Regardless of how you feel about the character, you have to admit, Mel Blanc and Eric Bauza voiced him perfectly.
Mel Blanc did a much better job.
Jeff Bennett and Maurice LaMarche are way better than that
I enjoyed Pepe's performances and character! He's still a Casanova that falls for the lady's as hard as he fails as it! Love the contributions all these actors have performed!❤ All wonderful !!!❤
Pepe is my favorite looney tunes character. It’s a shame about what’s going on with him nowadays. He’s not trying to be abusive, he can get carried away sometimes with the romance. Just wish they would soften his character in later appearances. I did like him in the Looney tunes show and in new looney tunes, specifically new looney tunes, since he became a spy to be his occupation.
As for voices, Mel Blanc and Rene Auberjenois, fit the character. The others are ok, but they don’t have enough suave to give to him nor do they try to get the French accent right. Eric Bauza comes close to trying. I wish Mike Myers could be added to this list, since he was going to be a part of the scrapped Pepe le Pew live action movie, but sadly there aren’t any recordings out there from him, so I guess it’s up to interpretation.
Overall, great job Dave, and hopefully this lovable skunk can get himself a redemption arc someday.
Greg Burson
Billy West
Joe Alaskey
Jeff Bennett
Maurice LaMarche
YOU ARE THE BEST TH-camR EVER!!!!!!!! THIS IS MY FAVORITE SERIES PLEASE MAKE MORE
No one really captures Mel Blanc’s playfulness with Pepe. But I’d say the closest for official voice actors we got are probably Joe Alasky, followed closely by Eric Bauza.
He’s not an official va for looney tunes but Luke Munsen has some of the best looney tunes impressions ever. If he voiced Pepe, he would be for Pepe what Joe Alasky was for Sylvester and Daffy and Yosemite, about equal with Mel Blanc. And he’s great at the other characters too.
And Greg Burson is great too.
From one Pepe Le Pew video to another
I had no idea Jeff Bennet voiced (and sang) as Pepe! Love it! Was also delightfully surprised at Billy West voicing Pepe the first time I played Looney Tunes Racing since I primarily knew him as Bugs and Elmer
Jeff Bergman and Greg Burson and Eric Bauza are really best actors for Pepe Le Pew and Joe Alaskey

Mel Blanc, Billy West, Rene Auberjonois, and Jeff Bergman are the best voices of Pepe Le Pew.
No Bruce lanoil is the best❤ Jeff Bergman is the best ever❤
Maurice Lamarche is handsome❤❤
Billy west is the best voice for ANY character he does😊

