Again, this isn't the big project I was telling you guys about (I'll have an update on that soon) but I've been hooked onto undertale recently and thought death cab for cutie's song follow you into the dark was the perfect tone for Goat mom (I miss her ; _ ;)

This is breaking me inside. Toriel's views are so easy to agree with, and therefore all the more heartbreaking. Given the way she had her real children taken from her, this is so powerful. It leaves her with an overpowering need to protect and care for fallen children, and keep them away from the outside world. The entire Dreemurr family seems to be a concoction of ways to make me cry my eyes out...

I’ve been in a really dark place for the past few months, with no one to really pull me out. I clicked on this video on accident and it was a literal miracle. I started crying the instant the first word escaped your lips and couldn’t stop for almost 15 minutes. I guess what I’m saying is thank you for showing me there is still light left in this world and I need only look a little harder for it to save me.

I was reading (EDIT:)*Dreemurr* Reborn comics...the feels...are real...
+Creeperagent I don't really like those honestly. Frisk has had it really bad and isn't acknowledged much as their own character besides from Asriel. It's implied that Frisk had a hard life before coming to the mountain. They might've even come there to die, like Chara. There is also a hint of this if you name yourself Frisk it activates hard mode and brings up the text "This name will make your life hell. Proceed anyway?". It's just not fair they work so hard to help everyone and then end up not being able to live their life. As hard as Asriel's life as been, he's lived for thousands of years, while Frisk is about 10-12 making decisions like that. It also throws away the canon of Asriel needed 7 souls or equivalent to reform. That's why he didn't when he gets 6 in the neutral ending. It's not like he didn't want to. However, I do think it's hilarious when he's chosen to play a flower in the school play.
Heather Ok, that's your opinion. However, I never really thought about that much of Frisk...Also, about that "canon" bit...it doesn't completely throw that out. He doesn't have a SOUL during "The Choice", and Frisk gave him his, allowing Asriel to stay himself, and actually have a second chance at life. I think that in the end of the TP Route, if Asriel were to gain a SOUL of his own, just one, before turning back into Flowey, then he can stay Asriel. By the time he was Flowey, it was far too late to just gain one and come back(Oh mah goodness I would get the feels from this in a fan-comic series). But, that's just a theory. But, again, you not liking Dreemurr Reborn is your opinion, and fine by me.
+Heather asriel and flowey were never one and the same. Flowey only possessed asriel' mind and memories, he didn't have his soul. Flowey was more like a machine with someone else's mind. That's why in the neutral end he couldn't get his true body back. He may have had the power of 6 human souls but was still missing his own. In the true ending when flowey tried to absorb all the souls in the underground, asriel's soul got in the mix, and when asriel's mind and soul were reunited he could finally gain back his true form.

No. Asriel died and his essence was spread onto the flower through his dust. Then Flowey was a being with Asriel's essence given life. His lack of a soul only meant he could no longer feel love. His soul was gone when he died. His mind was revived and that is what Flowey is. When he absorbed every soul in teh Underground, his was not sitting around, it was gone when he died. With power equivalent to seven human souls in the True Ending he has god like powers and therefore turning himself back is no big deal, but he can't give himself a soul. He was able to feel and feel a lot of love towards Frisk because of the monster souls inside him that loved Frisk.

I don't know which is more heartbreaking: the artwork or the song itself. Together they paint a very powerful mental picture that touches on a very real adult fear: the fear of your precious child going out from under your protection and into harm's way.
Every father on the planet knows that gnawing fear all too well, every mother has it a hundred times worse, and Toriel is shaking and sobbing in terror because she has lost not only one but *several* children. And now despite all her efforts to keep him from leaving, Frisk is about to head out the doors. So it's no wonder she tells Frisk not to come back - so that when he doesn't come back she can pretend it's because she said not to...and not because Frisk was killed as well.
Those tears aren't just because she'll miss her child. She's mourning Frisk in advance.
Reading this out loud to myself, it has hit a deep spot and now I realize how much this song and artwork are meaning put together... Thank you for pointing this out and now this is also one of my favorite songs ((Even though I am extremely late))

Liked, favorited, subscribed, and commented. This is the content that deserves those four honors. That was tremendously beautiful and hard to listen to at some points. Toby Fox truly made characters that could last a life time. I really liked the lines about Asgore and Toriel's tragically differing views on what should be done with humans. I loved the lyrics in this one, and the beat was catchy, and almost folksy like something you would sing to yourself when you reminiscence about the events that took place in the Underground.

