I was a Corpsman stationed with a Marine rifle company in Afghanistan and Iraq, I would always listen to "Age of Quarrel" before going on a patrol. Great album for getting your aggro up.
I'm 37 and remember my hardcore/punk friend raving all about the Cro Mags back in the '80s. I also remember them coming down on tour in '88 and seeing some kids in school wearing the concert shirts. I was a metalhead and VERY closed-minded, so I never gave stuff like this a chance back then. I'll always love metal, but I'm glad as hell I opened my mind up to bands like the CM.
I was 14 years old when I heard Cro-Mags for the first time and I knew I'm gonna love this music for all my LIFE ! I'm 45 now and this music still like it's new to me. So Powerfull !!! Thanks Cro-Mags for your music ! I hope that one day you can make peace and play again tohether !!!
Absolutely nothing pumped me up more as a kid than blasting this in the car on the way to, well, on the way to wherever!!! My eleven year old just watched this, and he is being classically trained on piano, but can't help but feel the passion, and raw power of THE CROMAGS!
Brilliant!! I remember the show in Scum Katwijk Holland.Only 20 people showed up and we couldn't believe it cus we were crazy about CroMags.Had a great time tho cus they played a full show for us and we were on stage half the time and stagediving into nothing!!
the best People ever, will always keep You in Memory! John: " Yea Maharaj ist strange sometimes… You will see" ;) You were right still he is a great friend as well as You are. My redhaired godly brother You still have Your Deity? It was so pretty. And this Song - We gotta know is simply the best Song ever! Thanx Cro Mags You are Legends!
it's been near twenty year since i've heard that awesome song on an indie radio... i never really recovered from that schock!!! what a great tune, what a so talented singer, what a so huge (and wasted) band... such is life!!!
Seen em when I was a kid and this band lives on!!! I am 44 and seen all the olriginals!!!!!!!!!!!! Bad brain, voi-vod, af, mnor threat, but this album rulz!!!
Loved Bloodclot's flip into the crowd!! Classic NYHC, period. Closest I came to this was when Soulfly played the intro riff in the middle of a song-I damn near went apeshit
Extreme music has to grow on everyone. When I first heard Dillinger escape plan (for instance) I thought it was total chaos shit. Now I catch their shows whenever I can.
Not only one of the greatest opening songs of any album ever, the footage is some of the greatest You Tube video I've ever seen, especially that mess at 1:28 & following. Was so fortunate to have seen Cro Mags on tour with Anthrax (I think?) around 1984-85.
i'm 19 and i wish i was young back then, because honestly music these days it's not the same... The energy, the spirit, it's all gone. I hate this age.
So true, brother. This just CRUSHES any of the new school "hard core". Whenever I wear my Cro Mags Age of Quarrel t-shirt, my chest just naturally puffs up a little, and that shirt always causes a sensation wherever I go among other old school punks who know what's up...
First time saw this shit somewhere around 1989, as a then fucking SOVIET schoolboy - totally blew my fucking commie mind off! HARVEY FLANAGAN'S NAME WAS IMMORTALIZED IN SPLIT SECONDS AFTER PLAYING THIS BADASS FUCKING INTRO!
This album blew me away in 86. saw them 87 in markthalle hamburg with my friend killer. It was a mindblowin show. We never saw such energy on stage till then. And everytime i listen to it i must say its a bilbe! My favorite albums are peter a tttb. Mating sounfs of american frogs, skrewdriver hail the new dawn, age of quarrel and everything from killing joke and thin lizzy. Greez from hamburg. Oi
Saw them in 87 at Christmas on Earth festival in Leeds England. Megadeth headlined, but the buzz was all about the Cro mags that day. And rightly so too, they were amazing and this 17 year old had never seen anything like it at the time.
Doug , i met you about 5 YEARS ago in the Gramercy Area.We talked about Religion and Karma// and then you told me what a thrill touring with Lemmy was.You were a cool guy.I am still Star struck that i got to share philosophies and beliefs.May you live Long and prosper.
First saw them back in 89 at the Christmas day on earth thrash festival in Leeds UK. Nuclear assault, Kreator, Megadeth, Virus, Overkill, Laaz Rocket, where also on the bill. Cro mags were fantastic, and the result of which saw myself buying the The Age of Quarrel the very next day on US import (Vinyl of course!) Costing over ten quid!!!! Worth every penny!!!
YEEEEEES! Cro-Mags' "Age of Quarrel" playes on the soundtrack of my youth as a skatepunk from the south Chicago 'burbs. I saw them circa 1988 or 1989??? at the famous Cubby Bear... I won't mention the acid here....
When this album was played (I had the tape cassette back in the day), it was played from start to finish as loud as the speakers could handle. Best listened to with good friends and cold beers! NYHC and especially the 'Mags had a big influence on the direction of music from the classic metal heavy era (pre 1980s) into thrash metal era (late 1980s and early 1990s)! The Mags even toured with Megadeth and Motorhead! How cool would that show have been?! 🔥🎸🎼🤘
@AdRock1035 Let's not forget about Murphy's Law, Nuclear Assault, Biohazard, BOLD, Prong, and Sick Of It All! I had all those on reel-to-reel casette tapes, too man hehe wow it sucks getting old but feels so heartwarming to recall all the good memories. Remember Infectious Grooves?
Yeah, einer der Besten Old school NY Hardcore Bands. Goil. Black Flag, Bad brains, Minor Threat, Agnostic Front,Circle Jerks sind so Ziemlich die Besten NY Hardcorebands aus den Anfängen des Hardcore. Ich kann nur sagen: Our way, your life, my scene, the definition?! HARDCORE!!!
If you look at 1:01 in , That guy to the right looks like Steve Harris from Iron Maiden. God, Kudos to whoever uploaded this. I have this video on a crappy VHS tape with videos from the OLD headbangers ball
They should change the new band name to."No -Mags" Harley and Parris wrote the music! And they're not even in the band. Lots of drama, but all I.can say is John Joseph is a douche bag!
I love this video and this song, and all the age of Quarrel album, ...like one of my clasic underground music albums, but "im not a hardcore fan", i mean, i like just this album and this band in 1986; this band was very original, so much energy in the songs and a great precence on stage, but i think that afther this great classic album they were never be the same.
We called this record the holy grail of 80's hardcore. Instant classic.
I was a Corpsman stationed with a Marine rifle company in Afghanistan and Iraq, I would always listen to "Age of Quarrel" before going on a patrol. Great album for getting your aggro up.
Thank you for your service Marine!
Booooooootlickerrrrr
I hope they kick your ass in Afghanistan and Iraq, fucking yankee.
ewww
@Shane Emerson a corpsman is a sailor (navy) that is a medic for marines.