3.Eric Bauza
4.Mel Blanc
5.Jeff Bennett
6.Maurice Lamarche
7.Billy West
8.Noel Blanc
9.Terry Klassen
10.Bruce Lanoil
11.Rene Auberjonois
So amazing
My list of Pepe Le Pew voices from best to least favorite:
1. Mel Blanc
2. Greg Burson
3. Joe Alaskey and Eric Bauza
4. Billy West and Noel Blanc
5. Rene Auberjonois
6. Jeff Bergman
7. Maurice LaMarche
8. Jeff Bennett
9. Bruce Lanoil
10. Keith Scott
11. Terry Klassen
All of them range from great to good to decent
Bonus: I think Jess Harnell, Kevin Michael Richardson, Fred Tatasciore, Stephen Stanton, Tom Kenny, James Arnold Taylor, Keith Ferguson, Jim Cummings, Bob Bergen, Trevor Devall, Matthew Mercer and William Salyers would make great Pepe’s.
Another person who would have been a good Pepé - if he was still alive - was Rik Mayall.
It would have just been a perfect fit!
That Looney Tunes Show had some eclectic vocal talent. I liked having celebrity voice actors for the characters for a change, and they really managed to do it right. Plus, Pepe was voiced by the same guy who played the Chef that tried to cook and kill Sebastian the crab and had a whole musical number about it. As for more recent appearances, Eric just kills it as usual. I'd like to think Pepe saw the script for Space Jam 2, said NON! and did the Animaniacs appearance instead. He was certainly much funnier there, and if it was his last appearance, it sure was a good one.
Aw, I love Pepé! One of my favs.
According to a interview in 2000, the voice actor of Mr Salt from Blue’s Clues, Nick Balaban, said that the French accent from his character came from religiously watching the Pepe Le Pew cartoons
Pepe Le Pew He’s the best skunk character. And Mel Blanc also voiced Bugs Bunny he’s a great and funny actor he also voiced Heathcliff. The other voice actors are good but I’m not as familiar with them as I am Mel Blanc. Mel Blanc is a voice of many classic characters.
I first learned the name Mel Blanc from The Flintstones(Barney)and The Jetsons(Mr.Spacely). I later learned he did all-er,80 % of the voices for Warner Brothers...and had worked for Ub Iwerks, and Walter Lantz. As for Disney-Mel did minor voices in Pinocchio in 1940.
@@richardranke3158 He was a funny voice actor and was an amazing voice of many classic characters
Another terrific video, Dave. I won’t say that any of the Mel Blanc impersonators on this video didn’t do a great job (most were fine voice actors, and you’ve been hearing them on LOTS of shows for decades!), and in fact, I knew the late Joe Alaskey. And in case you didn’t know, Eric Bauza is the go-to guy for ALL the major Looney Tunes characters. But what DID out-and-out SUCK were most of the later character designs. They didn’t even LOOK like Pepe Le Pew! THIS is what passes for GOOD these days? NO, THANKS!
I’m surprise that part of the Skunk Funk song from the Merrie Melodies portion from The Looney Tunes Show didn’t wind up in here! Was the AT&T commercial in here as well? I think Joe Alaskey voiced him in that. Eric Bauza also voices Pepe in the Looney Tunes world of Mayham app game and although he doesn’t appear Eric used his Pepe le pew voice in one of the Looney Tunes cartoons on The hbo now Max series. Although Pepe does appear briefly appear in a bugs bunny birthday short. Although they oddly removed Pepe’s cameo in a re-edited production of it.
VIVE LA PEPÉ LE PEW!
I LOVE PEPÉ LE PEW!
Is it just me, or does Eric Bauza’s part sound not synced up?
I loved Pepe Le Pew ever since I was a young kid. He's cute, charming, and funny. It's too bad he doesn't appear in the new Looney Tunes stuff anymore. I miss him. I still have the DVD of his cartoons though. So I can still watch them if I want to.
My favorite Pepe voice is Greg burson yeah he might have committed a crime but his voice is so good it honestly saved my life from depression.
Greg is really great as pepe le pew!
What?
I meant that mel was the best at voicing pepe in the past!
@@mayracordero382 I was talking about @suitman saying he committed a crime.
Sorry about that
Mel Blanc, Greg Burson, Maurice LaMarche and Rene Auberjonois did Pepe the best.
I saw Mel Blanc on the stage at college years ago in 1976. He admitted to basing Pepe Le Pew on Charles Boyer.
It would be a shame if Eric Bauza confirmed he is no longer voicing the character. WarnerMedia executives made a huge mistake just to basically shelve him out of spite. I even heard their Twitter account deleted any reference to Pepé (not confirmed). They were basically copying Disney hiding their troubled history to appease shareholders.
The only thing I want from David Zaslav is to uplift any ridiculous bans and demand that cancelling a cartoon character is dumb.
I don’t think Pepe’s gone, but they’re just more careful how they use him. I’ve seen him briefly referenced on the account, but he is still featured in the Looney Tunes world of Mayham app game along with Penelope. They actually still merchandise the character occasionally as well.
@@zachhaumesser2092 He got MeToo’d out of Space Jam: A New Legacy before any animation can get started in 2020. The studio just didn’t see him fit and they got rid of Penelope because she had no foil to bounce off of. At that point, the rewrites definitely felt rushed so instead of rewriting her, they just had to cut her out. This was before the March 2021 controversy.
Warner Bros. executives not wanting him in Space Jam: A New Legacy is quite noticeable when just about every major Looney Tunes character is included.
I just feel like banning/retiring the character is a coward move on behalf of the AT&T/WarnerMedia censors. It’s one thing I want to hear from David Zaslav to basically reverse some of these MeToo/social movement era decisions. If Zaslav can bring back J.K. Rowling, I’m sure they can bring a cartoon character back but on restricted terms.
@@rwinger2481 right yes, I was aware of how it started with Pepe and with Space Jam a new Legacy. Even before that they were starting to be a little more careful with how they used Pepe. They stop using him and valentine merchandise as he was more of a spy like character in the wabbit/new Looney Tunes series. To this day, though he is still part of the world of mayhem game, and I have seen him and some merchandise, including in the WB’s store in Burbank. Actually Valentine’s Day, 2022 I did find some Pepe le pew/ Penelope, cupcakes at a local grocery store. I bought a hoodie that he along with some other Looney Tunes are featured on at Marshall’s and found a thermos with his image on it among other tunes at target. So he’s not completely gone. They’re just more careful with how he is used. They did poke fun at it in the recent Animaniacs reboot.
Do the evolution of Pepe’s character.
I did that two weeks ago