Well, I say betray. What I'm referring to is in the beginning when you leave her to go into the underground. That hug, then when she turns for one last glance... It makes me feel like I betrayed her. She only wants to protect you after all.
Takashi Sukura True, but if you do the true pacifist route you get to save everyone in the underground, see her in the end and choose to be adopted by her. So I don't think of it as a betrayal that way.

I uhhh, finally got around to playing Undertale, as of making this comment and the beginning of the freaking game and I'm already crying because of how sweet this entire part of the game really is.
Seeing how Toriel treats you like you're her very own literal child from the very start of the adventure, defending you from the very first enemy that originally was going to kill you if she didn't step in, teaching you certain things about the game, giving you a cellphone so you can communicate with her anytime, and even going as far as showing you her nice, little house where she prepares you a special pie she was preparing, turns the lamp light off if you choose to go to sleep and leaves a slice of pie for you the first time you do sleep, and on top of all that, she even forbids you from reaching the only well known exit from the underground world....
If you constantly show mercy to her in the fight taking every attack she throws at you, you can tell that deep down, she really regrets hurting you even though we don't know much about each other and even still, showing mercy to her, her attacks eventually start to miss you and despite the dangers that she is aware of behind that door, she still insists of having you stay with her, but just like a real loving, caring mother would do with her child, eventually that child will grow up and want to leave and live their own life and you have to let that child leave the nest and face the dangers themselves.
This was so deep and so emotional for me that I no joke, when she left me and was able to go through that door, I literally went back to that house, just to see if I COULD see her again. Just one more time...I couldn't. I looked through the options and it hit me pretty hard that I couldn't her "Mom" when the game actually gave me the option, too.
I know I'm very late for commenting on this video (as well as playing the game itself), but this was deep.
I have two parents who truly love me and raised me well, but I mean....this was deep, beautiful, and emotional ALL at the same time and the lyrics to this song, especially with beautiful that picture, perfectly illustrates those scenes, as well as what I'm feeling, right now (as of making this comment.)

Toriel is kinda mental. Like... she just met this kid. She's got some serious problems, likely from losing her children, but still..
She lost two of her children within 24 hours. She's the queen, so she's used to taking care of people. She always wanted to be a teacher, to take care of kids and teach them things.
If that's mental then I'm insane.
I think it matches. If you were goat mom like that and you found a kid who had just fallen down, wouldn't u want to protect them from Asgore? Want to protect them from having their soul taken away?
+Nope What Gamezing said, plus Toriel is majorly lonely. As one of the Froggits mentioned the other monsters in the ruins tend to avoid her as they are intimidated by her but we don't really know why. Plus when fighting Asgore under some conditions he mentions that you remind him of his human child, and Toriel might've felt the same.
Additionally, the other humans who fell down went through the ruins, and since the exit to the ruins is in Toriel's basement, they probably met her at //some// point. She probably met them, tried to help them, and then watched them eventually leave to get murdered by Asgore, or the Royal Guard, or whoever took them down. Some of them might have even been children. And chances are, the blue soul died in the ruins as well. So that one died under her own nose.
So she really, really, //really// doesn't want you to end up like the other six (seven if you count Chara??)
This years upon years seeing children die and she's been unable to help them. She can't protect those that need it and she is upsetz
We need more pictures of the goat mom hug, and we need more emotional songs like this. I love the stuff that's coming out but it's all either super cheery, or super angry, which I have no problem with. However, this, right here, captures what this game and it's characters mean to me. It's pure, unadulterated emotion. You fall in love with these characters, and are desperately trying to hold on no matter what you do, until something comes up, and you have to go, or you have to end the game. All in all, this is absolutely beautiful.
