My previous Jakarta vlog ➡️ • $1 Es Doger Street Foo...
I am always curious to look behind the tourist places in each country that I visit. So, I want to do the same here in Jakarta, Indonesia. I heard that the area around the old port in north Jakarta is interesting and I also heard that it might possible to do a boat ride there. So, I went to the port in Jakarta, called Sunda Kelapa, had a walk around, met tons of friendly people and ended up inside a water village. Definitely a place where you don't see tourists in Jakarta. That port you went to is indeed not visited by tourists, because it is the port working area, haha!
It would be better for the worker to tell you to pay before you get on the boat than to ask for money afterward!
I'm glad to know why you like the port. The childhood memories are indeed wonderful!
Thank you Ken for always helping locals and making the world a more beautiful place! 👍🥰🙏
he already tell how much in 13:10 did you not see?
@@razfaren Did you really watch this video? That worker invited him go to that boat at 5'14", and want money at 9'50, how is it possible at 13'10?
Yeah beware of scammers

Hi ken.. I think the man means “Riau” not Rio. It is a province in Indonesia located on the east coast of the central island of Sumatra. 😊
Ya biasa orang jawa kalo ngomong au itu ga bisa , Rio Rio padahal Riau .
Haha baru tau, rio itu riau, iya kayanya bapaknya orang jawa
😭Kok aku nggak kepikiran Riau ya, aku malah ikutan bingung.
Rio Brazil bos 😊

Yes,you’re the first and only youtuber/foreigner that come to that port. Never seen any kind of video from others❤
A salute to u, Ken for daring to go to this part of Jakarta. I really enjoyed watching u tread at the dock n going the ship for further view. Great video n looking forward to another. Stay safe always, Ken.
Thank you Ken for the support to local people in the village water.. you really humble and try to talk with them, thank you for your kindnes, I am really apreciate that & God bless you..
HI great video dude, The old dude at 7:28 was saying the other boat is going to 'Riau' its in Sumartra. Most likley to pick up some cement mix from the factory 'Padang cement' in Dumai. FYI the Manager of the cement company in Riau is German. to be honest the timber boats are likely 3rd party contractors, as far as i know padang cement have proper tank ships that transport as well.
You’re so kind ken❤️ thankyou and enjoy your trip in Indonesia
8:54 i think this guy meant Riau, either the mainland Riau or the Riau Islands (most likely the Islands tho)
Funny thing is Batam is in the Riau Islands where you just went a few weeks ago 😂
Great video! Very generous of you as well. Memories all of you will have for a lifetime!
Ken, you are so nice and generous to local community. You show us the real local life. Please take good care of yourself.
I really enjoy seeing you wandering around the local areas. You are so kind to the people you meet along the way, and the little children. I think you are brave also climbing around on ladders and boats! A really interesting vlog. Thanks so much.
Thank you Ken for sharing a great and interesting content. 👍👍👍😍😍😍
Ken, it's so nice of you to treat all those kids to some snacks, and I'm sure they really appreciated the kindness and generosity from a foreign visitor. You made their day!
Great video Ken, so good to see your generosity for the local kids, they appreciated it with their faces of happiness. Well done Ken❤
Great vid! Was there just before you, the dockworkers & local people were wonderful, loved it!
Amazing video! This type of Jakarta tour is exactly what I was looking for
wow.thank you for the most epic experience shared by you Ken. stay positive, stay healthy
We really worry about you going to places like this on your own Ken. Not all people are nice like you; it’s not worth the risk. Be careful, stay safe!
I agree! Try to go to any quiet areas at night.
On the contrary in Indonesia you'll be safe in high density village like the one you see on the video.
The communal and family based environment doesn't allow violence and doing harm to others.

Oh ken you are good guy and so generous and you want to shares with locals you're unlike many youtubers I've known but to be honest in this video so many rude people's and not well behave but you're responded positive hands down🙌
The most interesting video I've seen you upload. You're pretty brave mate. Keep up the good work.
Ken, I am absolutely loving your content. You come across as very authentic and a good guy. God bless you mate
Hi Ken. Thank you for showing us this side of Jakarta that tourists do not visit. This educational journey shows us the local community and their way of life around the port area. 7:05 I dont think that boat is going to Rio De Janeiro (Brazil), but if my guess is right, it is heading to Reo in East Nusa Tenggara (near Komodo Island). Your generosity is amazing. Keep up the good work. Regards from Singapore🇸🇬
I think it was Riau
Hi Ken, thank you very much for this authentic vlog. In 1991 i had been to Jakarta and went into the slums, which had only wooden huts and looked poorer as the area, where you have been. But it might be possible, that over 30 years they exchanged the wooden huts to the simole buildings, that you showed. It could be the same area, because i was also nbear the port as i remember. But 2 years later i had been to Calcutta (nowadays Kolkata), where even in the citycenter is was more difficult to cope with. Even 10 years later Calcutta was a lot better, and this is around 20 years ago.
you are so generous and kind to those people, may God bless you and all the journey you're going through
My wife and I are really enjoying your videos! We find them very inspirational, and you have a great attitude when you travel. We will be in Hong Kong, Thailand, Vietnam and Singapore in a few months, so we'll be sure to visit some of the places you showed us. Keep up the great work! Kevin and Margaret
Enjoy your journeys🙏😊
Ken your a legend! You take us to places where nobody has been. You will never see this on any other channel which makes this channel so unique! Keep up the good work! Love the content!

