    I just slept on my back for the first time in the last 3 years of actively trying thanks to your help. I have always slept on my stomach but I have also always tried to stop and could never fall asleep any other way. Thanks for the amazing and well explained video.

    • @Jason-jk3tn

      @@puhacz4271 I actually did not. I remember that I woke up in a lot of pain. I think that my posture was so bad that it hurt to be "straight" for such a long period of time. I had to spend a few weeks working on my posture to decrease my forward head and rounded shoulders posture before trying again.
      I can sleep on my back now but I did need to buy a wedge pillow for underneath my legs. I sometimes feel very refreshed after sleeping on my back but I feel the most refreshed after sleeping on my side personally. I do feel like my posture is really solid when I sleep on my back though.

    Hi Trudy! After you and I texted last week, we tried several different ideas with pillows in all different positions to help Mom's back and hip pain. We thought we were doing what you had showed us in the past but nothing helped and she was still having back and/or hip pain every morning. Then I remembered your videos and sure enough there was a back sleeper helper video. Mom and I watched this together yesterday and she went to sleep with those pillows in that position and she had no pain this morning!!! Thank you!!! So glad these videos are out here! Mom says hi!

    This helped me profoundly. I have just realized after developing back pain that I have spent my entire life thus far with anterior pelvic tilt. Putting the pillow under the bottom of my butt stretches the lower back passively for me at night while sleeping, accelerating my efforts to correct my posture. It also makes back sleeping much more comfortable (something I also urgently need to switch to). Thank you!

    Great video thank you. So will this stop you trying to move to your side? I sleep side and back and the pillow height plays havoc with my neck as should be less high for back sleeping and higher for side sleeping.

    • @HEALWellnessandTherapy
      @HEALWellnessandTherapy  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, your pillow height will need to change for both positions. Just keep an additional pillow at the top of your head to slide under when you transition to your side. How much a person shifts from back to side through the night is entirely based on temperature of their body. Want less back and forth, make your environment or bed cooler!

      @@HEALWellnessandTherapy I did have one question that I would love to get more info on. Around 1:30 in the video, you slide your arm under the woman's back to demonstrate her arc and how that needs to be fix. Do you find that everyone has this, or is it just person specific. I just tried lying flat on my back ok my bed and I didn't really feel like I had that much arc in my back when I tried to slide my hand under it. Thanks!

    • @HEALWellnessandTherapy

      @@adamthewoodworker2571 On a firm surface, the arch of the low back should be approximately 1 to 1 1/2 inches of space according to research. When you were laying on a good supportive bed, the bed should accommodate for the space.

      @adamthewoodworker2571 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! One other quick question, I bought a leg wedge pillow and my thighs, calves, and ankles rest on it but my feet dangle off the edge. Would just my feet dangling off be an issue?

    • @HEALWellnessandTherapy
      @HEALWellnessandTherapy  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@adamthewoodworker2571 Yes, that can be a problem. The easiest solution is to move the leg wedge away from your pelvis area and fill in the space with a pillow…essentially making the wedge longer. I know it seems like a lot of pillows but it will let your heels rest in a neutral position.

    Do you have any tips for asthma sufferers? I’m trying to learn to sleep on my back, I last till a certain point and then I wake with a heavy chest and often an attack of asthma.
    You should know I’m determined to sleep on my back and side sleeping is a comfort, but I’d like to last until morning.
    I’ve been doing a lot of these techniques already, I hug a pillow, I pull my pillow around to support my neck, I support my lower back with the pillow under the legs (though I’ve been doing that wrong and will correct it)
    My neck position seems ok even though I use two pillows, I’m reluctant to lie my head back anymore as it triggers vertigo, lucid nightmares and sleep paralysis for me
    I do check how my neck and head are lying with my hands.
    I tried to sleep propped up instead but just got a neck and headache from it and gave in. I don’t want to disturb my partners sleep so I don’t want to pop a pillow under the mattress either.
    So any advice? My eye bags have responded well to back sleeping and my face isn’t puffy as much, my sinuses are also clearer in the morning just with the half a night on my back

      That is very common for individuals that are more side sleepers. Don’t force yourself to sleep on your back unless your orthopedic issues related to your low back, neck or shoulders are making you have to. One thing that will significantly improve the feeling that you have with your heart is to elevate the head of the bed approximately 20 degrees with either a wedge system or an adjustable base to the bed.
