Great video! Personally, I wouldn't use the OXO method to initially secure the line to the cleat, but I find it to be a faster and safer option, especially for protecting fingers, making it ideal for beginners in harsh wind conditions. However, for long-term security, the cleat hitch is clearly the better choice. For anyone interested in a detailed comparison of both methods, I recommend checking out the video "Boat Docking Options Compared - OXO vs. Cleat Hitch." It does a great job of illustrating the pros and cons. For example, the OXO method is safer and easier to untie under load, while the cleat hitch is better for rope efficiency and reduces wear on the cleat. Thanks again for sharing this-it's a valuable resource for boaters!
I like your channel, how you give balanced opinions, and I can see you have true experience! I think OXO is only worse for not being as secure in long term, but I like how much easier it is to open.
Great video 🤙🏻 I personally prefer the cleat hitch, but to others and newbies in the crew, I always show some OXO because it's way easier and less of them screw it up 😁 when I tought newbies a cleat hitch during the briefing, they made more mess than when I told them to "write" an OXO with the rope around the cleat :))
For a final knot, I prefer the cleat hitch. But, many times, you make a few temporary knots before the final tie-up. The initial quick tie-up of the windward line, for example. The boat is still moving, you know you're going to adjust it in a second. The OXO in this situation is more flexible and quicker since you don't lock, you just give an extra round turn in the end. Does this sound reasonable?

That's it, perfect! 👍❤️
Every technique has pros and cons. Learn them all and use the proper one in the right moment.
Thx.

Absolutely, I do it like that all the time 👌
