- For a brief time, John and Harley set aside their differences and reunited.
This video is the first three songs from their first reunion show.
May 29th, 2001
I filmed this using the club's cameras and the sound is direct, unmixed, from the soundboard.
The songs are World Peace, Show You No Mercy, and Malfunction
Both current Cro-Mags are good, but put the two Tazmanian Devils on one stage and you have the explosion on the cover of Age of Quarrel made real, this is simply f u c k i n g a m a z i n g. Hope those two dudes sort out their issues one day and be amazing like this again.
Harley and jon?
Awesome.
That ship sailed a long time ago unfortunately.
It’s just can’t be done.

Not really! There were never ever a Rolling Stones without one of them! They always sticked together. Not like these two Egolomaniacs!
Is it me or those drums sound dank AF? That snare...
Makes you want launch off stage!
That snare fucking cranks!
I was thinking the same thing...
)nyhc with involved more are whoThat's true, also I feel like people ( give enough credit to drummers like Felix Griffin (DRI), Chuck Biscuits(DOA, Black flag, and Danzig), bill stevenson( and Reed Mullin(COC)
@@ianmcsorley2580 who's drumming in this vid?
Wow! Cro-Mags the band of the people! White, blacks, yellow , everibody there and partying! Cheers from brazil!

DOUG HOLLAND WAS THE COOLEST DUDE. I MET DOUG IN CHELSEA BACK AROUND 2015, AND WE SPOKE FOR ABOUT 2 HOURS, GREAT GUY, DOWN TO EARTH. 🤘🤘

When that transition hits between world peace and show you no mercy, that's where you feel the fucking hype.
This is why hardcore should only be played in clubs, you don't get pits like this at festivals.
Saw these guys at Groezrock last year, Pit was pretty much the same. No barrier either, stage dived and everything!
Nothing wrong with a good festival man!
Same in Britain. The O2 venues are over controlled. The bouncers don't do a lot of good. We can look after ourselves, thanks.
I agree with that. Small pit scenarios are hardest. The thing that changed though was that people were really mean in the 80's pits. The sense of musical community on the floor hadn't developed. Festival pits are a totally new thing with their own dynamics like weather. I've been in some weird pits with bands like Crash Worship but I think huge concert experience is not so good. Smaller groups enjoying something local yet twisted is better.
Yah people punched and kicked each other on purpose to do damage. You don’t see that as much
Charles Williams: crash worship was amazing. Saw them 3 times in San Diego in mid 90s. They were a completely unique experience.
I wish hardcore was still this good man! I’d kill too be at a show like this!
Do they do weddings?
..fuckin lol....
Epic!
Often times without even being asked
😂
😂😂😂😂
Haha, obviously recorded before JJ became an Ironman
Rocky George from Suicidal ! Nice extra
You have no idea how much I appreciate your comment. Thank you!
EAST COAST HARDCORE CRO MAGS ARE #1 // WEST COAST HARDCORE SUICIDAL TENDENCIES #1💥💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
I'm very glad the person landing with their butt on my head at 6:55 is preserved on the internet. This was such a great show.
I saw these dudes in San Antonio, TX. back in 88 or 87 & they killed it!!!
Saw the Cro-Mags in Reseda back in the day. Huge fights between Sharps and Nazis. For once Suicidals were outnumbered... I got kicked hard in the teeth. That's how shows used to be.
Country club ?
Reseda!!
I remember them days, Reseda Country Club! Whaaat!

Flanagan actually is an underrated songwriter. It's a pity John and him got into differences.
Parris wrote the best stuff
I just saw the cromags recently and they still play the songs with same intensity like it was 1986. There was crazy stage divers (myself included) and good ol hardcore dancing and people just having a good time nobody starting shot with anyone. Even without Harley they still bring it harder than most bands younger than them.
I was lucky enough to see the Cro-Mags 3 times in Detroit in the 80's.
The first show at the Graystone on Michigan Ave was UNBELIEVABLE.
saw them in Paris in 1985...kickass show!
best hardcore band of all time!
the best by a fucking long shot, i can't say anyone even comes close
No Bad Brains...No Cromags...

