      @@GamingAuthorityVideo im about to sell my tr8s and get this. If you want to move from daw to analog and have no daw or pc involvement arturia is a more logic choice. The tr8s has a built in audio interface, performs smoothly, but if you use a lot of own sounds on it, it gets very tedious. Tr8s is mainly sample based whereas this is analog and more authentically its own sound. I want to have less option and more designing. Tr8s is very limited in actual synthesis of drums

      @@thy.rant.bruteforce So did you do it? if so whats your outcomes? I'm between drum brute impact and TR8s I'm leaning hard toward TR8s but I hate Rolands menu diving and the roll on the impact instant access is cool! Problem is I don't have any showrooms for these products in my city so all I can do is pull trigger and order it online that's why I'm torn.

    One of the major things overlooked about the DB Impact is the tonality changes depending depending on how hard you drive it's internal pre-amp. If you run your master volume at 2 o'clock and push your kick to maximum volume, you will get a different tone than if you run the kick quieter with the master volume up louder. It's a killer drum machine and I will never get rid of mine.

    It’s probably one of the easiest drum machines to learn/use ever as far as programmable units go. I much prefer the 808 style of beat building over the groovebox style. This thing rules and once you figure out all the accenting and roll functions, it’s a game changer.

  • @brunocpimenta
    @brunocpimenta 2 ปีที่แล้ว +17

    I really, really, REALLY must FINALY say that it hurts SO much when you all say those eletronic units from Behringer, Arturia or any brand in general are cheap. Here in Brazil those bitches are *nasty* expensive. A Drumbrute is about 3000 of our money now and things just go downhill from that point. You all should thank god for the prices there.

    • @DankLiveAF
      @DankLiveAF  2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      You are so right. In Brazil, in addition to tariff or shipping issues, the biggest challenge is certification of electronic products for the local market. Certification in Brazil is intensely expensive. The cert body INMETRO requires in-country testing, not just reporting, so to certify a product you need a local agent, lab time, then there's a specific mark you need to certify for in addition to the INMETRO and then you need to have extensive marking on packaging and in quickstart guides- which you don't need in other countries. This means manufacturing requires a unique run. All this adds to to mean that imported products that don't have super high numbers have extremely high prices. In general these protectionist trade policies helped Brazil fire up it's local economy two decades ago, but the last decade it has hurt Brazillian locals and made it nearly impossible for Brazil to strike global trade agreements that could supercharge the economy. Let me know if you want that sample pack I made for free. It's not much, but at least you can have the DB Impact Kicks!

    I hate that I had to sell my DB impact. It had a ground hum that was always present but even worse with the USB in. Someday I’d like one that doesn’t have this issue, as apparently it’s a somewhat common problem with the model. I really enjoyed the FM drum. You can make great toms and kicks with it too! Plus that great Arturia sequencer. It was a great counterpart for my RX-5 for layers, etc. I sampled the absolute shit out of it before I said goodbye. Now I’m just using an RD-6 for those analog hats, snare, and kick. Doesn’t have that insane kick, though that’s for sure. Damn thing moves some air.

    • @DankLiveAF
      @DankLiveAF  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      RD-6 is on my hit list. Do you have a sampler?

    • @huntergalloway3944
      @huntergalloway3944 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I highly recommend it for good analog on the cheap. As far as samplers, I have a MPC Live 1 as my studios brain and a Korg DSS-1 as my vintage, crunchy sampler. I’d recommend with of those depending on your needs. Now I’m looking at that new SP 404 MKII! Looks really sick as long as it retains the same character as the SP legacy.

    Love the hats on the impact but for me the snare is weak. I run mine with a TR-06 for snare & BD. The bass drum on the impact has no click on it. I don’t like that much. Impact is great overall though. The sequencer is superb.

  • @JH-lo9ut
    @JH-lo9ut ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Had it. Sold it. Regret it
    (a little)
    I really liked the sequencer, not only is it intuitive and easy to use, but it has just the right amount of versatility and possibilities to create more complex patterns, but without getting lost.
    The interface is direct. Everything is right there, or at least accessible via a shift function.
    Sound-wise, it's distinctly analog. I think it has it's own sound. It doesn't fit all genres, but it doesn't pretend to be a universal drum machine.
    I think the toms are a bit weak, and I wish they had a different cowbell.
    Separate outs for every sound would have been cool, but you get four outs plus main out and that is not bad at this pricepoint.
    The sounds get old though. An 808 or 909 have classic sounds that still sound great to this day. The Drumbrute impact sounds lack that something, that will make you love them forever. I have lots of respect for Arturia trying to create their own thing instead of trying to copy the classics, but I just don't think they suceeded in making great analog drum sounds.
    It is absolutely possible to create an uniquely great sounding, modern, analog drum machine, MFB Tanzbär is the best example i can think of.
    DBi works as a midi controller, paired with som drum module or whatever sample player or DAW(I ran an old Boss dr-550 to add som old school drum samples), but since all control knobs are completely analog, they don't send any midi data.
    This is fair, since it's an analog drum machine, but it will drive you insane. You instictively try to adjust the sound, but nothing happens and you go: "of course, the knobs don't do anything", but then you try to do it again anyway, so you facepalm and then you do it again. Maybe this is just me, but I just couldn't get in to using it this way.
    It feels really sturdy and solid. I would not hesitate to throw it in a backpack.
    The guy who bought my Drumbrute impact got a real bargain and if one shows up at that same price, I might buy it again.

      It’s got a unique enough character that even if you are an advanced practitioner you would still likely think it’s awesome. It’s low price tag and ease of use make it a winner for starters too. I would not call it an allrounder though, because the only box it checks is “analog drum synth”. It doesn’t have other modes, no digital, limited fm, no samples etc. the Tr8s is a better allrounder.

      It's not defective! The Drumbrute line has a mono jack for it's mix output, so simply use a mono cable and 1 mono input on your mixer instead of a stereo line. If you want a stereo field, the only way to set that up is to use the individual outs and another mixer.
