    After having owned the Drumbrute for a few weeks now (and working with it quite extensively, so far), I have to say that I think it's a pretty great deal for the relatively small financial investment. Sequencer is strong, Steiner-Parker filter is a fun addition (as is the 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, 1/32 touch strip), and the sounds, overall, are solid. Kick 1 isn't going to be everyone's cup of tea and Kick 2 (while really nice) isn't all too strong on its own. Then again (and I've read and agreed with a lot of these comments), most drum machines are going to be EQ'd and compressed in post anyway, so that's not the end of the world. The snare is pretty solid imo, and while the HHs aren't the typical 808/909 people have come to love over the decades, it stands on its own. Whether it stands on its own as a P.O.S. or as something new and exciting... well, that's not for me to decide. :) All in all, I'm very happy with the machine. It's easy to use, and the split outputs make recording and sampling a real joy. I was torn between this one and the Roland Aira Tr8, but ended up going with the DB because I have yet to hear a sampled kit that sounds like this, whereas there are tons of 808 and 909 sample kits (that sound good, too). Anyway... great bang for your buck, super fun and hands-on!

      I just got mine and to fatten up Kick 2 I put the bx_subsynth (Brainworx) and add a "Tight Punch" at 30 Hz.

    What a coincidence, I just just bought a Korg minilogue and wanted to find a good analogue drum machine to pair with it along with my Volca Sample and SP-404sx. Here he is using the Drumbrute right next to one. I'm still kind of on the fence about deciding whether I should get the Drumbrute, a Volca Beats or the Pittsburgh Modular Lifeforms percussion sequencer. anyone here familiar with that one? I don't see too many videos on here for it but would like to hear more of how it could be used to create your own unique percussions sounds.

    • @christopher_ecclestone
      @christopher_ecclestone 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      No, it's essentially an analogue drum synth. It doesn't sample or play samples, but you can sculpt the sounds in many ways. For me the simplicity of it is part of it's appeal, too much depth can be stifling for me. This is what it is, which means, like a traditional instrument, you can learn it and potentially master it because it doesnt change.

This machine is not targeted to bands that play traditional sets it for electronic musicians. If you really believe electronic musicians such as aphex twin or daft punk can't be musicians because they pull electronics and acoustics well you're just stuck in a rock vacuum.