BrendanSFA, thx for posting, this kicks ass! Would love to see the rest!
5:38 malfunction is one of my favorite songs ever!
People sitting ON STAGE...good ol times. These days you gotta stand 9 ft away from the stage and its called the front row.
I miss my hardcore days the best shows I ever been at
Did cbgb really sound THIS good? I mean Jesus. That snare sounds like a gun shot cutting through everything else. So tough.
Yes. this is an unmixed recording with the levels for the house PA... the bands cabinets on stage added to make a fuller sound in person.
I am not just saying this because I worked at CBGB for years... I also played in a band and toured in cities around the world and never had a better sounding room of that size than the way CBGB sounded
CBGB was renowned for its fantastic sound... not just in the room, but on stage for the band
Record labels often showcased new bands there for the press... not just because of the history of the venue, but because of the great live sound
That's Gary Sullivan. Used to drum for Parliament....
@@BrendanSFA good to see you again Man. Hope all is well.
@@jamescaliendo1030 thanks. likewise. Glad to see you're still kicking. When you dropped off fb, I was worried, but then I figured you just blocked me
@@BrendanSFA no!!! I'd never block you man. Were on different sides of the spectrum politically but I'd never do that. I got off that thing cause it made me sick to see the bullshit fakeness and the political divide. Be safe man and happy new year
Rocky George. Double like!
03:44 *smacks dude with bass
04:17 “Yo lisa get me my other bass”
I would know that guitar tone anywhere! Rocky George kicks ass! Too bad he's no longer with Suicidal Tendencies. They suck without him! Cro-Mags rule!!!!!
Lost my shoe at a show when I was 15. Got my toes broke and it sucked. My older skin friends laughed and pointed to their steel toed boots. Been wearing them ever since. And I'm 53 now.
Garry "G-Man" Sullivan on drums! The only guy who can fill Mackie's shoes

BIG ups to that!!! G-Man..., WHEW!!!!!!
Best drummer they ever had
Pete Hines as well don't sleep on best wishes
MACKIE RULES IN STREET ART🤘🤘
Great stuff. I was sitting right next to Doug's amp during his first show with the Cro Mags at CB's. The first song was...We Gotta Know. Incredible.
Doug is Mad cool👍👍🤘🤘
Hey Brendan, I'm pretty sure I worked stage that night. I remember being on the side of the stage by the snake holding mic cables, keeping them from getting pulled out....lol
Cheers
Petey
Harley Flanagan!!!
3:40 AHAH
i have never seen them live but they put on the most energy shows ever CRO MAGGS YES YES YES
I recorded the full sets of both nights.

Best concert ever! Cro mags 1987 markthalle hamburg.never before and again saw that energy.
Ill be filming them at The Snowmobile Club in Holden, Maine this friday. 09/13/24 I'll definitely be uploading their full set to my TH-cam channel.

