The best way to know and understand a country for a tourist/foreigner is by going to the not so touristic place or non tourist place at all. It takes skill to be able to get close to the locals and be accepted as a special guest and not as strangers, this way one will be able to experience the true life of the people (country). This is how the chinese survive living in Indonesia or other country.. they have this specific skills to "adapt" to the new/foreign place they visited.. and eventually have no difficulties surviving in the future.
Definitely I am as local will not walk that area. Surprisingly you do it with full smile and kindness with everyone you met... salute to your positive vibes. You are cool 😊
On the contrary in Indonesia you'll be safe in high density village like the one you see on the video. The communal and family based environment doesn't allow violence and doing harm to others.
Nice work. I visited Sunda Kelapa about ten years ago and the dock workers were baffled by my picture taking. I did not go as far as you did but wish I had. Thanks for venturing beyond the malls and traffic of Jakarta!
4:044:26 The Sunda Kelapa Port area was the old port of Jakarta before independence when it was colonized by the Dutch, now more activities have moved to the Tanjung Priok Port area. This area is often flooded because it's often affected by coastal tidal flooding. 12:0512:3323:13 Many people in Indonesia continue to smoke due to a combination of cultural acceptance and psychological factors like stress relief and social belonging. The act of smoking is often perceived as a coping mechanism for stress or as a social ritual and gatherings, serving as a form of social glue. For instance, offering a cigarette is considered a gesture of friendship and hospitality, which can make it a prioritized expense even over basic necessities like rice and eggs. 26:03 Many people in Indonesia frequently smile, greet, and wave to foreign tourists as a reflection of their deeply ingrained cultural values of hospitality and warmth. This behavior is rooted in the hereditary culture of Indonesia, which places a strong emphasis on "gotong royong," (mutual cooperation) a Indonesia term for communal cooperation and social harmony, leading to a desire to make visitors feel welcome.
- Cigarette's price in Indonesia also plays a major role as to why many Indonesian people are constantly being tempted to smoke, being so affordable (especially it's widely available for purchase as little as per piece by street vendors). Sadly for the same reason, under age adolescents are often seen smoking during or outside school as well. - Despite being under "attack" on your very last bill, and yet still being very generous. You have a heart of gold, Ken. Good Karma will come to you.

Wowww...the best trip I've ever seen from foreigner...
Yup... I went to that area before and paid Rp 100.000 for privat ship....while in the center of journey, they took a lot of fish etc from the sea and gave me some fresh fish etc...very delicious taste because it's fresh from the sea... also offering me trip to onrust island which is the nearest island .. but I have to go home soon...
Not every comments told you the reality...maybe never experience with that....for me that was an amazing journey and the people also very kind and friendly...
Nice to watch every your journey... 👍
Health and Safety is what stops people getting near wharves in the western world. Good content by the way.
I like to look on Google maps to track your journeys...that is a HUGE distance from Jakarta to Brazil! Wow. But I need to quit stopping the video every few minutes to comment, I have much more to go.
As an Indonesian I highly appreciate this kind of trip vlog
22:58 So rude, he think he is funny or cool showing finger like that but actually showed how uneducated he is, somebody should give him a lesson
We're very sorry for this Ken 🙏🥺
memalukan, semoga bukan gambaran sebagian besar rakyat Indonesia
Gayanya angkuh, sok cool tapi salah target, teasing ngomong ganja" tar ditonton polisi diciduk baru tau tuh bocil kumisan.. 😮💨
26:53 miskin sampai tahap kena mengemis dan minta bule belikan tauhu..hahahaha
lu ga diajak blog... urus aja negaramu sendiri, komentar ini hanya buat internal kami, kamu ga ada bedanya dengan dia yg kamu bilang mengemis, kamu mengemis perhatian di negara orang@@brandenlowmalaysia28low62
Well, what do you expect from people with a mentality of a 🦍🤷♂
Best video bro.. keep going!!
Hi Ken, looking good bro. Its nice to explored less tourist area. Just be safe and becarefull at remote area. Enjoy
Hi Ken, i apologise for the guy’s behaviour towards you. they think it’s normal to be acting in that manner, this is mostly influenced by western movies and lack of education which unfortunately it’s quite common in the country.
I salute your positive outlook on everything and anything that comes your way. Be safe!
Mungkin mereka Lagi Mabuk..
@existingfacts01 Yakin Kah?? kamu mau taruhan jiwa kamu buat statement barusan ??
@existingfacts01persentasenya beda jauh

Sangat membanggakan mental orang indonesia yg katanya ingin maju itu dihadapan bule 🤣🤣
😂😂😂
ya liat wilayahnya jg bule dateng ke pemukiman kumuh lo mau ngarepin masyarakat yg kaya gmn wkwkwk di semua negara jg gitu bro jangan mengeneralisasikan semua orang Indonesia sdm rendah
Fun video from beautiful country of Indonesia although truth be told my migraine ain't improving after watching
Bless you, Ken!
Be carefulll my friend walking on the loading boat, safety first, that guy mean Riau not Rio in Brazil 😂😂 Riau its not far from Batam once you were cross from Malaysia before
the fact is that 40% (112 million) Indonesian are poor and midle income (world bank report 2017) the rest 60% (168 million) are high income, look like its twice germany population (84 million on 2022). Indonesia is not bad at all, its in the right track to become wealthy country.
Great job Ken, for a handful give, God will returned it back to you with the rewards in an arm length. God blessed you bro...
Hope you enjoy your adventure in Indonesia,,, but please be carefull i'm worried when watch your video,, 😂😂😂 im from Indonesian,, you have to try Sulawesi Island to go
you are very adventurous for travelling to places and showing places not normally seen - stay safe - do what you do🍻
There are uneducated and uncivilized people like that everywhere in the world. I applaud Ken for taking that risk and going to non-touristy places. The good experiences outweighs the bad.
Hi Ken. It is so respecful
