Re: the 2nd story, I experienced a similar situation. Safe cleaned out. Felt like an idiot the next morning but grateful only cash taken and I was not harmed. Curious to know how they access the safe. Is there an override code they know about?
If the hotel didn't change the master code you just press "lock" and 0000 and it's open😂
If the safe is not built in and you have access to the top you can put tension on the round handle and hit it repeatedly on top and it might open.
There is also a very easily picked key lock..

Google translate does not do english/thai very well at all. I had a couple of experiences with it and just use it for very basic words and phrases.

Hi Dan, Hope you and William are both well. As usual, we really enjoyed your show and thought today's advice was clear, succinct and bang on the money! As someone who has travelled to Thailand many times and had more than my fair share of being stitched up, I can tell you men that if you follow Dan's advice,......these disasters CAN be avoided.
A long distance sponsor relationship is 99.9% guaranteed to be a disappointment. Living in Thailand as a sponsor (marriage) is 80% guaranteed to fail. That's my long term Expat Analysis of living in NE Thailand. It should be fairly obvious given the following and infinite number testimonials on this channel. Dan will never run out of material unfortunately. BTW, I have never married, but I do have an arrangement more akin to an ex gf. Marriage honestly isn't worth the risk or the aggravation. 🙏

Just search guest friendly hotels, you will find the website
5 star and 1 star hotels are NOT usually guest friendly but most 3/4 star hotels are. Just ask if they charge a “guest fee” before you book or check in.
A friends son married a Thai girl, (who had just started working in the bar apparently🤣)

She was also collecting all gov payments for kids.
She now uses the kids as pawns, husband is petrified he will come home one day and she has fled with kids back to Thailand.
She has also alienated him from family, sulking and carrying on if he speaks to them.

I got done too 4500 but l spent 10 days with her, she ended up getting a locksmith to my backpack, l didn't know coz she was paying for everything but the after a few days l looked in my bag and she had put fake notes like white paper inplace of the American dollars. I didn't say anything to her ,so after when she was oiling her legs l thought l'll get her finger prints on a teabag sachel and take the fake notes and sachel to the cops and low and behold they matched her finger print. They locked her up until she organised all that cash that she stole back, it was the best bust that l've done not even on my soil.

The man says he had visited Thailand before and this time he had a certain plan in his mind. I will only say one thing - if Your main reason to come to Thailand is to meet the ladies WHY on earth would You book a room in a hotel that is not "guest-friendly". The first question before booking a room should be - Am I allowed to bring quests (ladies) to my room? It's not an issue in the majority of hotels and guesthouses in all Thai Tourist Areas including many Hotels in Bangkok along the Sukhumvit.
I remember many years ago at some place in Pattaya I could bring one lady at a time free of (extra) charge to my room and was informed that if I wanted to bring 2 ladies simultaneously I would have to pay something extra, I don't recall how much, and the funny thing about this particular place (I wonder if it still exists), they didn't allow two farangs to share the room, which was never my intention anyway.

Great video and stories Dan. Just returned from Thailand about a week ago and yeah was watching the sponsor scam play out in real time daily while I was there, said nothing just observed. And yeah always the same type of character that would be no hit with the ladies in his home country and has a Simp mentality. So from what I’ve seen even with these videos and information it doesn’t seem to be making a dent in that reality. The Simp won’t stop Simping the loser won’t stop losing and so on and so forth IMO.

In the 2nd story it does happen in the UK at bars and nightclubs with drinks being spiked. The UK Government are clamping down on spiking. Spiking is putting drug in drinks.
It's generally just people who don't understand their tolerance level. Even for those so sure and it being so serious that they go to the hospital it's under 10 percent of time that there was anything other than alcohol in their system.

I've done some research and it seems most hotels just leave the default "master password" unchanged which is usually something like 99999 or 00000. Seems like it would be safer to get one of those portable lock boxes with a steel cable and fasten it around the pipe under the sink.
