That's what I'm talking about! Also what I'm running at (with BAC8000). Are you running a 64T sprocket? Hey Travis, always glad to read you man! Still running the 48T, which equates to a 52T taking my primary chain sprocket into account. I tried a 58T but that was too big, it was always getting hit by rocks and stuff. If I were a bit heavier (55kg, so yeah, not much haha), I'd need a bigger sprocket for increase torque. Currently it's just perfect but I tried the 18" rear last week and with this one I felt the need for a bigger sprocket. As for the top speed, I currently can hit 110km/h, so clearly, loosing 15% wouldn't be such an issue, especially since I could increase field weakening to compensate for those rare moments you need the top end! Also I measured to range difference and it's wasn't conclusive per my tests. Check out the related video and let me know what you think! th-cam.com/video/_NurZ97J2EQ/w-d-xo.html
@@MTO_Brothers Ah gotcha! Yeah I never tried tubeless but will in the future if this one gets a flat or anything. I do a nearby track and have tested 48T, 54T, 58T and 64T. 54-58T was nice for street since it gave me that extra top speed but for me, 64T gave me the most range - especially on the off-road trails (similar to the ones you ride). It also felt the best for torque. I wonder if my extra range with the 64T was just due to my weight then, hmm. Man sometimes I wish I was as light as you for riding these bikes, haha! Lucky! If you hit rocks with the sprocket though it's understandable. I never hit a rock with mine. I guess it would have to be a very particular scenario to hit it with a rock but definitely possible. My main worry would be the motor - I have seen so many people burn out their motor using a 48T sprocket with 15kw. That's why normally with 48T sprocket, people will stay at 12-13kw. But if you go 58-64T sprocket then you can ride 15kw forever :) Maybe with your weight it won't be a problem though! Anyway man you are probably my favorite youtube channel! Love seeing you rip through these trails! Wish we were closer so we could rip some trails together! Especially love the really technical trails. Keep the videos coming!
@@TravisNobles Thank you for the kind words Travis! Yeah too bad we're living sooo far. I still have in my mind that at some point, we'll put the bikes in our van, the van in a boat and go for a US road trip with my brother, that'd be nuts!! In the end, even my brother who's taller and heavier than me (75kg) didn't see noticeable range difference with the 58T. So we both reverted back to our equivalent of 52T (48T rear w/ primary 13/32). I'm always keeping an eye on the temps and so far it looks fine, in any case I configured the controller to cut-off if getting to high. By the way, don't you ever have the temps increase due to field weakening when going at high speeds (bigger sprockets have the motor rotate faster)? Although when it tested the 18" rear wheel the other day (video coming soon!) I felt like a bigger sprocket would be required for the heavier wheel as it lacked a bit of torque on those steeper uphills at low speeds.
@@MTO_Brothers ha, that would be awesome! Global Sur Ron trip! The majority of the heat is not generated by how fast the motor spind, but by how many amps it's pulling. And motors on bikes like this trend to pull the most amps at very low or starting rpm's. Overall heat is not the only thing that can kill your motor. Pulling such amps at the start can kill it. This is why the larger sprockets are such a huge benefit - they relieve that stress on the motor (at lower rpms) and draw less amps to get you up to speed. This is also why it typically makes the battery last longer (and it's also less strain on the battery and controller - making the life of the entire system last longer). Even with field weakening - yes, that definitely gets the motor hotter at the high end but a larger sprocket will still relieve the stress of that added amperage. Again, it's not the speed that kills it. All of that being said though, I think you are probably ok at your weight :) though I might suggest at least 52T. That would feel close to the same as what you have but with slightly more torque and less strain on the motor. And yes, a larger sprocket is definitely needed for the heavier 18" wheels and beefier tires! At least the stock tire is lightweight but... Not nearly as much grip as an 18 with a knobby tire. A better idea would be a 16" tire but maybe you would need the 18 for the trails you ride (to keep the bash plate higher).

Here's it's 15kW, some have pushed it up to 25kW. 20kW is doable but that's just for really quick bursts. I wouldn't go much more than 15kW as it's a lot already for such a small bike. Power without control is useless!
@@billyray7067 Yeah, and my car is way faster than your Honda, also it's 1.8 ton and won't go anywhere you go with your dual sport. Same goes for your Honda vs the Surron. The Honda is 130kg mate, you can't compare the two of them as the Surron weights 50kg and will go anywhere your MTB goes while you'll be having a hard time with your heavy CRF. Also the CRF has about 4,6kW/kg while the SR has 3.3. A tad less powerfull but so much more manoeuvrable. If you enjoy pedalling, that's cool for you, everyone has different tastes (petrol bikes, electric bikes, e-mtb, hiking, horse riding…).
@@MTO_Brothers your bike is very fast. Nobody could disagree with that. Your car and my crf cannot go on dedicated mtb trails. How much faster are these things going to get before getting banned?

I've looked into this.. for the set up I've seen with the bike, the controller, and the 72v battery were talking around 6-7 grand..I think these things are sweet but idk if I can justify spending that kinda cake

I agree with James. Unless the price gap is really low, 4000 allows for A LOT of power already. I don't know if you have seen my previous video (check it out here th-cam.com/video/rrWcsNuvMOM/w-d-xo.html ), I was running 13kW with the BAC4K, you can tell it's a lot to play with already. @@MTO_Brothers thanks for your advice. I can get the BAC8000 for 100€ more. I'm not sure if this controller is more efficient or handles the heat better. I also think that the power of the 4000 is more than enough for the SurRon.
@@tornadogti959 Yeah it's supposed to be more efficient. Don't know if the difference can really be felt on the field. As for the heat, that's bullshit IMHO as in any case, the motor overheats wayyyyy before the controller.

The biggest problem with SurRon is lack of battery capacity , 4500Wh should be an option but they need to ReDesign their frame
Yes, that would be cool. Give it a couple of years, we'll be there for sure.

T’es allé où pour la préparer ?
Je l'ai fait moi-même, il n'y a rien de très complexe. Tu peux le faire faire également. Tu habites dans quelle région ?
Salut,

On the newer ones yes, back in 2020 they were 5kW.

Thank you, I'm finding it difficult to find a 72v 15,000watt battery. Any advice on where to get a big battery that will fit and where would you suggest i go to purchase all the top suspension, 21" front 19" rear wheels and is the bac 4000 or 8000 better to buy straight away and het it tuned like you said you have done, thank you very much for your time and reply.

Incredible ! What is the limite of the power? I mean 13kw...what else ?
Here's it's 15kW, some have pushed it up to 25kW. 20kW is doable but that's just for really quick bursts.
I wouldn't go much more than 15kW as it's a lot already for such a small bike. Power without control is useless!
It's crazy! I have a Honda CRF 450 RL dual sport that's way faster. I'll keep my Trek Top Fuel for actual pedaling.

Hello wht so you so fort 15 kwn.please.
What was the final price of the 15 kw build ?
Around 10k
I'm currently on the fence of buying an upgrade controller and battery. I'm not sure between bac 4000 and 8000. What do you think?
4000 is plenty.
And it's definitely at least 14kW capable, it has 430 amps per phase if my memory is correct.
If you are enjoying the stock sur ron and want that extra kick the 4000 will change the bike in a big way.
Whats the range on this thing? This is the future....
I've made a video on the stock bike's range. It's around 2 to 3 hrs or 30km of off road. We're coming up with improved batteries that will last twice as that, while offering a lot of power 😎
@@MTO_Brothers I see, what about after the upgrade? Where can I read more about these new batteries? Thats really gonna change everything, nothing will be able to compete with EV cars or dirtbikes!
