I hate those chain 3’s, too. I’ve been using stacked single crochets, but they’re a big thicker than a double crochet. I’m definitely going to give this technique a try. Thanks for such a clear, easy to see, easy to understand tutorial.
I used a similar technique to this but instead of working the cut-end or what I call the tail-end in, I either tie it to the other end of the yarn (because I find tying the ends together and cutting the yarn close to the knot to be neater than working and sewing the ends in) or, if I'm continuing with the same color, use the tail-end to join the round and build the standing stitch of the next round. I like to continue my crochet using the tail-end because it results to pretty much invisible join, both front and back. It is not as easy to frog though as the join doesn't undo by just tugging at the yarn and you have to start your crochet with a very long tail-end that you have to guesstimate.
Great suggestions, I tend to avoid knots, just because I've had a few undo on my in the past lol 🙄, but I know alot of crocheters swear by that method. I say if it works for you, definitely use it. Thanks so much for watching and Enjoy
@@jspcreate This is actually how I do my crochet. I don't often do crochet motifs but I often do work in the rounds and I just hate the visible seam the regular join creates. So I develop my own way that is similar to yours, but instead of working in the cut-end down the next stitch, I leave it as is, finish my crochet round and join the round like you do, then I tie the two yard ends together. While I was developing my technique I actually don't cut the yarn before but sew the ends in after trying the knot because I'm also cautious that the knot would undo. I'll still do the knot-then-sew-the-ends-in if my crochet work is relatively solid, with little to no holes in the design. I do the knot-then-cut-the-ends when doing lace-work (which is what I crochet often) because the sewn-in ends just looks obvious and very untidy to me.
Ah yes, the finer the yarn / thread, the more the ends will show. I do actually knot with finer work for the same reason as you. Definitely more secure because those fine threads are slippery and just darning them with no knots is risky business lol, plus those the knots don’t show because they are small. 👍

What is the blue and gray stitch count ....I use a magic ring to start ...for those that are beginners they would need an explanation for the blue and gray😊 chain 4 or magic ring
This isn't actually a pattern, just a sample to demonstrate the standing double crochet on. However, I believe the blue round is 12 dc that was worked into a magic ring, but you could use a chain foundation ring and the off white / grey was 2 sc in each st = 24 sc. Hope that helps.
That is a different technique. This one is for joining a new yarn. More tutorials for that in the future. One suggestion is stacked stitches. Thanks for watching.

I struggled to apply this to a treble crochet so I’m using stacked singles instead, which isn’t quite right. Any ideas?