Pepe le pew: that’s not mistleto, it’s poisional happy hollidays❤
Pierre le pew: (shocked) poisional?! (Spots on all of his face)
random take: if a younger edition of pepé ever makes an appearance(like somewhere in the late teens), neil cicierega would honestly be a fitting voice for him
I haven’t heard of the converse commercial before. Any links to it?
A skunk in the official debut short of Bugs Bunny A Wild Hare, could be consindered "a prototype" of Pepe Le Pew, as not only is he a skunk but have a smiiiar deep voice like Pepe minus the faux french accent.
If Pepe le Pew were to come back, maybe they should take away the controversial context and try to make him more likeable.
How exactly would you do that? His character may not be “politically correct” these days, but without that kind of action he’d have no character at all. The joke is that he fancies himself to be the great ladies’ man, and has no clue that his rather overpowering smell makes that IMPOSSIBLE!
@@edryba4867 Maybe have him go slow on the romance.
@@rae-raetheturtledemon. or keep the James Bond type thing they did with his character in new looney tunes and ofcourse have Penelope be his partner in crime like an action spy couple of sorts.
@@rae-raetheturtledemon. Of course no comedy can happen can it Moa?

You might have to re-release this video for the sake of your Eric Bauza section. I don't know which was supposed to come first, New Looney Tunes or the Converse commercial, but the audio is former then latter while the visual is vice versa.
Can you do a evolution of carmen sandiego
Are they going to Discontinued on voice acting the character
I miss him, I don't care about the controversy he caused! I love him as a character!
I am shocked for some of the actors who literally voice Pepe I'm talking about stuff like the son of Mel himself Noel Blanc, Jeff Bennett and Billy West.
However, my favorite Pepe voice will be a tie of two between Mel Blanc and Eric Bauza both of them got their French accents perfectly.
I also like the other voice is too such as Bruce Lanoil despite saying two lines and never played any Looney tunes character after that, Greg Burson, Maurice LaMarche, Joe Alaskey, Terry Klassen, Rene Auberjonois and Jeff Bergman and one of them did pretty good as Pepe Le Pew in my book despite for the controversies surrounding him I am absolutely hoping that there's some character growth if they ever decided to do a short with him or something
Hello
3:49 and 4:01
Maurice Lamarche is the double like space jam and loonatics
Pepe le pew just said jingle belles wing😂😂😂6:23
Oh no pepe
Pheeew
Oh
I kinda feel bad for how wasted Pepe is. Don’t get me wrong, his original characterization is very uncomfortable, but I feel like him being an over the top romantic who fails because of his stench could be really funny, but the potentially fun character is stapled to a lot of gross and dated shorts
His original characterization is uncomfortable to people who have been conditioned to believe nonsense like thinking any of it is gross or dated.
@@Acrocanthosaurus His original shorts were gross which is why they are funny. Pepe is a stinky smelly skunk who harasses a poor cat but is too dumb to realize the misfortune they cause.
Vive le Pew!

Hopefully someday in the nearby future Pepe will be uncancelled and brought back in future works. All we need to do with him is adjust him for the changing times, cancelling is always too far of a move
🇨🇵
Je taime the ladies man skunk he turned out to be purrrfectly fantastically romantic and stripe on smooth in oo7 style and sounds like Antonio Banderas impersonation of puss in boots in a French accent. Chef louie from the little mermaid in 1989 may rip. Love never dies.
I still didn't get a droopy voice evolution
And you won’t.
Ok
Pepe la puw got baneshed into the realm of minor apranes
Pele is like Brock from Pokémon and Glenn from family guy getting women
Eric is just incredible as pepe le pew and I hope pepe will make a comeback!
The only thing that stinks worse than Pepe´s trademark scent is your bias showing in your videos talking about him. Objetiveness went on sabbatical during these two videos.
I have absolutely no "bias" in either way for this character. My Evolution was a very balanced look at the character, analysing his use in media and using quotes and references from either side of the conversation. As I specifically say in the video, the purpose is to analyse and help start conversations. If this entirely flew over your head, you either _viewed_ it with a 'bias' or didn't view the whole video at all -- both of which scenarios "stink."
These videos are historical documents, and I a historian - they exist only to analyse the past and explore various approaches to characters, with an entirely objective stance. At no point have I _ever_ imposed my own thoughts and feelings on characters in this series. In fact, the only time I've _ever_ spoken in first person in this series was in the Pepé video, where I broke my rule to mention that I had a 6-year hesitancy in covering the character, but chose to do so as it's my duty as a historian to do so. That is all.
I'm not sure how there is "bias" or no "objectiveness in THIS video when it's literally just comparing different voice actors? Again, I have to ask whether you bothered to watch the video at all before typing this comment.
Don't get so worked up. He's a cartoon.

Cartoon Evolution needs no evolution!
Everything needs to evolve eventually. That’s the entire point of this series.
