    I test drove the 2016 Kia Sorento 2 weeks ago and I was very impressed.
    1) The steering is totally different from previous KIA's. It's on the heavier side, which made me feel confident. No more numb steering found in previous Korean/Japanese SUVs.
    2) The interior was very luxurious and high tech. Heated AND cooled seats. The styling is very premium with real aluminum and no more cheap plastics.
    3) The AWD powertrain made this car very satisfying to drive. One of the better AWD powertrains I've seen. On-par with the Toyota Highlander and much better than the Nissan X Trail.

    The 2016 KIA Sorento and 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe are both excellent cars.
    They are definitely better than the Toyota Highlander and Nissan X Trail.
    However if there was one winner, it would be the 2016 Sorento. Superior steering and handling, more road feedback and more powerful engine.

    I am a proud owner of a Sorento , and wow is it luxurious , especially with the fact that i owned a Mitsubishi Pajero , which was noisy , cramped and very low tech . Despite the fact that my Sorento is older than the Pajero , by one year. I absolutely love the Kia Sorento

    I imagine that because the Kia is newer it has the new new 2.0 turbo that we saw in the redesigned Sonata. Though it makes less power, I recall hearing that it achieves peak performance at lower revs and maintains it for longer, which could explain why it beat out the lighter, more powerful competition.
    As for my opinion on these types of cars, they're not for me. Plenty of people are probably going to be quick to ridicule them, but the fact is plenty of folks want the long warranty and loads of tech at a reasonable price. Yes, you loose a lot in terms of actual driving dynamics, but some people don't care about that.

    I’m owner of a 2013 Santa Fe sport... same body design. It’s a thrill to drive. It feels sturdy and firm standing, good gas mileage and I get 0-60 just under 8 sec. I also own a 2018 Cadillac XTS and I drive the Santa Fe way more aggressively. I just wish the sport badge they put on these suvs meant more than a slightly stronger engine and firmer steering.

    I have a 2011 Kia Sorento 6 speed Manual base model I use as a travel and work vehicle. I have fallen in love with it over the years and I think I might get another Sorento. As for drag racing, while these SUVs rolling bricks down the road, having a manual gearbox in mine allows me to rev out hard, do some gnarly burnouts, and freely rev until 6600rpm. I have walked several other SUVs, pickups, and other cars who never expect this thing to be this quick. The key is turn off traction control. It bucks the car back and forth like a fuel cut from the ECU which is strange. But, turn off the T/C and you're good to go.
    When I don't have my tools and gear in it, it's relatively light and nimble so I am sure that has much to with it. It's reliable as all hell and the things Kia has had to work on - sensors gone bad and a fuel door lock issue - were all handled fast and free under warranty. No real mechanical issues and I'm close to 80K miles.
    Anyways, the moral is this: I purchased my Sorento for work travel, carrying my camera gear, and big bags of tools - as there's a ton of room back there - and ended up loving it for personal use.

    What we should realize is that the Japaneese, Korean, and Germans build cars (with heavy use situations) build cars that will last, hold value, and still look in good shape, and still run well after 12 + years, that's substantial to our American cars that fall apart after 7 years hard use. P.S. American cars cost about 17 to 20% more. It's a fee country though, spend or waste your money as you see fit. If you want American quality stay with professional grade trucks and pay 25 to 30% more they will last 10+ years.

    • @leviSyosef

      Japanese is number 1 after them the Koreans
      Then usa and last is European shitty electric shitty transmission
      Build quility that fall a part
      If you want car for many years buy lexus or infinity
      If you dont have the money buy subaru or suzuki
      mazda nissan toyota all of them will last for longgg time
      If dont like japanese kia and hyundai will give you what you want for 10% cheaper price

    I don't know if Nathen was brake torqueing like Roman was that could of played a huge role in the Hyundai losing. Could of also the Hyundai having more turbo lag or the power band? But I'm guessing Roman doing the brake torque helping the turbo to spool more. Like to see a rematch with both brake torqueing it.

  • @925boosting

    I have a feeling the Kia has more power than it claims to have like Audi does. I'm all for that which I see as an bonus. It's possible the Kia's engine has an linear power band meaning it gets to it's power band quicker and stays at it's power band longer.
    I like the Kia better but I wonder which one had better fuel consumption? It wouldn't be a deal breaker if it was worst.

  • @johnrobert2148

    Here is why. The heavier vehicle will be pressing down the tires harder. Therefore, more initial grip. You are driving on wet surface, which is less favorable when launching higher powered lighter weight vehicle.

    I've been trying to figure out what went wrong but it may be because brake torquing the hyundai reduces it's power. not sure why but it does.

    Santa Fe sport is an awesome awesome drive, and is a nicer ride than the sorrento, sorrento feels like a cheap knockoff
    SantaFe sport directly compares to suvs in a much higher price bracket ignorance is bliss on here

      @jaredshelton4718 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Have you even driven the Sorento? No, because they're on the same platform. So if you drove the Sorento you would know that they ride exactly the same and the Kia has a better feeling interior.

    I recently drove both the Kia Optima and a Hyundai Santa Fe and I can honestly say that I've never been so bored behind the wheel. My '76 Chevette was more fun! It had direct manual steering. If Hyundai becomes the first manufacturer to produce an all autonomously driving vehicle there will be no loss in driving pleasure from their products!

    • @jaredshelton4718

      Because LED lights are never constant, but to the human eye they appear to be a solid light, and poor cameras cannot pick up that solid light so they flicker, they're fine in person.

      LMAO you guys lack the inability to intelectually make as statement based on logic using facts. Clearly you neither own both vehicles or driven them.
      I made my opinion on facts. These two automobiles can't compared a true SUV like the Jeep. there's no comparision.
      Mater of fact, it wouldn't be able to offroad its way out of the local park.
      I'ts Kia poor attempt at copying a true SUV.
      End of story.

      aky19832001 There's no question the capability of a Grand Cherokee....BUT they're a lease only car at best. True Delta, Consumer Reports, ect. have shown that they are not reliable. How many times is Chrysler going to recall them because of electrical fires in the headliners? Wk2jeeps has an entire list of TSB's and "customer satisfaction" notices listed there; it's not pretty.

    45K for a Kia? Ridiculous. Last week I saw on the VW dealership lot a brand new 2015 Touareg Diesel, retailing for 53K, but they were offering 5K off. For 48K it is a way better SUV than that KIA is even if it had less features. Granted, you might be able to find the KIA cheaper too, but that KIA is still priced close to some premium SUV's. I think 40K loaded would be more appropriate.

      That KIA sorento fully loaded for 43k is not ridiculous Because of all the luxury am entities your getting and good looks and the warranty that price is good. The KIA is worth it at that price. Luxury SUVs would cost twice as much with the same stuff this KIA has.

    • @yippie6862
      @yippie6862 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Alex Razmjookhah It's ridiculous to add in a bunch of high end features to a SUV that is basically a low/mid-level SUV. KIA can dress it up, price it up all it wants to, but underneath it is still the same low/mid level SUV. I'd rather have an SUV like a BMW X3 with almost no added features for the same price than that fully loaded KIA. Features don't make an SUV better, design and engineering do. Features are only dressings. The rest of the SUV, 90%, is where it really counts. The BMW is way better made and engineered overall.

    • @BattleOverride856
      @BattleOverride856 9 ปีที่แล้ว
