Paz Vizlas character development was so good this season, I was so sad to see him die.
I was legit sad!
I was for sure he would back Din in a Din vs Bo schism.

I love the bit where while the monster's about to smash the ship, Paz and Axe carry Grogu to safety.
it's a small moment but it's super wholesome. like they recognize him as a Mandalorian foundling.
Din didn't even need to tell anyone to get him outta there, they Know to protect that kid at All costs
That one thing make me think that he is not a traitor..no hesitation, he immediately grabbed one arm and nodded to Paz.. and he could only save himself.
And not to mention that in the previous episode he could simply force the lovers apart, without peacefull talk and a gentle approach in total.
Yeah it was really cool, Din saved Paz's son the other episode and i'd like to think he felt indebted to him and was watching over grogu ever since.
They need to give that kid a jet pack!

The spy must be Axe, because he left before the trap to get "reinforcements" so he wouldn't kill imperials and they wouldn't blow his cover
Plus he wasnt there in season 2 when they captured Gideons ship.

I'm leaning toward Axe being the spy. The Armourer leaves with the survivors, who they ran into by chance, which is unlikely to have been planned ahead of time. Axe leaves during the attack, which could have easily been planned. plus, he is quick to volunteer to leave, as opposed to fighting, like most mandalorians.
Also where was Axe going? The armorer left with the only ship lol
@@PrivateKibbens He doesn't necessarily need the ship as long as the other ships are within radio range, inside the Atmosphere, which they were.
Guys if axe is the spy who made all the mandalorian armor for Gideon? I’m leaning towards armorer
The surviving Mandos on the planet could be the spies. Gideon's base didn't appear overnight. How could they miss all the construction? Tie interceptors and Bombers arriving and departing.
They led Bo, Paz and Din right to it.

I think the cloning vats aren’t attempts at cloning Palpatine/Snoke, but rather an attempt for Gideon to clone himself. He said the Dark Trooper armor was filled with “me”. I think he meant that not only in that specific situation, but also… all Dark Troopers. He’s trying to clone himself like Kamino cloned Jengo Fett to make the original clones
Yeah That's what I kind of thought as well. I just thought it was an odd statement. But some people may be. He's just talking about the suit that he was in but can you imagine a bunch of troopers cloned Gideons?
I think he wants Pershing to Augment HIS DNA so he can become force sensitive and weild Ultimate Power.

I was curious how Moff Gideon knew Bo- Katan had possession of the Dark Saber? By his account wouldn't he had thought Din Jarin had it. So since the people to witness that passing of the Saber were the Night Owls I believe its one of them who could be the second spy.
when Gideon lands, he says to his troops to disarm Din, and in that moment its clear Din doesn't have the DarkSaber, so he wouldve assumed that Din had given it to Bo-Katan

@Orchidilia . . . He wouldn't. Axe Woves believes his leader is the wielder of the Dark Saber. He became Moff's spy when Moff had the dark saber and remains loyal because he's allowed to be a privateer using Moff's own Imperial ships by the Moff himself. He's the Mandalorian who rescued the Moff.
@Shawn Eleby he would though, Din tried to give it to Bo after he won it Gideon witnessed it and mocked them both. If Din doesn't have it, and Bo us leading, I'd think it's pretty obvious Bo has it
I thought the same, kinda leading me to believe Axe is the spy and he relayed the information to Gideon
I do find it suspicious that the "pirate"/survivor Mandalorians knew how to take the group to the Great Forge, but apparently did NOT know there was an Imperial base in the area.
They also have a strong motivation to work with Gideon - "Join me or die"

Moff Gideon rescued Moff Gideon from the first republic shuttle. His obsession with cloning has been about cloning himself so he can be inside every Dark Trooper suit. With that in mind, he will not be completely killed off in the next episode.
I feel like they are trying to make us think the Armorer is the spy, but it just seems too obvious, so my guess is that it is a misdirection.

On the contrary, I think the Armorer recognized how sus the survivors were and will interrogate them on the ship. That will allow them the heads up to avoid the imperial attack.

