    Dr McDougall saved my life. I have been following his way of eating since August of 2016. Lost 50 pounds. Dropped 3 shirt sizes from 4XL to XL! Pants went from size 48 To 40!

    This is great, I'm presently in the process of trying to find Plant Based Whole Food recipes that will satisfy my husband, my 13 year old boy and 17 year old daughter . I wanted to mention that Lundberg makes a rice called Old World Pilaf (Gluten Free) which is a mix of Whole Grain Rice, Black-Eyed Peas, Lentils and Split Peas and it is wonderful. I served that last night with chopped bell pepper, chopped onion, fresh corn cut off the cob, Collard Greens and Beets. Oh and a little oil free hummus. I got rave reviews across the board. It was sooooooo good! Just thought I would pass that along:)

      She never did do a video of her cooking with the Instant Pot. Once or twice she interrupted Dr. McDougall during a webinar to show everyone that she uses the IPot to make the potatoes that she was now using to make mashed potatoes, but that was it. I'm hoping she can be persuaded to do more cooking videos like the McDougall Made Easy and McDougall Made Irresistible DVDs.

    • @suzybear22
      @suzybear22 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Many years ago Dr. McDougall did a video showing how they eat/cook, and at one point in the video he showed himself making their breakfast of oatmeal and hash browns. For the potatoes he used a non-stick electric frying pan, poured half a bag of Ore-Ida frozen potatoes in, and put the lid on. He then said to walk away, leave it alone, for at least 10 to 20 minutes. After that time, come back, flip it over, and cook a few minutes more. Don't add water - it makes the potatoes mushy, and don't keep fiddling with them - they need to sit in one spot to crisp up.

    Love the New Book as much as all the other books the McDougall’s have published, thank you so much.. How about a Instant Pot recipe book next. Instant Pot cooking is simple, and is all the rage in the World... IP is fast, easy, Locks in the nutrients & fantastic to cook dry grains, legumes & Beans. As most of us work away from home & don’t trust leaving a slow cooker cooking all day at home...

      Freelee the banana girl eats nothing but fruit she is healthy looking as the two up above....bananas lots of pure natural fructose...sure does not get better than that....start with 10 a day and work your way up the banana chain...she eats about 50 a day...and claims that she has a health certificate from a university that does not even offer a nutrient program. I would go with her because she is as smart as the Mc Dougall

    I've previously been an advocate of the MsDougall way of eating but absolutely dismayed to hear him say that Hashimotos is caused by eating hotdogs! I can say 100% this is not the case, it's hereditary in my family. Both myself and my mother developed the symptoms at the same age despite her being vegetarian and me being vegan. I've seen some other questionable beliefs proposed by MCDougall that have been clearly disproven with recent science so now I'm questioning their approach full stop.

    • @OfftoShambala
      @OfftoShambala 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It’s good to question ... I don’t know all mcdougal has to say, especially about thyroid disfunction... however, I was recently diagnosed with sluggish thyroid and I’ve recently gone from a sad diet with eggs, hot dogs and sausage as my go to meats, so to speak... to vegan, lots of raw... when I run my diet through chronometer, I’m showing no iodine, around 70% zinc and 30% selenium ... all these are crucial for thyroid, apparently ... there is a possibility that a lot of vegans are not getting enough of these particular minerals unless they are paying attention... and I’ve heard that thyroid disfunction is common with vegans... after I’ve been doing that diet and paying attention to my nutrient intake, I can see why this is a criticism of a vegan diet... best food source of iodine is sea greens, I’ve chosen dried nori which is also high in b12... selenium is easiest to get from eating one or two Brazil nuts per day ... and I don’t recall what my solution for zinc was... but I am also supplementing those for a while ... good luck with your hashimotos ... my understanding is that is an auto immune problem, unlike my condition which is likely lack of proper mineral intake ... but, one thing I know about mcdougal is that he had a serious stroke at age 18 that has caused him to limp his whole life... it’s s miracle he is still alive ... I think he is 72 now, so I would not discount his approach altogether... but, You gotta do what you gotta do to get help with your hashimots, I hope you find the right approach

    • @MsSamchester
      @MsSamchester 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@OfftoShambala hashimotis is an autoimmune disease, not sluggish thyroid function that can be fixed with Iodine. I totally agree WFPB is the way to go but his lack of knowledge on basic areas and the crap his says such as this is dangerous. Dr Greger is far more knowledgeable and basis his recommendation on science.

    • @User0resU-1
      @User0resU-1 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You've kind of misinterpreted what he meant. He was using hot dogs as an example of one of the types of food containing the dangerous meat based chemical that causes it. This is a casual conversational interview, he's not supposed to be discoursing on detailed science. You can be confident his knowledge is deep.
