏻 as you said it's better to start small than not starting at all ❤ it might take a little longer, but it's time to do it 😊
Great goal Zoe! When I was in my 20s, I set a goal to have $80k in investments by the time I was 30, and then based on 8% compounding interest I would have $1 million by the time I retired. I hit that goal and later realized that this is the concept of Coast FIRE 😎 Just for fun, calculate how much your money would grow after 20 years with initial balances of $100k, $200k, and $500k and 8% growth. You'll be surprised! Like Charlie Munger said, the first $100k is the hardest! ❤ Good luck Zoe!
I am so proud of you Zoe. And I can definitely relate to the tendency to sit back at the sign of first results - I am the same way 😫 we need to keep each other accountable!!
This is a great goal, Zoe. I'm not in the same financial situation as you but this is still motivating me to make progress on my huge student loan debt. Even though we're in different places, we're in this together! ❤
Great video! I'm starting my own journey to $100k net assets also! It looks like it'll take another 2.5 years which is exciting and glad I found this channel!
Love this goal and this video! I’m on a journey to own a home mortgage free before I turn 30, and I LOVE watching others working on huge financial goals like mine! Rooting for you!
Hi Zoe❤, I am regular watcher I usually don’t comment on videos, However I really like your outfit. I just started watching this video. I am sure I will enjoy it as usual. Thanks for sharing your journey with us😊.
So exciting about your journey to 100k and huge congrats on paying off all that debt! Side note to anyone reading: please don’t buy an Hermes bag (or any clothing/accessory item) thinking it’s an asset - it’s 100% a liability. It’s wildly rare that someone will pay full price for a luxury handbag that’s been used, therefore it cannot be considered an appreciating asset. That said, if someone wants to buy a luxury brand item for shits & giggles to enjoy their life - and they can reasonably afford it - then have at ‘er. 🎉👜
I made a cup of tea and started watching the video! You are doing incredible Zoe. I am so happy and proud of you. You inspire me so much as I also am trying to reach some financial goals so I feel like we are in this together. You got this!❤
You’re doing so good!!! My goal is to max out my Roth by the end of Q2 (2024 max is $7k). I’m super ADHD so I have to set quarterly goals, hyper fixate on that goal until it’s achieved and then move on to the next goal lol.
You totally got this! Also, dental work expenses are the worst. They are so necessary but so expensive 😩 I had a crown done in January. Then had 4 more fillings needing replacement. Something like $1600 out of pocket after insurance paid $1k. Hopefully I'm done with teeth for the year!
So cool you have this goal! I remember my first 100K, got pretty lucky all I did was sell a house I had been living in for a few years, property values spiked, and I sold. I remember receiving that cheque it almost didn't seem real to me.
Really appreciate the shoutout and partnership with a Canadian company. So hard to find TH-cam content both made by Canadians and featuring Canadian products - or even products accessible to Canadians.
Love this video! A piece of advice for anyone starting to track their net worth - When I was 24 with my first “real” job, I made a decision to start tracking my net worth and created a spreadsheet with the balances in each of my accounts that I updated each month. I’ve kept the habit up over the past seven years - it just takes 5-10 minutes a month! - and can now look back and see how much of a difference my personal finance choices have made. Seeing how the number has grown is so much more rewarding to me than seeing the number itself. Really recommend!
This is so inspirational. I’m a bit behind where you’re at and this helped me find some direction. Im 24M and graduated in may starting from like -20k net worth. I’m following the Ramsey baby steps strategy, but I’m at a weird spot where I just finished my 10k emergency fund, am currently trying to save 10k for a car fund since I drive a super old car, and should be able to hit a net worth of about 50k by the end of the year or early next year. It’s been hard for me to context switch from the fast progress of paying off student loans, to getting ready for the significantly longer grind of saving for retirement and a house down payment and just general life things. Thank you for being so detailed at this stage in your journey. Hope you meet your awesome goals!
Loved this video! This is going to be a great series!!! Can’t wait to see it come to fruition! I also really liked your look in this blog- hair , makeup and outfit were on point 👍🏼🔥
Inspiring video! I am on my 100k journey as well (goal is 3 years), after finally becoming debt free (no more pesky student loans!) just this past November :)
Comparing the achieving of initial goals in personal fitness and financials initiatives is so real and relatable. This can be applied to so many categories of our lives; career, content creation/creative pursuits, finance, etc. Keep up the great work Zoe!
Remember your FHSA as well. Might be better to contribute there first than RRSP. You get the Tax credit and if you don't use it you can just add it to your RRSP aways. If you Max out your FHSA in 5 years time, you will have 40K (plus interest) and 35K from RRSP you can use to buy your first home.
Congrats it looks like you're on the right track! When I was your age I had about the same in investments and now at 30 its grown to almost 200k. Trust that the second 100k is AT LEAST 2 or 3 times easier and faster to get. Keep it up!

Our lives couldn't be more different. Building wealth is a long way off for me since I have a ton of student loans. I have to get out of the negatives!

Pay off your loans first starting from the smallest to largest. Unless you can guarantee your investments outpace your debt % every year. Once the debt is paid off your savings will grow more exponentially.
There are certain things we build and grow that I wish were in net worth but alas not the case under capitalism.