I have to say I don’t think Gideon was trying to clone palpatine, he always talks about building his army and his agenda. I feel like he’s trying to clone some sort of stronger entity to build his army from so he’s unstoppable. He just seems like he’s more out for himself then the greater cause
He said he wanted to join what clones, mandos, and jedi had to offer plus he said “the best part is it has me in it” when talking about the darktrooper. So I believe he is trying to clone an army of force sensitive versions of himself covered in beskar armor.

He has no intention of submitting to Thrawn.
Along with the fact hux is the one focused on cloning with sidious, moff is most likely focused on cloning himself we see how he tampers with it, hux suspects this and gets a step ahead which is why sidious is a step ahead of snoke , if you ask me snoke knew nothing of sidious being alive, he allowed moff to think he succeeded in his plan and his Version of the empire , snoke isn’t a failed papaltine he is a result of giddeons self cloning experiment rebuilding the empire just for sidious to take it back from the shadows without him even knowing, snoke seen the rise and fall, I think it could be giddeon if it is it saves the terrible sequel trilogy just a little bit
Or maybe thrawn takes over cloning operations for the resurrection and we get more reveals in ahsoka
I don't think Gideon is trying to beat Hux to resurrect Palpatine. Like Pershing said in his speech, Gideon is trying to use the cloning research to amass his own power. He's probably testing a high m-count formula on clones of himself to perfect it so he can give himself force sensitivity.
Honestly as long as it's not tied to those dumpster fires that would be fine haha
I'm glad this season is the first star wars with worldbuilding in 20 years instead of just mindless action but it's still pretty rocky

I don’t think it’s the armorer bc gideon was shocked to hear that bo and mando are working together, if the spy was the armorer he would have know this a long time ago
Armorer is also highly suspect because to forge Beskar armor you need to know how to do it properly. The Mandalorian method for forging beskar was a closely guarded secret, a skill passed on through generations to keep ancient armor intact and impervious.

I'm convinced the little cinematic details that have occasionally made us distrust Bo or the Armorer are meant to put the viewers in the same wary, not quite trusting mindset the characters themselves are in as they forge this tenative alliance after so much infighting.
Are we sure Din is saying that Grogu learned it from Luke? I think he's implying that Grogu learned about not allowing different Mandalorian factions to fight from Bo-Katan. Also, I'm sad you didn't comment at all about Din's pledge to Bo. Such an amazing moment.

But how does Din know about that conversation, he wasn't there. Honestly he learned it from Din himself, or that should be what it is. Din got between Cobb Vanth and Tuskens in season 2 episode 2 to stop them from fighting each other. And grogu was right there to see it.

I have to say... After watching the episode about three times now. My hunch, is that the Mandalorians that were on the surface... that so happened to know exactly where to find them... exactly who Bo-Katan was. Not to mention, they take them to the exact spot for the ambush. Most definitely them.
I agree, it's the pirates. They knew exactly where to find the group and knew Bokatan was there.

Gideon's "horns" look more like points on a crown. He has a very high opinion of himself, fitting with the rest of his armor and cape.
I like this interpretation. More regal narcissism than death watch/dark Sabre idolatry.
I wonder if there were 3 spies: Elia Cain and Axe for the Shadow Council, but also Pellaeon spying on the Council of hapless, bureaucratic warlords with their petty squabbles (Gideon included) and he’s under the orders from Thrawn, to see who is using the name of the Empire for personal gain vs actually progressing Project Necromancer.
Is grogu about to upgrade from IG-12 to Mythosaur!??? Yes yes yes yes yes yes!
Two things i noticed is that the animals on the spits looks like those birds they rescued. Their heads pointed to the left and their wings look like they are tied up like a rotisserie chicken. The other thing is the the two mandos that was on the sail ship lead them directly to Moff. I think the spies were these two and the wounded was the Mandolorians that resisted Moff when he returned and they had them held hostage and just gave the wounded back to sell the trick.

Some of the wounded are sitting and could just speak up. So they're likely in on it, if they're traitors.

When the Armorer ferries the injured back up to the fleet I was sure there'd be a reveal that they were under ambush by Gideon's forces.

