    Indonesians tend to share selective, favorable images of Jakarta's modern buildings and infrastructure on social media, which can create the perception that the country is highly developed. However, the reality is more complex, as Indonesia still faces challenges with issues like poverty and cleanliness, just like any developing countries. It's important to avoid making broad generalizations and recognize that no country is perfect.

    In 2012 I once lived in jakarta and witnessed for myself that jakarta is a metropolis that never sleeps for 24 hours, infrastructure and buildings are so magnificent and modern but on the other hand many villages or residential places are very shabby and it is adjacent to such a magnificent building what a very contrasting scene! • @pmboston
      @pmboston ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The word comfort is confusing you. Liking what you are used to is a human trait, that’s what is meant by being comfortable. It just means there aren’t any surprises or new bad things happening. A comfortable chair or soft warm bed are physically comfortable but you see the difference? Also, you didn’t change the course of your life, your parents did. Their relations in the world did. It’s impossible to bootstrap your way out of slums when every waking moment is spent surviving day to day, hand to mouth. All you can accumulate is dirt. Slums need investment from those in better condition or they will always be with us.

    • @bell-xk5dd
      @bell-xk5dd ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you understand their language, it literally means they are used to the environment and they are alright with it. Comfort is subjective, if they’re alright in that condition, they feel comfortable. Of course if they could get out of the slum, it would be better, but they’re poor and where could they go.

    • @pmboston
      @pmboston ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bell-xk5dd really. What is the word in their language? I think I would like to decide that for myself. ‘They’re poor and where would they go?’ Is an assumption of hopelessness and immutability. It’s up there with’ the poor will be with us always.’ One of the most nauseating of Christian principles to my mind.

    Overpopulation is worldwide problem. Population governance is a well-understood science. Science has yet to become an applied technology. This slowness, to become an applied technology, is the problem. Better social engineering is the solution.

Usually those "poor" people are reluctant to move to another place due to " family reasons", job reasons, money shortages, no government assistance & no better alternatives ...Sorry this is only an opinion of a commoner. Homeless, slums definitely getting worse there, and those people are screaming for money from government. And of course, the crooked government sold their lands to those people or mafia. What a shame, the government don't have such a control over their people. It is easier to nuke them for sure, otherwise they will rampage and go to the presidential palace for anarchy demonstration.

    @ 5000 peoples in 20,000 square metres.
    Total 1M peoples in 200 kampungs.
    In 4 Millions square metres.
    700k people are from outside of jakarta.
    They have big house in their hometown.
    They rent house or built illegal house in Jakarta.
    300k peoples are jakartans since 1950 or before, so they have land certified.
    Government of Jakarta already build more than 100 flat or semi apartment building since 2014 - 2023 or more than 30k new house or equal for 120k peoples.
    They build it in government land.
    But Its not enough
    So, government must buy land.
    The price of slum land is 10 millions rupiah / square metres.
    It cost 4 Millions square metres * 10 millions rupiah
    = 40 Trilyun rupiah
    Or 2 billions $.
    Its small cost.
    Cause jakarta have cash money 80 Trilyun rupiah /year.
    We can do this for next 10 years
    If we want to.
    But former gubernur 2017 - 2022 doesn't want that consept.

      But there are a few countries that manage to eradicate extreme poverty and homelessness. Took China some 30 years to lift more than 800 millions people out of poverty. If there’s a will, there’s a way, and the Chinese government was determined to eradicate poverty and they succeeded. Now 80% of the Chinese live a middle class lifestyle with very high standards of living. 80% middle class is an ideal percentage for all countries.
      China has 1.4 billion people, that’s huge. If China can do it, so can Indonesia. It takes a dedicated and determined government to do it. China still has rooms for improvement and they are thriving to clean up the rural areas. Though there are still many old houses in rural areas in China but they are not slums, many old houses are uninhabited and abandoned. What Indonesia needs is a good, strong government, free from corruption and greed.

To also invest in their education and their transition into professional life that will allow them to transition out of the slum community gradually and humanely. This solution is worth the investment by the corporate rich.
