I've only been training for about 5 months now so what George said in this video about bracing your core by expanding instead of contracting was some next level shit for me. I'm deadlifting tomorrow and I'm even more pumped for it now than I already was
@@nikodemg5635 Haven't tested my max in awhile but my pr is 365 at about 150lb bw. Should be a little higher than that now but I only have 300lbs of plates in my home gym
You guys are killing it on the questions being asked and the information you are covering!!! The hardest thing to do is relate these training styles back to what the majority of your fan base is able to do, and you do that wonderfully. George is talking about grip it and rip it for a hard and heavy set of rows and you're able to come in and ask the exact question I had: "What about us mere mortals who are not accumulating a few thousand pounds of total volume in one set because we can only row 250-300lbs. More sets, more reps, more times per week??" Really enjoy how Mark is able to cover what a world record holder is doing and also be able to apply that all the way down the chain for the average/above average deadlifter looking to get stronger.
+Phil Clarke if you do a power shrug like most powerlifters (George Included) do then you can go VERY VERY heavy. When I was deadlifting 405X1 when I was young I could power shrug 610X8-12.
+Vanilla Gorilla Same here man. I had boulder traps in high school. While everyone thought the slow shrug with the roll at the top of the movement was the "right" way and that power shrugs was cheating... Well at the end of the day the results I had said it all.
thechugdude i almost always try to do every lift as quickly as possibe on the concentric portion. If Work= mass x velocity x distance....and you're trying to lift the same weight (mass) over the same range of motion (distance) then moving it faster would create more work and stimulate more muscle fibres. Many people confuse the burn of doing superslow reps with muscle stimulation when thats really just lactic acid buildup because youre time under tension is going higher than it should.
+Vanilla Gorilla I don't disagree, but in many other videos he will talk about beginners should be doing 315 squats and 405 deadlifts. It's like, "ok, we get it, not everyone is on your level."
Gonna start doing some of these! I'm actually guilty of not doing abs yet wanting my deadlift to grow. Watching back on my deadlifts i see that it's the reason my deadift isn't higher than what it is.
is it good to round your upper/middle back from the start or in the process of doing deaalifts? Is rounding even a good technique? If yes, how much can you round it by?
If I want to get better at the first 15 inches of a deadlift; why not just do really controlles reps in the first 15 inches? I mean as opposed to box squats. I'm just wondering why I never see anyone suggest doing the first fifteen inches for reps. ... Anyone?
I think it was Ismo Lappi or Jarmo Virtanen (both Finnish deadlift specialists) that used deadlift stance squats to increase their legdrive for deadlifts.
I have noticed in allot of the supertraining vids there's heavy ass dumbbells sitting at the feet of those machines/racks. What are they for? To prevent the machine/rack from tilting?
Damn, I wanted to see those barbell shrugs. When he said that about doing 400lbs over your max deadlift weight for 10 reps.....I was like holy shit, did he just misspeak or is he fuckin' serious? And then I see Mark's head with the WTF??? dance across the screen. lmfao This was great a video though. Very helpful.
Interesting! pushing the abs out with a weight on is also used in ancient chinese martial arts sytstems for training internal energy qigong through the dantien
I thought you're not supposed to round your back when doing the box squats? Isnt that a bit risky? Mike was really putting some torque on his lumbar area.
just gonna go learn how to row 405 & 495lbs now... thanks George.
+Silent Mike Yeah me and you both!
+Silent Mike atta boy!
You should get Rachel Allbaugh on the powercast
+Silent Mike dude buy his PROM deadlift program it will get you in the 700lbs deadlift club. Its only like 40 dollars aswell.

@@1KevinsFamousChili1do you have a idea about where it at now? Funny I think we started lifting around the same time, February of 2015 for me
This channel is such an amazing resource for learning about anything to do with lifting. Mark should be very proud.

"You could get 1000lb for 20 reps on shrugs, if you tried..." George, plz.
He said that in the am too bro

+StaffordshireBullTerrier Same

The Yate's Rows REALLY work. I built size and added to my DL within a couple of months. It was quite taxing on my forearms, however.
Mike Acosta Double overhand or Double underhand?
Double over.
Mike Acosta thanks i will try it out
Its a great exercise to superset with chest workouts.
hey buddy do you recommend to do yates like george ?
Mark bell can you make a video with Jason Genova the sith lord
+Merry Weather I second this
+Merry Weather Jason used to compete in World's Strongest Man on ESPN. Back in the day.
+SirJaZZa01 before or after his MMA and semi-pro bodybuilding days?
+Hm1998 harry he also holds the record for the seated calf raise
+Merry Weather Try and learn something, instead of mocking Jason.
24:06. Love that Ultimate Warrior mask painting on the wall.
George's voice is so... calming, he's such a peaceful giant......until theres a deadlift then he turns into a fucking beast
When George tells u to do something do it
+StaffordshireBullTerrier yeah cant wait to try 1000 lbs shrugs for 20 reps
+Sayed Bilal if only we tried
+StaffordshireBullTerrier I'm not sure about that high belt position yet though.

