    I can see your interest in modern art. Myself, as well. Very interesting! In Art School, I loved mono-printing! Very much so, enjoying your videos, thank you!🌿

    I’m curious to know where you obtained such a large gelli plate? Also, I throughly enjoy watching and seeing the results of your process.

    On a large plate how do you keep the fluid acrylics from drying too fast?

    • @artwhisperer88
      @artwhisperer88  วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@susansimpson3907 you can try adding retarders to the paint, but in general I work as fast as I can.

    Do you ever use, D’Arches hot-press paper, for printing? Wondering. Some rest..is beautifully “buttery”!

    • @artwhisperer88

      Arches is like a gold standard for printmaking paper. I don't use it because it is $$$$! Maybe someday when I am better at this.

      @@artwhisperer88 I love it…adore the deck led edges! And yes…super expensive!🌿 And..I apologize my typo..I was sharing, I feel Somerset paper, is beautifully “buttery”. You say..”supple”. I absolutely understand! Love your work, dear one! And I certainly see, your admiration for Klee!

    What do you find is a good weight of paper for A3 size prints especially if reselling these as large prints or framed prints? I'm in the UK and want to try different brands of paper so am going to buy a variety of brands but I'm stuck on the best types of weight to use.
    I'm only practicing at the moment but would like to consider selling work further down the line.
    Thanks in advance for any help you can give.

      Hi Davey, a good place to start if you are still practicing is student grade watercolor paper upwards of 110 lb. When I started gel printing I used card stock, then watercolor paper. As I got more confident I use printmaking paper like Somerset by Cuthbert Mills, which is 140 lb 100% cotton.

    Do you prefer the hard silicone brayer over soft rubber brayers? I've been using a Speedball hard rubber brayer that was lying about and find that I prefer it to the new one that I just bought that is soft rubber. Your prints are lovely, haven't seen anyone doing the oversized prints before.

    • @artwhisperer88
      @artwhisperer88  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The soft brayers are good for making smooth even layers of color, while the hard ones I use to make textured surfaces. I also use the hard brayers to make my paper stencils lay flat on the gelli plate. Its good to have both, in fact I have about 5 or 6 brayers of different types and sizes

    • @travellife08
      @travellife08 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@artwhisperer88 I began trying Golden fluid phthalo blue and the soft brayer zaps it up almost immediately, have to keep adding more product to the plate. I suppose it's just a matter of getting used to the different products versus what works best with the brayer you're using.

    • @artwhisperer88

      @@travellife08 Have you tried diluting regular acrylic paint with water and using that instead of the fluid paint (its very expensive for a small bottle) I like to use Lukas or Blick acrylics which are cheaper but good quality.

    • @travellife08
      @travellife08 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@artwhisperer88 For now I've mostly been using inexpensive acrylic paints from Michael's, FolkArt brand has some good colors, since I'm still learning. I was surprised to find the Golden brand harder to work with since it dries so quickly in comparison but I do like the way it's offered in different transparencies. How do you keep your acrylic paints from drying out when working on such a large plate? Are you using any type of extender?

    • @artwhisperer88
      @artwhisperer88  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@travellife08 No extenders, just plain water and working quickly enough. It takes some practice, but you'll get the hang of it after several tries. I prefer that the paint dries fast so it doesn't smear my prints during handling.