I believe in addition to alluding there is a second spy, the title could also be referring to the scouting party as a whole.
Especially this season, we've seen plenty of references of the mandalorians likening them to Israel of the Bible.
When scouting out the promised land of Canaan, their ancestorial homeland, the Israelites sent twelve spies to spy out the land.
In the scouting party, we see twelve mandalorians (excluding Grogu). Just a thought.
I honestly want to see Gideon escape only to be confronted by Thrawn and eliminated as a traitor.
The fighting scene against Beskar Stormtroopers reminded me of John Wick fighting scenes with the bullet proof suits or armored soldiers with bullet proof armor where John also had to get close and shoot the enemies in the gap of their suits/armor. Not saying it's related or inspired but a cool coincidence.
Has to be Ax, he leaves to get "backup" during the fight by the forge.

It's not uncommon to leave a guard at the entrance to a city in case they have to go get reinforcements or be the point of contact for when that reinforcement arrives.
But this IS Star Wars. Logic is something used in sci-fi, not fantasy.

Besides, that idea still didn't mske sense.
In the heat of the moment, it seemed like a good idea - but if you think about it, it had literally no reason to work.
The ship is still on its way to the fleet and there is no way to communicate with the Fleet from the planet's surface.
Good thing Din gave the darksaber to Bo because things would have gotten worse at the ambush scene and there would have been no way for them to escape
The Dark Saber isn't some end all be all. Din defeated him before (with the help of Luke of course). Bo had it and could do nothing but retreat as well. Moff doesn't want to kill Din because he had the chance to do so
I was in denial for a moment when there's suddenly technology around them, "I'm sure that's just old infrastructure. ...that looks kinda Imperial."
Three ways to kill Gideon...
1) Bo Katan beheads him with the Dark Saber.
2) Grogu kills him saving Din.
3) Thrawn sends a young Captain Phasma to end Gideon!
Grogu squeezes gideon neck, the whole bad baby no squeezie is foreshadowing
Paz's death kinda also mirrors Duncan Idahos death from Frank Herberts Dune.
Facing off against inescapable odds both fighters fight hand-to-hand against elite opponents and die a warriors death for the future of people he serves to fight another day.
and the vibroblade also kinda called back to using blades & personal shields in Dune universe. i thought of the same thing!
What if the storms on mandolor are from the big storm thingies from battle front two and they’re being used to hide the imperials meddling on mandolor

It's both. Nobody was really injured, they are a spec ops force to take back Gideon's personal ship in tact
I also think the mythosaur will pop out during a battle at the end of episode 8 and take out most of Moff Gideons forces, ships, etc.
I think it would be pretty cool if they have Bo and Grogu work together to tame the Mythosaur and use it to fight off Gideons troops n rescue Din…….
Grogu on Boba Fett's back, while he uses his rancor to ride the mythosaur.
that is probably what is going to happen because Bo-Katan is the savior of everything this season
Grogu taming the Mythosaur is actually a pretty likely outcome imo, taming the rancor in BoBF was just his warmup for this

“The Spies” could also be a meta-reference to the biblical story of the 12 spies who went into the land of Canaan to spy out the land before the people settled there. John and Dave seem to be pulling a lot from the biblical story as a reference for the Mandalorians. They’re scattered and exiled after the destruction of their home, and long to return and reclaim their ancient way of life. Kind of a cool contrast to the Jedi, which heavily reference eastern religion/culture.

In the finale it's revealed that Bob Odenkirk is a secret Jedi in hiding who survived order 66.
Would have been epic if Bryan Cranston showed up as Thrawn and commanded Gideon to "say my name"

Probably one of my favorite Mandalorian episodes.
I think it's more likely that the mandolorian pirates work for Moff Gideon as supposed to the armorer but it would be a cool twist if the armorer worked for Gideon.
I feel like if they did, Gideon would at least feed them. Maybe the traitor is Axe? He left during the ambush to get “reinforcements”, but there weren’t any. Don’t really know though.

I think the Mythasuar symbol underneath the cruiser is foreshadowing of the immense size of the actual Mythasuar
This was definitely the best episode so far, the best scene in particular though was the Mythosaur in the first episode. I'm very excited for this finale and can't wait for the Mythosaur to appear along with hopefully Thrawn somewhere.
They came down on one ship, so why would Axe be in a hurry to leave if there wasn't another ship to use?
Because they needed to get help as Din said. Obviously they assumed the ship would return once the wounded were safe? I mean how do they even leave if the ship doesn't return? You can't communicate of scan because of the interference from the previous episodes.
and on top of that they traveled miles from where they first landed and there is not way to contact the fleet through the atmosphere.

