Very intersting that you mentioned Conan, Berserk and Game of thrones. And heres why: When creating Elric,Moorock used Conan as a guide, doing the complete opositte (stronge agile black hair barbarian/albino warlock, saves his loved ones/kills his loved ones, from a mercenary to an emperor/from an emperor to a mercenary, fights forces of evil/slave to the forces of evil). As for Berserk and GoT they are actually inspired from Elric. Guts reletionship with his inner self "the beast of darkness" is inspired by Elric's reletionship with his sword the Stormbringer. And as for GoT....well many things are inspired by Elric. The Targaryens, the city of Valyria and many others. After, all George R.R. Martyn is a friend of Moorock and he always makes refrences of his work!
I was honestly blown away by how good this was the first time I read it. As far as that whole Bande Dessinée stuff goes, this is one of my very favorites so far, and it did get me interested in the original books as well.
There is also the twelve issue maxi series Michael Moorcock’s multiverse, the three issue Elric: The balance lost written by Chris Roberson and Elric: The making of the sorcerer written by Moorcock and drawn by Walter Simonson.
Great review. These are waiting for me at the post office! I hope you review more Titan Books in the future. I'm considering getting the Rivers of London and Lone Sloane boxed sets.
Does Titan plan to continue these? I know the first 3 books were sold as floppies but not sure after that. I would love for the whole Elric story to be done in these HCs.
They already have collected all 4 of the Elric volumes in hardback graphic novels. I have all of them already, but if you want to, just get the box set.
My local library actually had the first volume available for check out. And I did. Check it out. I did like the art style, the adaption, and if it becomes an entry point for someone to discover more work by Michael Moorcock, or French comics in English, I consider it a great thing. Personally, I am still drawn repeatedly back to the adaptions of my youth, in heavy Metal, in pacific Comics, and then in First Comics. I appreciate that you gave credit to some of these while praising these new adaptions.
Nice looking books, I wonder if Titan will use the same paper stock for the Conan omnis? I like the inclusion of the postcard as you can use that for a bookmark! Thanks Omar!
I read Elric a lot of years ago. It was awesome. For me is the best thing after Lord of the rings. I'm waiting for the deluxe editions and of course a proper series or movies. I wish you, and your family happy holidays. Greetings from Greece!
I really enjoyed Ruby Throne. They just put out the novels in new HC editions, and i was swayed to pick those up. Hope Titan continue to do more box sets!
I need a reading order for the COMICS of Elric. I littereally cant find it anywhere. Been searching for like an hour. They don't exactly match up with the book titles and no one has an explanation of order for reading ANYWHERE Please help.
They are the same size as an omni, but honestly they sould have been bigger. Still enjoyable, but it's clear that they were made for a larger size, like they were originally released. Really don't get why Titan shrinked this one, when they could keep the larger album format for their Lone Sloan releases (which also just got a similar box set release).
I hate to be "that guy" but I believe Melniboné is pronounced as mel-nih-bon-ay or mel-nib-on-ee. The "é" at the end of the word is a French letter that is pronounced like "ay" or "eh?" sound, so I believe the first version of the pronunciation I gave it the most accurate.
The books are great but I'm disappointed with The Dreaming City cover, it doesn't fit with the rest and looks out of place. I don't understand why a lot of retailers are advertising it with the art that's on the back of the book.
Be aware that if you purchase these individually, the spines change between them. I bought them all separately, and the wording is in different places on the spine. Makes no sense and not sure why Titan did that.
@@NearMintCondition But seriously Omar, I just gotta say how much I love your channel, especially the ones where you do the proper reading orders of certain titles, you wouldn't believe how many times I have reviewed your great videos on which books to buy., I purchase my graphic novels on your suggestions in fact. lol More power bro.

I want a box set of Batman: The Dark Knight Detective trade paper backs.

I have been buying these and The Michael Moorcock library graphic novels and they are fantastic!
a correction, elric hasn't been ruler for a millennium, he's in his early twenties and only ruled at most a few years

Wow!! Que Box lindo do Elric, é uma pena que aqui no Brasil não tem.
Great overview, Omar! Very tempted to add this to my buy list now 😁

Read the whole thing early this year, since we in Germany got a nice complete collection hardcover. Amazing Story with amazing art!
I’ve got some news for you, the Deluxe Editions are continuing. The third edition is up for pre- order
Oh yeah! I saw it solicited last month and I can’t wait for it.
this box set is tempting, but do you think it all will be released is one omnibus type of book?
Hmmm, I have the deluxe editions and hoped they'd continue those. What size are the box set hardcovers (e.g. compared to Marvel omnibus)?

Always be that guy!
they made 4 comics from 2014 till now probably how many issue still need to be done in order to fully cover the main story?
I missed this box set on ist. Defiantly want a fat omnibus one day.
Yeah. I’m ordering this. Thanks dude! Lol
I want this box man!
hey omar, how do u deal with sagging on ur many omnis ?
I've seen people use styrofoam blocks.
@@NearMintCondition yeah but what do YOU do ? with so many books
@@anbunight3662 Let it ride, my brother. Let it ride.
I have enough FOMO already so I don’t need to watch this but I can’t stop 😅
Nice
ELRIC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ❤🎉
I have this on the way and I want to go in completely blind so this is mainly a comment to boost this video in the google deepmind
I want to say the third book came out in the GIANT format but I was not able to get it.
Ohhhh

I think it's only on the US version as well. The original French as well as the Dutch translation (the one I have) are all with a more fitting cover.
it would have been cool if those postcards were bookplates...dont see the point of those cards do people collect them?

Melnibone is pronouced Mel-nih-bo-nay
Yeah, I pronounced it the way Omar does my whole life. But the audio books just came out, and your pronunciation is correct.
Thank you.
This box set is already hard to find, Amazon 3rd party sellers marking up already
stunning! but that last cover doesent fit the vibe of previous ones, FR has really nice cover :(
comment for the algorithm
My man!

Omar is so rich.
