Very helpful video, thanks. It's been a while since the video has been posted, but I'm wondering if the encoders, jog wheel, etc also send out MIDI that could be mapped? Hard to tell from the manual. From what I've seen in videos so far, the faders, on/solo/sel, and the 8 user defined buttons can be mapped, but haven't seen any evidence of anything else. If they send MIDI then they could be used.
Mahlzeit wie sie den Kollegen unten ja erklärt haben kann man den eq ja leider nicht steuern wie sieht es denn mit dem panning aus?! Oder gehen nur Play etc und Fader Einstellungen?! Gruß
Panning ist kein Problem und auch die EQ-Einstellungen des selektierten Kanal lassen sich steuern. Meine Aussage (weiter untern) bezieht sich auf "Plugins". Die Kanaleinstellungen sehe ich nicht als Plugins an. Hoffe damit geholfen zu haben.
my "yamaha cubase usb control panel" doesnt see my yamaha 01v96v2 as a DEVICE, where is the problem?
p.s. there is no problem with studio manager - everything works great.

Sorry, I can't help you. Maybe you should contact Yamaha Support with your problem. The 01v96v2 is unfortunately no longer a current model for Yamaha. Therefore, current drivers are no longer available. I can only use the editor via a detour.

Bin mir nicht sicher. Glaube aber, dass man die Spuren über die Funktionstasten blockweise hochschalten konnte. Habe leider keine Testmöglichkeit mehr.
8 channels on 96khz and 16 channels on 44khz. You have to lower the bitrate on the mixer first and then you can have 16 channels up and down cubase
Hi, i have a Yamaha O1V96i, connected to cubase (16 ch up and 16ch back in 44khz mode) and this works fine. That connection uses the USB wire between the mixing desk and the computer. In earlier years, I used that USB connection to connect to the Yamaha Studio Manager software on my computer. My question: does anybody know if it's possible to do both Cubase AND Studio Manager on one PC and connect them both to the mixing desk? If yes: please tell me how :-)

I´m having a terrible time trying to set up the Yamaha01v96i up with Cubase 12 as you explained (16 ch up and 16ch back in 44khz mode). Can you give me exact instructions to do that? Maybe you can point me to the source of that information, Greetings from Dortmund, Germany.
Hi wie bekomme ich die Ports in den Studio Manager bzw in Cubase (9.5) angezeigt? Die finde ich leider nicht.
Was meinst Du genau? Die Kanäle des Yamaha Mixers selbst, kannst Du nicht über die Remote-Verbindung steuern - nur den internen Mixer in Cubase!

Ok, dann fehlt der USB Treiber. Im Standalone Editor (nicht Cubase!) mußt Du auch über die Settings im Studiomanager zuvor noch die Ports aktivieren. Aber ohne USB Treiber tut sich auch da nichts. Die Treiber findest Du auf den Pro-Audio Seiten von Yamaha. Viel Erfolg! Wenn Du ein Windows-System betreibst, denk dran, zuerst den Mixer einzuschalten und erst dann Cubase hochzufahren. MAC OS ist das weniger sensibel!
Danke für die Antwort. Ich arbeite mit einem Mac Book Pro. Als ich mir das Mischpult gekauft habe, hatte ich noch ein Windows System. Da hat alles geklappt. Den Driver habe ich eigentlich installiert, scheint auch unter den Systemeinstellungen auf wie zb auch von Native Instruments die USB Driver. :/
Neuesten Treiber runter laden und drüber installieren. Wenn es dann in Cubase noch immer nicht klappt, mal im Steinberg Forum nachfragen. Viel Glück!
Good video man. I have a question.......... I have Cubase Pro and the 01v96i. IS there a way to set up 16 inputs into Cubase from the 16 AD channels without having to double up Busses 1 - 8 (ch 1 - 8) and 1 - 8 (ch 9 - 16)? If I do it that way I'm getting the same signal on two channel from whatever is plugged into 9 - 16 (same signal on 9 & 1, 10 & 2, 11 & 3 etc) but I want all 16 separately. I can't find any info on this and of course the Yamaha manual is useless except to say the mixer is capable of 16 in and 16 out. Thanks in advance if you can help
I'm really sorry for that, but I can only help you to a limited extent. I do not use the mixer as an audio interface. I think you have to make the right settings in Cubase and set the routing accordingly on the mixer. I would probably configure the analog channels 1-16 as "mono" in Cubase and then again as a pair 1-2 3-4 5-6 7-8, etc. Then select the desired configuration in the channel. Also important are the routing (patch) in the mixer. But always be careful when selecting the playback source to avoid feedback. Hope I could give you at least a little tip! Unfortunately, I do not have an "i" version "of the console to check it out! Maybe Yamaha will provide me with a console - then I would also produce a video ;-)
@@Project-MDP Yamaha publish a pdf on setting up the 01v96i with cubase, its pretty straight forward, & yes you can use all 16 channels.
Hi Smoking Gun, :-), I use Cubase and a Yamaha O1v96i as well and I have it setup that I can record 16ch of mono audio at once into cubase and back. There are a few things: first: dont use busses for that + you have to patch the O1v two times to get the input signals on AD to USB out. (I can go deeper into this if you want) and secondly; this only works if you lower the sample frequenty to 48khz. feel free to send me a private message. I would love to find someone to who I can also ask questions from time to time about ths setup.