But if the mandalorians left on mandalore know the Forge well enough they can expressely bring everyone to it, and that's the exact place gideon has been mining and operating those ships from ever since the purge, wouldnt they atleast see a ship and/or construction of gideons hideout...

Did anyone else get John Wick facing the high table guards in chapter 3 vibes from the way they took down the Beskar Troopers? They had to melee them in order to be able to expose a gap in the armor, and would often shoot multiple times at them.
Long shot but “the spies” might be a bible reference. When the Israelites escaped from Egypt, they sent twelve spies into the promised land to scout the area ahead of the rest of the group.
Nope it definitely is. Every episode title is a biblical reference.
Not to mention the fact that the episode titles don't leave things ambiguous, they are strictly what is shown in the episode.

If you watch closely, they made a point of showing sparks keep shooting out the side of his jetpack

His death felt very.. “we need somebody to die so this feels dire” rather than actually needed. Like how he said there was “too many” then beat them himself which kind of tells me there wasn’t too many. That or take a few steps back and then close the door?

The second spy could be Pellion keeping an eye on imperial rivals for Thrawn. He makes it seem like Thrawn is still missing but I think he might know exactly where Thrawn is

They want us to think it is the Armourer, but it is likely someone from Bo’s old team like Axe.

No, it’s Axe. And not just Axe. I think a good portion of Bo’s old crew are too. I only say that because Gideon’s troopers are pretty proficient with those Mandalorian armor and weapons. Axe also flew away, and not a single trooper followed or shot at him.
Handrails, where are the handrails. My kingdom for some handrails!
The lower levels of corusant are also very reminiscent of the way nar shadaa is depicted in the old republic mmo video game.

Hey did anyone notice on the rotisserie I'm pretty sure those where the giant birds bo called foundlings a few episodes ago
Gideon made it clear this episode HE wants to be the top dog. He calls for mutiny against thrawn. HE wants to rule the empire, and rule the galaxy. His plan has likely been using force sensitives like grogu to gain the ability to create force sensitive warriors who can then wear beskar armor and build the ultimate army. Force sensitives wearing beskar? No one would stand a chance. That’s why he’s settled on mandalore to farm beskar for his army. Obviously his plan will not be fulfilled as we’ve seen in the sequels, so I would not expect Gideon to live past the finale of The Mandalorian.
I think part of his plan WAS used, those clones look too much like Snoke.
The clones in those pods look like fully grown adults.
if it was the armourer, moff wouldn't have been surprised to learn that the 2 clans were joining forces.

I think both the Armorer and Axe are red herrings. I suspect the spy is Warlock, who's been on the planet, and likely in Gideon's pocket the whole time.
I believe that Gideon's helmet horns are more meant to represent something more akin to a crown that some one like a king or queen would wear. The spikes are on all four sides of his helmet. Gideon seems to be quiet power hungry, like most other imperials, he wants to be the ruler of mandalore by taking the Dark Saber, and he does not believe in Thrawn's "Grand Plan". All he wants is take all of this power for himself.
Nah just looks like the Maul death watch variant of the armor.
I'm thinking the real turncoat is Bo-Katan. Playing a long con, and perhaps a double double-cross.

I have to say, out of all the ridiculous theories, the Armorer being a spy is the most ridiculous.
So i have a question. Could Moff Gideon possibly have been with maul during his rule of mandalore? as well as the armorer? the horns on the helmet feels like a dead giveaway
Also have to consider that the other spies are, as you alluded to yourself, the Survivors who came to them on the iceboat.

I think the spy is Axe, as the Armourer doesn't have any motive to betray the Mandalorians. Whereas Axe has motive to be the spy (most likely money and status).

I think Gideon tried to clone himself, but being Force-sensitive. He needed Pershing and Grogu for that, that would also fit with the "Vader Drip" he's trying to emulate.

I honestly think Gideon might be a Mandalorian, he is obsessed with the darksaber, he led the charge to take over Mandalore for the imperials, the horns on his helmet reminiscent of Darth Maul's deathwatch, and he put the iron heart in his armor which is sacred to Mandalorians
