Why does the screen on yours look so much better? Did you configure it in any specific way? Yours seems sharp like I can actually see the pixels. Mine's just blurry.
Honestly they're not great screen, I think it's just a side effect of exporting it or something. Fiddling with the settings on the top right of the device can help but not that much honestly. Going to be doing another video on this subject soon.
technically? Yes, it's almost certainly possible. The difficulty you'd have is finding a 4:3 screen to replace it with. Most of the screens out there are at least 16:9, plus you've then got to try and match the 54-pin screen that is in the unit and most 4:3 IPS screens are 40 pin which might make it a bit difficult. There has been some discussion online about converting it through the HDMI port but ngl that's a complicated procedure. It would probably be easier to just straight up buy a Raspberry Pi kit and make one better for yourself.
vimeo.com/293888297 Someone actually did have some limited success with this modification using an LCD and an HDMI converter. Unfortunately in his forum posts, he not only stated that it was a work in progress but also stated that there were numerous other factors to consider such as heat output and removing USB ports to make this work. It seems that the process for doing this is way more complicated than it seems like it's worth.
@@SonicLoveEmulation I'm going to be doing a video soon about all the different options concerning how it's best to play different retro games on dedicated hardware. Just waiting for a response from a friend of mine on Instagram. Might be worth taking a look at that once it comes out next month.
I don't have much experience with the 2 I'm afraid but if the OS is still as shaky as it was then it's more than likely you got a boot failure. If you turn it on and it doesn't get past that screen you're unfortunately going to have to reinstall the system again, which is a common occurrence whenever you do anything other than keep it in either handheld or TV mode.
Mupple I did reinstall the img file and nothing change... I hope I did not get a fault console. I support the kickstarter to get one. I open file manager to see if I can copy it from one panel to the other.. no luck either..
That's a bit of an unusual one. All I can recommend is that you might have to re-install the OS again. What's happening when you click Desktop? Is it not doing anything at all or is it doing 'something' and then freezing?
Mupple ya it’s freezes then allows me to choose yes or no again the music stops like it’s trying to work lol I did try to download the os but on the site the retrostone os is not working when you click on it to download! I tried the lite version but it’s dose not have the option to use desktop, I used a different sd card so I have the 4.2 full os on it but ya the desktop dose not seem to be working! Can I plug a ether net cable and do it that way?
Highly doubt this'll be seen. Especially after 4 years. I have the same machine you have. However, I keep getting hung up on 1 of 2 screens. Solid black, or a black screen with lines of code but remaining stationary. I have tried "cleaning" and reimaging numerous times yet to no avail. Any tips?
If it's repeatedly failing have you tried using different SD cards yet? If you're following the steps and it's not a newer/different model or anything then the only culprits as far as I know would be hardware-based. Hopefully, that means it's your SD card, otherwise you might have to contact the manufacturer for a full-on refund/repair I'm afraid.
This system is garbage, I recieved mine just after xmas, was doa died after an hour. Opened a ticket on the site, created a topic on forums, sent 3 emails, and no reply at all. Stay away from this product!!!
What sort of booting issue have you had? The system does have a lot of issues with switching to and from HDMI mode as well as general boot issues. You can usually get them working again by reinstalling the OS from scratch but it's a huge pain in the ass. Just as an example I took mine on a trip and used it for like a week to play through resi 3 and Dino crisis but by the end of the week it crashed into a boot loop and I had to reinstall when I got home just to be able to use the bloody thing. Hopefully you can at least get yours working. Does it still turn on at all? Does it just turn on then make a clicking noises and keep restarting itself? If so a reinstall might help, but you also have to open it up and unsolder a small transistor to help prevent boot issues. Having said that I have done this and it can still boot loop it's just rarer. There are videos out there to show how to sort it but if you'd find it helpful I can do a follow up to discuss some of the common issues and how to fix or work around them. Hope you can sort your device my dude. - W
Hmm, what happens if you plug a hdmi in before booting? Does the TV screen show any error messages? Have you seen the hardware fix video put out by the guy who made it ? That might help you but I'm not entirely sure.
Same here, cannot wait to replay my handled classics on it, the gameboy, lynx and gamegear... Back to the 90s!!!

Is it possible to upgrade the screen to a ips display with higher resolution?

Mupple agreed, I find it a bit strange how the new v2 had a downgrade in chip set...I feel they do it deliberately lol still going to get it though
