I was born in 1990 so I didn't get into Waylon until after he passed. I'm jealous of anyone (including my dad) who had the privilege of seeing him live.
Waylon was one of a kind, i grew up in the 70s listening to Waylon, he was my favorite then and here in 2022 almost 23 he's still my favorite, the best ever, Waylon had it all, and by that I mean, he had everything needed that made him an absolute perfect country artist, his voice, his attitude, his looks this man was born to do just exactly what he did, and I hate to say it but we'll never see another Waylon, I'm thankful that I got to see him way back in 1982 when he came to Hazard Kentucky, sold out and the best concert I have ever attended, the concert he did there was part of their annual Black Gold festival which is held every year in September and in typical Waylon fashion he told them that the only way he would come there was if they paid him cash money and that's exactly what they did, all 54.000 of it was paid to Waylon in cash no check no going to a bank account, they handed him a bank bag that contained 54.000 dollar's, I kept my ticket stub for years but somewhere along the way moving from place to place I lost it and that bothered me for a long time, it was like I lost 10.000 dollars or something, Waylon left us way to early in 2002 but like millions of his fans I'm thankful that we still have his videos and the best written songs ever written and performed by a country artist. Next time I'll tell the story about the stuffed bear that Waylon acquired that he called the Cocaine bear, lol, and as he would say, It's a true story Hoss🎸

I've read his book and others about him and I admire how he had the balls to bet on himself and do it his way... He also From all accounts I've read and heard was a very loyal person and a true friend to those he called friends...all of our legends are dying off and the younger guys and gals that are truly talented can't get a fair shake in this music market around here anymore. I live 15 miles from Nashville and I can't find good country music on my radio... To hear the real deal you pretty much have to go see live concerts because if you're not willing to sell out and let the establishment control your music,appearance and everything else they're gonna pass you up for a pretty faced sell out that can't even play an instrument or right a song and auto tune them...then try to force feed it to us...I know there's some real good artist out there but it's tremendously hard for them to get publicity or commercial success....We need someone into come and put the control back in the artist hands like Waylon did.. But they'll never be another Waylon...I will keep listening to the legends and trying to find as many new artist that do music with meaning and soul it's tough finding them though...

In Palo cedro ca. Actually I lived about a mile up the road from one Mr Merle Hagard. Went to high school with his son. Anyway I would often see that beautiful ( Super Chief ) modeled after the 1940,s Amtrak luxtruy travel concept. He knew all 50 of us were wild ones . He always gave a long blast on the horn when he few passed us all of us in alone doing work detail. One day I found myself in real big trouble. I mean big life changing trouble. Iwas on permanent 24 hr work detail. It was Christmas it was cool wet and miserable, I was ordered to hang tree lights on the property. Pop ordered a bunch of us to unload a semi truck that just pulled in. There they were. Ten army crate,s 5x5 x5, filled to the brink with Christmas life's all perfect 100 ft rolls. Pop looked at me and only me .he smiled and said (Get buisey and you better stay buisey. Well I thought I would be hanging lights till next .Christmas. A few days later ,I'm tired cooled and wet to the bone. I'm really starting to think I should make a run for it. I'm up in a tree when like a trumpet it was the Chief flying faster than ever with a horn stuck on on. Almost out of controll because he was leading a train right behind him was another gorgeous bus with a giant eagle in the shape of an eagle . Behind him Mr Willie and be hind him I believed that was the cash man,then a few others all laying on their horns and yelling out the windows, going crazey headed for what I now know as what had to be one hell of a party. I definitely herd a (whoop whoop) ( you go you beautiful outlaws. Merry Christmas and happy f------g newyear. I started laughing as they raced by. Waylon is the best. I love him and Jessi too. What a couple that look so in love! I love their passion.They remind me of my relationship with my boyfriend who love each other deeply. I love listening to every word of their love songs. It energizes me to continue to love just as hard as I do now. I always wish Waylon was here to keep writing more beautiful love ❤️ songs.
My wife was named Jessi cause apparently her mother looked just like JC when she was young. So of course i had to name our jet black lab Waylon. Also had a cat we named Willie. Just me n Waylon still kickin dirt these days...