Damn! 11 years ago! Are you still around?
This is a band lad
@@Enbix he might not be with us
@@franciscofeest6691 Yeah, kinda sad to think about it, but hopefully he just forgot about this account and is about to turn 50.
I'm 49 first time I saw em live I was 16 at first Avenue in Minneapolis
Some of the long hair dudes are from Nuclear Assault at the start.
One of the greatest opening tracks of any album ever.
I agree
Davie Henry i agree second
Second only to Angel Of Death
Agree, massive
Mike Campbell I don't know....Mr. Roboto from the Styx album Kilroy Was Here is some pretty stiff competition....
Heard it on MTVs 120 minutes and loved it. To me it represents my teenage angst, even though I’m 50 now and still loving it ❤ ODAAT
when punk, metal, and hardcore all get drunk together and gave a great time
I was 14 years old when I heard Cro-Mags for the first time and I knew I'm gonna love this music for all my LIFE ! I'm 45 now and this music still like it's new to me. So Powerfull !!! Thanks Cro-Mags for your music ! I hope that one day you can make peace and play again tohether !!!

20 years later and I still get goosebumps when i see this video. NYHC for life!!!
one of the most amazing songs ever
Im 42 And the Cro-Mags still sound as good as they did back in High School! Old School harcore!
I see them a few days ago in Los Angeles with the exploited. It’s like they never aged they still have that intensity
49 here, and this was one of the greatest videos on Headbangers Ball back in the late 80s. Nice to see it again.
And now you're 54
@@zaqwertyfish yup
Yes - you are 54 now. Time flies.
Brilliant!!
I remember the show in Scum Katwijk Holland.Only 20 people showed up and we couldn't believe it cus we were crazy about CroMags.Had a great time tho cus they played a full show for us and we were on stage half the time and stagediving into nothing!!
Growing up in the culture of the early 2000s was a weird experience. I found hardcore and I knew where I belonged.
Best Video ever...saw it in the early 90's on MTV in the night...it was a blast!!!!!
HANDS DOWN>>>>>>THE BEST 'METAL FACE' EVER @ 0:52

As soon as I saw the Confederate flag, I KNEW there'd be some yahoo in the comments trying to justify it
I think this was the first video on MTV to show people stage diving

I remember seeing this on 120 Minutes back in '87.
+Eric Miller -
Me too! March or April timeframe. I remember that well.....
+Greg Pasquier April. It was Easter Sunday.
Yup. That's awesome.
Still appreciate that beastie, thick, driving downbeat and guitars/bass that was ahead of its time in many respects.
Loved Bloodclot's flip into the crowd!! Classic NYHC, period. Closest I came to this was when Soulfly played the intro riff in the middle of a song-I damn near went apeshit
I love old school hardcore.
unbeatable
If I were to pick one album to listen to for eternity. This one
