- Today we're once again taking a look at NEXT, and it is still MTV's trashiest reality shows. Even if it's only been 2 and a half years since I've seen it but that's enough for me to dump it from my brain. Anyways enjoy this look down memory lane with some classic MTV reality dating show cringe.

I swear MTV used NPC's for their shows..... Also the fact that Jeff put her in that death contraption had me dying. Imagine every girl walking back on the bus with missing limbs and battle wounds from Derick's "Saw" games he puts them through just to make sure they can save his aunt from burning building.... Damn that was rough to watch.

Just to give you a little insight because I too was on a MTV reality show in 2006.. it’s not that these shows are "fake" but they are produced and do have directors and crew… for example a lot of the lines that these people are saying were given to them by the producers. And I guarantee you there were at least 2-3 producers on that set. Also, the contestants have to audition to be on those show. When they are cast the producers call them up for a ore-interview to ask them questions about their personalities, likes/dislikes, and something unique that stands out about you that they can incorporate into the show. In this case the girls giant tongue. This was most likely discussed in the pre interview and the producers probably brought a tape measure for that very reason. They probably suggested she bring up the topic about weird body parts to segue into that bit… also shooting the episode is a long process.. it’s normally takes 12 hours to shoot so the reason it got dark was because they had been filming all day. They probably had a decent size crew to set up the different gags the girls were gonna do. Also, they have to break for lunch and that’s about an hour at the 6 hour mark. Most likely the girls weren’t going to change in that phone booth in front of him so they filmed going into the booth.. then they cut and the girls go change.. then they film her stepping out of the booth. All that takes time. Lastly, they probably got paid cash for being on that show. When I did my show I got about $200 for the day cash. So, I’m sure they got something comparable. Anyway just a few insights from my experience.
So in other words, fake.

I think she was referring to Miss teen South Carolina when she was asked why most U.S school students couldn't find The U.S.A on a map. Her answer was a jumbled mess where she mentions "it's because most students probably didn't have maps".

Early 2000s mtv was top tier. I remember walking home from school and watching TRL, Next, Room Raiders, and all the other great stuff they had before literally only playing ridiculousness

I wouldn't call 2005-2008 early 2000s...
They filmed this (frequently, not always), at the beach/near the beach in my hometown, and MTV producers would just come hit people up saying, “are you over 18?” And get them filming this or Date my Mom 😂

GAHHHH I REMEMBER THIS SHOW TOO WELL 😭😭 haha it’s amazing how cringey everything was at that time. The choppy haircuts and the spaghetti strap tank tops are just too much for me. 🤣🤣
A couple things: 1) I love that shirt and 2) I just recently found your channel, which is shocking since I watch Gabi Belle, Andy King, Kurtis Conner, Drew Gooden, Drew Gooden when he's pretending to be Danny Gonzalez, Scott Cramer, Eddy Burback, and... well, you get the point. It's absurd it was never recommended to me before the last few days. Anyway: as someone who has recently been playing Jedi Survivor, all I can think about as you cycle through haircuts in all of the different videos from over the years I've been binging, is that it's like checking out all of the character customizations for Cal Kestis. (I'm saying you really remind me of Cameron Monaghan.)