Rocky fucking George.
slantyrock Cool thing is in Show you no mercy, he gets to play War inside my head ;)
Show you no mercy does have riffs similar to War Inside my Head anyway
Not sure what I said to you , but Rocky obviously did some shows with them , but their is a long list of stand ins, due to John and Harley fighting and both claiming the band , hell I saw them in 94 or 95 , just John and Mackie , the guitar player and bass player I dont know , I did not know they played again till I seen this
Ahhh the good old days when the bands and music were right in your face not behind a barrier.
Man, wish I was there. These are my favorite kinds of shows.
Incredible show. Almost speechless!
MVD (the company that out the DVD) doesn't care about quality. When I saw that a DVD of this show was released I thought they got a hold of a copy of the version I filmed. It looks like they just used a single cam with crappy microphone audio.
They could have used my multicam stereo audio version if they wanted because I gave a copy to John Joseph.
...but I guess they didn't ask him either.
hahaha I saw Cro Mags , and hung out and talked to John Joseph , can you say that , John is awesome
Important to remember Bad Brains were a PART of hardcore, they didnt invent it. Dont forget about Dead Kennedys, Black Flag, DOA, Misfits, Minor Threat etc etc etc. These bands were all considered 'hardcore' compared to Clash/Pistols/Ramones punk. Agnostic Front was well before CroMags in this heavier wave of hardcore, and the Cro-Mags took it to yet another level of mayhem. All great bands...
Brad Ley I hope you’re joking.
Doug easily the coolest guy on that stage✊🏻👍🏻
The bass tone after hitting someone with it is just incredible lol
On some real shit wish these 2 guys would set aside the bullshit, seeing this show you get why the CRO-MAGS were a powerhouse.
RIP cbgbs
the power is so raw. so many people that understand the truth
One of the best NYC bands. VERY influential. Classic. Too bad nothing lasts.
And who was Malfunction dedicated to?
NYHC- unmatched!!
good times, Real Hardcore !!
Is that DOUG HOLLAND IN THE DARK TANK TOP?
Powerful!!
thanks for posting this gem!
FUCK YEAH!!! The only problem is the volume doesn't go up loud enough.

fucking sick!miss those days!
Tight as shit despite the chaos. Just remember...September 11th. was coming up this year. "World Peace" in fuckin deed!!!!
respect from Italy...hc
John looks like he's going to have a heart attack.
Harley could run circles on everyone at this show.
Really needed this!!!!!!!!!!
Great energy🔥🔥🔥
While Hardcore did not die exactly at the end of 1986, it certainly changed. It is not the same as the first era, and the current "scene" is really just a pale imitation of the original. In fact there are a whole host of new bands that are desperately trying to mimic the Hardcore Punk pioneers, but always fall short. I have tons of records from the 90s to today that I am looking to dump somewhere. In a way it is kind of funny that most of the LPs and EPs I buy are all from the late 70s to 80s.
Glad to say I was here!
Jason Us woww
3:26 War inside my Head riff! Go Suicidal Rocky George! I don't know who came up with that riff first Rocky or Parris
Is this a joke? I searched and heard two songs from each of those bands mentioned and am left wondering if you are just trolling. The screamo deathcore (or whatever the hell it is called) band is in a word - shitty. You're really going to recommend that in a Cro-Mags video? The two emotional hipster bands sound really similar to the early 90s emo hardcore that was around then. The other radio-friendly one isn't anything I would go out and buy. I'm not even going to say anything about the lyrics.
The irony of your post is that the songs in this video you are referring to are from a 1986 album. The songs were written around 1984 (or probably even earlier).
Raw energy
Saw CM 2x before I went into military in 86 Lamours BKLYN NY
so much better live!
gooooood old hardcore!!!!
But Parris was missing so....
How is this the only comment mentioning this!? I guess years of being buried under the weight of Harley and Johns beefs/bad press but it’s insane either way.
Yeah, I had an older brother that first introduced the music to us before we were teenagers. We were too young to understand most of what it was other than knowing it was a rebellious &underground type of music. At that age there isn't any money to check out the bands, even had we known they were putting all-ages shows.
I kept with the music throughout all these years-seeing new trends on the national and international scale and seeing tons of local bands come and go.Too bad it all sucks now.

Woa.. Rocky George (ex S.T.) on guitars????
Yes. He was and is.
that geezer got whacked with the bass hahahaha
If you watch closely that guy stomped on someone else who was just crowd surfing hahaha he earned that shit
Rocky George!!!
Wish to be there ...
Fantastic sound and video. Who’s the guitarist? One is RJ Herrera, I think.
correct... the other is Doug Holland who was the guitarist for Kraut and second guitar for Cro-Mags in 86 on the first album
@@BrendanSFA Thanks. I didn’t recognize Doug’s figure, honestly, even I know about all line-up changes, I wondered of a guest. I believe Doug, RJ, PM were proper guitarists....with their own personality and style. This combo is massive btw.

Who’s on guitars? Doug and seems Parris wasn’t there…if anyone knows I’ll be happy to ❤
