  • We painted Tesla Model Y 2-toned Gemini hub caps painted satin black for a much cool and sleek look. It's pretty easy and changes the look of the wheels.

Thank you for watching our Model-Y Gemini hub cap paint video. For all of you wondering how the wheels turned black, we powder coated them. Well, we had our buddies powder coat them, because this is the way. But, our customer did not want to slap on his two-toned Gemini hub caps on a black wheel. It would look a bit funny, so he asked us if we could paint them satin black. Of course, we were happy to oblige!
This isn't one of our "how-to" videos, but please let us know if you want one on the powder coating or satin black painted hub caps. If you followed our previous painting videos, there isn't much difference in the process from a regular painted part. The material or paint were using is just slightly different. You cannot use regular clear on a satin color, because it's a semi-matte and gloss look to it. The Tesla wheel looks great without the hub caps but we actually learned, the hub caps are aero-dynamic. We assume it helps with speed or effeminacy of some sort.
Please tell us what you think of the wheels! We can powder coat and paint the hub caps for you!

Is that a glossy black paint? Do you think the same color spray can be available to buy in stores? Also does this paint go away if we give it for car washing?

Its a matte semi gloss clear coat. There maybe similar colors available but the effect won't be the same. It won't come off as long as you prep, clean, and spray correctly. Biggest thing is to prep correctly.

Sad that you didn't show the final result. It wouldn't hurt to mount it in the car so we could see how it turned out.

Hello! If I recall correctly, we powder coated the wheels for around $600 and each hub cap painted was $75 or $300 total. Every shop will differ based on their labor rate and material cost. I hope this helps. Please subscribe if you haven't, it helps us a lot!
