- I remember picking up Four Swords Adventures at a local Blockbuster, but little did I know it was missing a game mode. In fact, everyone who wasn't in Japan or Korea was missing a mode called Navi Trackers. But why? Why would Nintendo remove an entire game mode? Well now it's time to find out! ...or not. Really, it's all just a theory. A theory on a game... A game theory.

I still wish that Tetra's/Navi's Trackers was actually localized. I would have loved to play that.
+Reeveelution Well you could buy a Disk that bypasses Region lock on the GameCube and yes Nintendo did make the Disk but it cost like about $100-$200, but once you get that you can play the entire GameCube library for cheap manly because Japanese games cost less than US games.

yep... They could have not authorized the player to choose his name (and name him 1, 2, 3 or else) prerecorded some lines with different intonation and that would have done the trick

No need to mention Australia separately when it comes to game versions. Game companies don't give a damn about us, so they just give us the European version with a different cover. Which means yes, our games a released late so they can add in French, German and other languages that no one in Australia speaks.
Good explanation about the differences between Japanese and English vowels too, as an English teacher in Japan, this resonates with me.
Well, the only one he didn't mention is the Korean version, which DOES include Navi Trackers. However, the fact that the Korean trailer shows Japanese text in the game footage (trailer-exclusive text is in Korean) makes it look like they got lazy (it was released much later than the other translations, so there's really no excuse).
Those are a special case. For us Aussies, we normally get thrown the European version. Sometimes they get really lazy and not even bother printing up a new cover, they just slap a Australian rating sticker overtop of the European one.
Kind makes up for the often close to a year delay in game releases doesn't it?

Yes. If the NX has that mobile connectivity, mobile devices as the GBAs. Load the NX app, connect to your console (or log on the console as a Guest) and start the game (4Swords).
They should've done the same thing with Windwaker HD for the tingle tuner

Actually, Link's sprite in Four Swords for Gameboy Advance and Gamecube, are both simply palette swaps of Link's sprite from The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap
Cr33p3rKid the GBA version of Four Swords came out first (with ALTTP GBA) so the sprites were specially created for that. Minish Cap inherited the style.

The amount of research you do for these videos is incredible! It's really awesome to see how all these weird mysteries surround Nintendo games during the 90s and early 2000s, whereas these days everything is just spoonfed to the public. Keep up the great work!!!

I was really hoping for Nintendo to remake this game on the Wii U with the 3DS's being similar like the game boys and the gamepad to be used like a 3DS as well, or for single player.
And to add Navi's trackers as well. I would buy that game in a heartbeat.
I mean it'd be easy and beautiful to see this game a full HD.
I wish that the “10th anniversary” edition of the original Four Swords was available for download. It had a single player option. But it was only available for a limited time and it has never come up again.

I LOVED THIS GAME! I always want to hook up my Gamecube and play it again. Fingers crossed for some kind of rerelease.
I loved this game when I was younger!! I would always play by my self because I was the only friend with a gab to GC connector
I actually did play multiplayer on this game. It seems like so few people actually have. Probably because no one's willing to gather multiple gameboy/GameCube adapters or even multiple gameboys. But my brother in law is awesome and gathered four connectors and two gameboys. Then, with my two gameboys we were able to play with his wife and my younger sister and it's always so much fun.

Ah, I used to love this game…My older brother gave our copy to a friend, and to this day I still miss it lmao…Using that flame rod and burning entire fields for force gems hit different

The description, I was about to think you made a reference to Game Theorists xD
I loved Four Swords Adventure growing up! It was basically my introduction to the zelda franchise in my early teens. Between me and my siblings (Who where all born relatively close in age) there were 4 of us, and when you have 4 sibs, it's not that hard to each save up some chore money to each buy a GBA-NGC Cable, and being kids we all basically had our own GBA's/SP's or various hand-me-down versions, so it wasn't as painful to play because we always had each other!
I legitimately feel bad when meeting another zelda fan and having the wonderful "Which is the best Zelda game?" talk and usually they either haven't played four swords or did, but didn't enjoy playing it alone. It's sometimes sad when you say "I can see why you didn't enjoy it, but I still think it's the best because4 of the experience with my sibs it gave me. I also enjoyed Final FAntasy Crystal Chronicals the same way.
There should be a Four Swords game for the Wii U that uses the same system that Kirby and the Amazing Mirror used, where you control one Link and the other 3 go out into the world and can even end up fighting or even beating bosses and you can use the Triforce or some other item to summon the other 3 Links to your location so they can help you.

I feel so sad that you didn't get to play for your friends. This gave me such nostaliga for playing this game with all of my friends back in the day. Now we almost never play video games together and usually end up playing our own favorite genres or single player games. Maybe I can get everyone to bust out the gamecube for old times sake.

Maybe if they did include Navi's Trackers in the other versions, they could refer to the Links as Green, Blue, Red, and Purple (or Vio), similar to how they do in the Four Swords manga.
I personally like this game over all other zelda games, this game is from my childhood, and is one of my favorite, my favorite game of all time was Sonic Advanced 3 for GameBoy Advance, it was the first game i ever owned, or played, i have completed it 49 times, i still have it today, and i bought a GameBoy Advance SP after i lost my Gameboy Advanced on the bus, souley for the fun of playing Sonic Advance 3, and because i couldn't find any GameBoy Advance systems of the same quality.

the shield item probably would've worked like how it did in the original Four Swords where you start every level with it and you can block almost anything when using it

I just realized that the unused French string about the allies turning into a sword could most likely reference how in Four Swords, the other 3 Links were made when Link pulled out the Four Sword (atleast, as far as I remember). So maybe it was planned for you to just be able to turn your allies back into the Four Sword?

This was such an awesome game, my brother and I bought a GBA to GC cord just to play this game together, best summer ever. I Really stoked on Triforce Heroes! This made me think of the Mini game in Phantom Hourglass, that it was originally multiplayer... kinda

i still have this on my gamecube, i only played it for like an hour on my own (wasn't so fun) and when i managed to get some friends together with GBAs and link cables, we only ever played it the once.
There is something so surreal about these navi's trackers cutscenes, is like watching a sfm made by nintendo

Well, the first time I saw the "T shield", I tough it was the fire shield from ALttP, but the shield is more a "V" than a "T". What I can say, it's I think it's a test shield, because you take any shield from TLoZ, it is more detailled and have, like shade etc. This one is only red and white, so I think it was not a permenant sword. Or, it can be an upgraded fire shield or even a new shield who was abaddoned until his creation, so the design is here, but is not detailled and used. Anyway, thanks for that video Beta64, I love Four Swords and I think I will love Triforce Heroes!

four swords came bundled with link to the past for the gamboy advance and in link to the past you could enchant your shielt and it turned to the color red and had a t.

I think you may have gotten the beta of the original Four Swords mixed up with the beta of adventures at some points, I remember seeing a GBA magazine long ago showing pictures of what looked like the original ALTTP but with four players for the article about Four Swords GBA, and that was before adventures was even being made.
I actually prefer the Beta look over the final version, but I think the only reason I say that is considering I loved A Link to the Past. Either way, I would have loved to play the older version a lot!
