How can anyone give this a thumbs down? This is Awesome the legendary talent of Waylon Jennings and his band in their pomp. Country music today needs to get back listening to Waylon they need some inspiration ✌️
I can never put my finger on it, something so unique about his voice. It's great for one thing, but is it the phrasing, the honesty, I don't know but when he sings his voice just has this gravitas that makes everything sound soulful. Oh who cares, the guy's just awesome, the fact that he was a good guy just makes it all the sweeter.
+Tommy Petersen I agree and I heard it explained like this, that what separates his voice from others is that when his sings, it makes you believe in the lyrics. It doesn't require sweetening.
+Rex Oates I really like how you used the word "sweetening". You must have read Waylon's book as he mentions how execs would take his or Willie's albums and " sweeten" them in production. The result would be an album that would be virtually unrecognizable to both Willie or Waylon. It has been said before, but any artist who has creative control over their music owes a HUGE debt to Waylon. He sacrificed so much to truly make Nashville ask " are you sure Hank done it this way?" The system sadly never really forgave him. As soon as his sales went from astronomical to merely really good they cut him loose. Their paying for it now as Nashville again has become bland, overly commercial, and the furthest thing from genuine.....and Waylon's legacy and legend just continues to grow.
+Tommy Petersen I don't really remember that in his book, but it was in another book about country music that I was looking at in the local library I think. The author was comparing people like Waylon to many of today's artists that have no real singing voice. Everything is just sweetened to make them sound better. You're right about people owing a debt to Waylon. He broke down so many doors for others to walk through.
WAYLON. WILLIE. CASH. THE WERE OUTLAWS. TODAYS SO CALLED COUNTRY ARE OUT CAST AND OUT OF TALENT. I WON'T DARE LISTEN TO THIS SHIT TODAY. NOT UNTIL NASHVILLE GET THEIR HEADS OUT OF THEIR ASSES.
I'm 75, and listened to country music since 1948. Roy Acuff and The Smokey Mtn Boys to the 80/ 90s country.Waylon is still #1. None of this wanna be with him, just pure from the heart country.
Seeing this reminds me of the time I spent at my favorite beer joint with all of my friends. Sadly some of them have gone to the great beer joint in the sky. Cheers gentlemen RIP
No one sings like waylon and I admire he’s one of the only country singers I’ve seen with an electric guitar and a damn good band. I mean his singing is just insane, and the combos of the drums hi hats and the steel guitar and his little solos it’s just a different sound. The best one
I got to meet Waylon when I was 5 years old. Ritchie was from my hometown of Bagdad AZ. I remember playing cards with him on his bus and playing with Tonka trucks behind Roy B's bar with Shooter when they would come to town.
I have been a fan of Waylon's forever. His voice is pure magic and man could he play guitar. There are a lot of fans here in New Zealand. One of my cousins was named after him.
Don't know how many times, as a kid, I watched Hee-Haw, and so many bands had a pedal steel master like this gentleman. It always impressed me, even as a small kid. Waylon's voice and his band are awesome, too. Just like early 80's country.
This music at this specific time at the Texas Opry was The Best of Waylon I ever saw.. These songs he did that day are hands down my favorite of all time, including every music band in history. I can watch these over and over and every time it hits my soul

Ww
A true legend, I met him back around 2002 when he traveled in town for a book signing, him and Jesse are and were great people
Hey April how are you doing today???
That’s sweet. His book is very entertaining.
I'm 75, and listened to country music since 1948. Roy Acuff and The Smokey Mtn Boys to the 80/ 90s country.Waylon is still #1. None of this wanna be with him, just pure from the heart country.
what a great singer !
Seeing this reminds me of the time I spent at my favorite beer joint with all of my friends. Sadly some of them have gone to the great beer joint in the sky. Cheers gentlemen RIP
Blue tooth speaker blasting @ work listening to waylon Jennings all day... it's good day!!!!!
Waylon Jennings one of the best guitar players in country music ever
Waylon is a Legend!🤠🇺🇸🎸🎤🎵😘❤️💋💃🏼
I discovered what real country music is when I heard Waylon Jennings. I take back everything I said about country. Outlaw
Even as a "classical" musician, I can't understand how 7 people can dislike this!!!!!
No worries...youtube censors have shut down the dislike button.
They are the new snap beat country fans
No one sings like waylon and I admire he’s one of the only country singers I’ve seen with an electric guitar and a damn good band. I mean his singing is just insane, and the combos of the drums hi hats and the steel guitar and his little solos it’s just a different sound. The best one
I agree 100 percent gone but never for gotten
I've just now discovered waylons music and this is my favorite!
LOVEEEEEEEE WAYLON AND I DIDN'T EVEN discover him until it was too late to go see him- such a shame.
I got to meet Waylon when I was 5 years old. Ritchie was from my hometown of Bagdad AZ. I remember playing cards with him on his bus and playing with Tonka trucks behind Roy B's bar with Shooter when they would come to town.
Man I wish I was alive in the 70's to see Waylon in his prime it would of been awesome because they guy just screams cool
I was it was a blast
I have been a fan of Waylon's forever. His voice is pure magic and man could he play guitar. There are a lot of fans here in New Zealand. One of my cousins was named after him.
The best of Waylon live ever!!! Man what a king he was!!!!!! and still is!!!!
G*d damn that pedal steel gives me the goose bumps still!
There was only one..and it was him..thank you.
I remember this time with Waylon he's a true outlaw of country music
Doesn't get any better than this!!!
Hey Jennie how are you doing today???
Don't know how many times, as a kid, I watched Hee-Haw, and so many bands had a pedal steel master like this gentleman. It always impressed me, even as a small kid. Waylon's voice and his band are awesome, too. Just like early 80's country.
Waylon Was the real Deal, I've been a fan since I first heard him in the 60's.
Absolutely one of the best country’s ever known
I met and worked with Waylon many times. Couldn't have been a nicer guy one of the coolest people in the business.
My favorite Waylon song...…….he is so high, and still pulls it off.
Was he ever high or just never came down lol
I herd this song for the first time on my grand mama's 8 track player on the way to church, I knew then I was not alone.
I was going to go to work, but I stumbled upon this. I smoked a joint and went fishing..
😂
Now that's a good day!! ❤
I have truly lived in it within a moment in time. Tulsa Oklahoma USA
My grandma's favorite, , miss her so much! Lost a son in Nam, her husband husband flew p-38s in ww2. True American.
This music at this specific time at the Texas Opry was The Best of Waylon I ever saw.. These songs he did that day are hands down my favorite of all time, including every music band in history. I can watch these over and over and every time it hits my soul
Yes indeed…. The peak of his career, right there in the mid-1970s.
