    Astro buildings had a factory ripped 2x6,2 and 5/8 wide pre nailed at the factory.to make a super srtrong ell ...the one 2x3 being half the width of the pole shorter on both ends,than the other 2x3...all were 8 foot long exactly...and all poles were set to accept them perfectly.The building was plumbed and lined after the frame was up with 100 foot chais and ratchet straps..they were then left in place till all the metal was on.TRUSS to truss bookshelf system included "saddle brackets"nailed on with a single nail BEFORE the truuss was set.THE SADDLE brackets are now ungodly high priced,almost out-of-reach compared to other systems.

    Can’t figure why you framed your roof sideways???

    Can you discuss how to make a pole barn more fire resistant. With the number of forest fires we have now this is important to many of us. Things to do and not to do. How to prevent embers from entering the soffits?

    • @bpdp379
      @bpdp379 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      More and more homes here in Montana are using non-vented roofs in order to prevent pulling embers in through the soffit.

      The Wildland-Urban Interface Code addresses the requirements for all structures.
      Leave no exposed wood members. Un-vented metal soffit panels. Insulate with roof slope so as to not require a vented attic space.

      Use full rounds for post. A 8 inch full round takes over 6 hours to fail under its own weight at 1400F. A steel beam fails under it's own weight in 15 minutes at 1400F. Also if you have full rounds commercial code says you don't need fire suppression.

    Book shelves add about 20% area to thermal bridges....wood is approximately 1 R-factor per inch

    Why not frame DIAGONAL BRACING???Or plywood sheathing??

    Can I install 24ft 6/12 pitch attic trusses on top of a 24x30ft post frame building, instead of framing the roof?

    I'm confused, you're building this for your brother in-law and say that you don't like to pour the concrete till after the roof is on? So why is the concrete already poured in this case?

    How do you frame splash plank so there is concrete lip on exterior of each post. Where concrete extends 1”-2” past post. Thanks in advance

      Can you explain why one might want to have a concrete lip on the exterior of each post?

      @@highontheoutdoors3867 In order to keep water from running below the pressure preservative treated splash plank, it would be best to not extend concrete slab past outside edge of columns.

    How do you have a roof without walls ?

    • @metalrooves3651
      @metalrooves3651 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      he must be in a low wind area...every year here in Missouri, someone puts the metal on the first with just poles holding up their trusses and the wind gets it!..THIS VID is thinking about having the ability to walk through the building during construction, which IS NOT THE CRITERIA l would use to decide the order of construction...

  • @jbezotte
    @jbezotte 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Your saying pour the concrete after the roof but do you pour a “foundation” for the walls first?

    • @stevecaraway9619
      @stevecaraway9619 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      On pole barns concrete is usually last. Poles are sunk in the ground past frost line. Foundation is different with these

    • @MikeThePoleBarnGuru
      @MikeThePoleBarnGuru 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The walls do not require a foundation as all loads are carried through columns to the ground.

    • @dirtbike662
      @dirtbike662 ปีที่แล้ว

      Or pour your pad or foundation first and then bolt down your columns, then you won't have to worry about pole rot

    You do get a better job pouring FIRST, no screwing around trying to pour thru the walls

      actally,YOUR WALL STEEL IS A STRUCTURAL MEMBER!..it is a much stroger building once the metalis on !! even though the wind resistance has increased after its on....
