Hands down my favorite show. Maybe all time. I’d sit down today and watch the whole series. But super excited to see it broken down. I know a few stories (at least) are told incorrectly.
Chris, just a suggestion, could you do “bully beat down“? It was that show where people would come on and have UFC fighters fight their bullies,and it was bonkers
I did not fit the target demographic of Spike TV at all; I was a preteen black girl who was just fascinated by the things they chose to talk about. Going from Disney Channel to this was a wild time for me and I'm amazed I didn't turn out worse.
I used to watch this as a kid, I remember an episode covered what to do if you get hit by a car head first. (Jump and aim for the windshield) Later on in my early 20s while riding my longboard I was struck by a driver who wasn’t paying attention to the stop signs on the road and successfully applied it. While I might of done this by instinct anyways I can’t help but feel slightly indebted to this silly/toxic show. 😅
Honestly great advice though. I watched my friend get hit by a car before a gig. He jumped, rolled over the hood, off of the side of the car, and ended up being totally fine and doing the gig after. Great times.
I don't even know where that came from though. Alcohol itself is a muscle relaxant and absinthe was banned because something about it maybe being phychoactive. It's no longer banned and doesn't contain anything phychoactive
The only two Manswers questions I remember from the episodes I watched were - How many non-alcoholic beers would you need to drink to get drunk and - How fat would you have to be to become bullet proof.

Just to be clear, Spike was my favorite channel as a kid. Not for ball exploding farts on Manswers but because Star Trek: The Next Generation would have daily marathons. That channel got me hooked on Star Trek. A love that continues to this day.
Their horror movie marathons during October were also pretty great. I think they'd have one day during the month of October where they would play pretty much every Stephen King movie they could.

Oh Spike TV...so...I have autoimmune disease & when the 2nd generation of biologics came out my doc &I figured I should try it. Bc those meds were delivered via infusion, dripped intravenously every few weeks for up to 6 hours, the place was a hybrid clinical environment run by nurses with a doc on call in the building. The clinic was like the unholy offspring of a mid-00’s McMansion showroom den & a hospital. The nurses were great, lots of tlc & snacks. Unfortunately I had a serious allergy to my meds, but my illness tries to kill me often enough we opted to persist & see if we could adjust the process & I’d acclimate over time; we were hoping I could just push thru it & get conditioned, so we committed to trying the biologic for a year. True to plan, I kept trying, as my allergy got more severe instead of less & the nurses were constantly having to shoot me up with Benedryl & keep me on the lowest drip rate so it took forfuckingever, & it was a fairly extreme set of bodily states, both freaky + familiar, that I’d cycle thru so rapidly, infusion days it felt like Hollywood portrayals of possessed people. In the midst of all this drama, I’m on these special Lay-Z-Boy luxury medical cushy armchairs the clinic had, & the biggest mofo TV I’ve ever seen is blasting away, & I never watched TV much & often didn’t have one at home, so it was already bizarre yet mesmerizing, & I’m going thru this acute body horror...& in the whole year the only things they ever played that i saw on the mega-screen was Spike TV-some show that had reenactments + talking heads about spectacularly weird or awful deaths, explained in gory detail, & CSI Miami, & another show like CSI but a little more gory + sensational, which is saying something. It was surreal to spend an afternoon in waves of anaphylaxis + benedryl in a cushy recliner with tubes coming out of me, nurses watching me like hawks, with hardboiled detectives yelling at reluctant witnesses or blasé forensics specialists ate sandwiches while they processed serial killer crime scenes & almost every episode included a sex-worker being demeaned, often by a supposed protagonist. Wild sh*t. Apparently I got Pavlovian associations with the mere mention of Spike tv, that came back really viscerally.
There is a hilarious movie from the 70's about a scientist that creates a machine to harness the power of sex. It's set during an energy crisis. I remember it from when I was a kid. The best scene is where a kid is trying to watch tv and the parents are getting tired from doing it so much that they can't keep the tv going, the kid gets mad and I just laughed my ass off.

I used to watch this show all the damn time and one segment that sticks with me is asking if you can kick a dude so hard he shits himself. Anyways since you're doing the best of spike tv you should look up a show they did called surviving disaster. It was only one season but it was pretty nuts considering it did dramatized plane jackings, nuclear attacks, pandemics and home invasions.
Mentioning Spike TV just reminded me of 1000 Ways to Die. That show was peak horrendous comedy, but damn was it funny as a kid. Oh and from the Canadian side of trashy reality TV, there was Keys to the VIP. Just peak 2000s trash.

Anyways since you're doing the best of spike tv you should look up a show they did called surviving disaster. It was only one season but it was pretty nuts considering it did dramatized plane jackings, nuclear attacks, pandemics and home invasions.