Ken, always look forward to your videos, unlike other YTB's, your videos have less special affects and music just love that about your videos very informative and entertaining.
That was very generous of you to treat all the kids and some of the locals. They all look thrilled to see you.
Ken a very interesting video. Seeing how people live and work in other parts of the world makes some of us westerners realize how lucky most of us are. Very adventerious of you. With this type of content I think you will increase your viewership.😎

Good you show this. 👍👍This is the REAL indonesia!! And not only the beautiful cottage and resorts like in Bali.
Love the way you speak explain the current situation fr every time around there ❤ too detail. The way your smile everywhere to everyone around ❤ so friendly.
i missed Jakarta so much..Tq Ken for your video.
My pleasure!
oh man, your generosity to the local people has moved us (your audience), especially what you gave to the boatman. I see you mentioned Werder Bremen, wow that is my favourite club too from Bundeslliga, the era when Mario Basler, Thorsten Frings and Claudio Pizarro were on their finest time.
I'll see your boatman and raise you 50,000 for 5,000 in sweets for the kids. Made a lot of friends with that.
Smoking is part of Indonesian culture 😂
Great guy! Thankyou for the video sir
Bagus ini konten nya, suka banget liat keadaan warga yang ada dipinggiran kota...

Totally apreciate your content. Very very good.
4:04 4:26 The Sunda Kelapa Port area was the old port of Jakarta before independence when it was colonized by the Dutch, now more activities have moved to the Tanjung Priok Port area. This area is often flooded because it's often affected by coastal tidal flooding.
12:05 12:33 23:13 Many people in Indonesia continue to smoke due to a combination of cultural acceptance and psychological factors like stress relief and social belonging. The act of smoking is often perceived as a coping mechanism for stress or as a social ritual and gatherings, serving as a form of social glue. For instance, offering a cigarette is considered a gesture of friendship and hospitality, which can make it a prioritized expense even over basic necessities like rice and eggs.
26:03 Many people in Indonesia frequently smile, greet, and wave to foreign tourists as a reflection of their deeply ingrained cultural values of hospitality and warmth. This behavior is rooted in the hereditary culture of Indonesia, which places a strong emphasis on "gotong royong," (mutual cooperation) a Indonesia term for communal cooperation and social harmony, leading to a desire to make visitors feel welcome.
- Cigarette's price in Indonesia also plays a major role as to why many Indonesian people are constantly being tempted to smoke, being so affordable (especially it's widely available for purchase as little as per piece by street vendors). Sadly for the same reason, under age adolescents are often seen smoking during or outside school as well.
- Despite being under "attack" on your very last bill, and yet still being very generous. You have a heart of gold, Ken.
Good Karma will come to you.
Gua nonton jg dale phillip, the lost boy, trus ada pasangan cwe cwo muda, yang sangat friendly untuk bule sebenarnya orang" luar Jawa. Bahasa Inggris jg masih lumayan orang luar Jawa. Kalau gua lihat di Jawa gepnya sangat keliatan mana SDM tinggi sama SDM rendah (U know what i mean lah ya). Kadang ngeri" sdap klo lihat bule keliling area" seperti ini. Klo kayak di Sumatra, daerah yang sama kayak gini, lebih enak nontonnya. Ambil contoh dale phillip, di dekat monas di mintain duit(ditalak) di kampung pelangi dikasih jari tengah, pas di Sumatra Utara keliatan banget nyamannya.
Nonton bule keliling Indonesia, seperti kasih lihat gimana karakter / keharmonisan sosial tiap pulau.
Kelebihan luar Jawa, ya SDM yg masih Pure

Oh gosh, what a great "adventure", exploring Sunda Kelapa, an old port of Jakarta. Despite the condition of that area, you still try your very best to film and share it with us....l truly appreciate the great job, thanks Ken. It's always nice of you engaging with the locals, seeking out how hard they work to earn a living. An interesting boat ride and amazing tour in that water village. As always, you are very kind and generous to pay more to that boatman and buy food for those little kids. How happy and excited they are ! A great experience at that village. Hi Ken, i apologise for the guy’s behaviour towards you. they think it’s normal to be acting in that manner, this is mostly influenced by western movies and lack of education which unfortunately it’s quite common in the country.

The best way to know and understand a country for a tourist/foreigner is by going to the not so touristic place or non tourist place at all. It takes skill to be able to get close to the locals and be accepted as a special guest and not as strangers, this way one will be able to experience the true life of the people (country). This is how the chinese survive living in Indonesia or other country.. they have this specific skills to "adapt" to the new/foreign place they visited.. and eventually have no difficulties surviving in the future.
hell yeah, love this little adventure and your Bahasa as well very nice brother :)