Supertraining Gym Crew for life!! these dudes taught me alot! Mike and Mark. Thanks boys keep slayin!
Silent Mike can squat 575?! God damn that's impressive. I was thinking it would be closer to 525 or something.
What happens when you train with the best
eric10319515045 you form a platonic brotherly romance with the best?
He can deadlift 675!
+VinnyLogz That was geared

Holy shit, I love this channel. I've learned so much.
so so glad you put the wtf up after the comment about shrugging 1000lbs for 20 reps! This fucking hero is a different species!
What assistance should I do to help my setup( keep my hips low and not rise first when deadlifting)? Please help.
Not sure if George will see this, but does he recommend that his clients who pull sumo do these exercises with the sumo stance?
Jesse Norris at super training and vids like this pls
+Kicks4tomorrow I'd really like to see this, there's not much content from him online in regards to him explaining his training.
This^
was waiting for this! now time to watch
Those RDLs & Box Squats are the best thing for your pull
If I want to get better at the first 15 inches of a deadlift; why not just do really controlles reps in the first 15 inches? I mean as opposed to box squats. I'm just wondering why I never see anyone suggest doing the first fifteen inches for reps. ... Anyone?
My mobility sucks with a close stance, so would doing the deadlift stance box squats with an above parallel box be alright?
hahaha that sound that silentmikke made when he was doing the ab exercise with the barbell lol
I absolutely love this video!
pretty cool exercises! george seems like a pretty fucking smart dude
I think it was Ismo Lappi or Jarmo Virtanen (both Finnish deadlift specialists) that used deadlift stance squats to increase their legdrive for deadlifts.
Do you do all these accessories once a week?
Yo, Mark are those Iron Wolfe bars at your gym? I'm almost pulling the trigger on all their three bars.
That Box Squat Variation is Dynamite!
the "I'm confused 4 inches is small?" comment Smelly snuck in absolutely killed me
Was wondering if you ever use your belt during accessories?
Following this advice got my disabled ass to deadlift 405 and 400 on separate deadlifts.
Just a bunch of jacked bros giving Each other advice
I have noticed in allot of the supertraining vids there's heavy ass dumbbells sitting at the feet of those machines/racks. What are they for? To prevent the machine/rack from tilting?
just so you can attach Bands to the bar and rack and not flip the rack when you unrack. you got to be careful when you use heavy band tension.
12:24 Someone honoring the deadlift-stance-box-squat with fireworks
@supertraining06 this is by far the best channel on TH-cam. thanks for these videos
didn't really care for George before this. but gained respect for him here.
I love the accessories and these are some fuckin' great ones. Thanks +George Leeman
great video! thanks
10:13 I just died.
We did to
off to the gym to smash some thousand pound shrugs! George believes in me!
24:20 nice bit of foreshadowinh there Mark

Mark's WTF face at the 1000lb shrugs for 10 & 20 is priceless
Man, this guy knows his shit.
Is this your gym Mark?
Leeman makes Mark look tiny. He's huge. Great advice and video!!!
Iso Kiitos (Big Thanks) from Finland.
was this fillmed a while ago? Mike deadlifted 675 a while ago.
They filmer this like a week before, because Omar came when Leeman was still there, then they went to barts place
I love the 20lbs of chalk on that squat bar lol
I thought you're not supposed to round your back when doing the box squats? Isnt that a bit risky? Mike was really putting some torque on his lumbar area.
20:22 Mike is ready to receive some knowledge
side bends are great for grip too.
How do I keep my knees back on my squat.
god damnit yet another awesome video. stahp it!
what's the difference between Yates row and bent over row??
Yates row is more upright and typically pulling lower.
Jesse Noris, Jonnie Candito, Pete Rubish... C'mon guys!!!! Also thank you very much for all you guys have been doing in this channel.
George is awesome.
I love how that lady told KK to put it down twice
23:49 I'm going to do this exercise at a monday evening at my local gym :D
That little mark bell egg in the thumbnail is great
Pulled my groin going to incoorpate those deadlift stance box squats.
