Not sure which models you're looking at (i.e. baseline or with extras) and what currency, but in Aus the base 911 GTS starts at $310,000, and the base RS4 starts at $154k. The Porsche is literally double the price, and barely even beat the Audi. Unless money is no object, and your primary goal is aesthetics/status, then you'd have to be insane to go for the Porsche.

Its not about which car you would choose over the other. Most people don't choose between a 2 door coupe or an estate car, if you need an estate you won't buy a 2 door coupe. Most people (or those with wife and kids at least) who have a 911 will also have a practical family car. In terms of the actual drag race, why didn't they use the 4wd GTS? That would have been interesting to see.
I remember when Porsche was trying to buy VW and then suddenly it was turned around. It was the chairman of Porsche and his money guy who had initiated that potential buyout. There were other aspects to this deal but it wasn't as simple as VW coming to the rescue of Porsche. At least Porsche was able to continue on with maintaining its reputation as a leader of sports car manufacturing.

The RS4 doesn't fit the bill as a sleeper in any way. I mean, look at the trim/styling of the thing. It screams "I might be an estate, but I am no doubt built for speed".

Audi is definitely not the most practical car. Fiat multipla is more practical because it will have 300% less electric issues. And its not aggressive at all. Compare it to bmw. Bmw is much more aggressive. And its not really sporty.

They’re both for different purposes. The 911 gts is a track oriented car not necessarily a straight line performance car. Although it seems sort of close in this comparison the 911 would monster the Audi on any twisty road
You know, that the Porsche PDK is a dual clutch gearbox, which is by definition not a Automatic gearbox. It's a Semi-Automatic gearbox. The Audi RS4 has an 8 speed Automatic gearbox. Also the Audi has NO launch control. The only thing you can do to start quicker is to hold the brake and then put your foot on the throttle to pump oil through the torque converter. This generates pressure and as soon as you release the brake, you get off instantly. In the Porsche with the dual clutch gearbox, there is a launch control. In this program the ECU of the gearbox closes the clutch of the first gear as quick as possible. But this always takes some time (suchas in a car with a manual gearbox) to to engage the clutch. That's the reason, why the heavier RS4 is faster at the start. At high speeds the Porsche comes back, because of its lighter weight, better aerodynamic shape and the faster shifting dual clutch gearbox.
In the stats comparison in the beginning (he mentioned it later) you should also include 'weight' of the cars. Weight has a critical impact on performance.
The GTS is basically a S with the wider body, little bit more power and very nicely speced. So, if you are considering a fully loaded S, the GTS is a better deal.

The Audi was going to win at the launch, obviously, thanks to the Quattro system comparing the rwd of the Porsche. Nevertheless it's awesome to watch that race and both of them are really great cars, each one has a particular feature over the other. Excellent video as always.

Audi did quite well. The gearbox is fine, it even showed an advantage at the launch. But the porche is much better suited for driving hard, with bigger brakes, less weight and more efficient gearbox, stiffer chassis and probability the suspension too.

I have the SQ7 and the gearbox even in sport mode is not great. On paddles though it's a lot better so your issues in the RS4 on the rolling race didn't surprise me.

Much better if they plough into the back of you because they don't notice you're braking really hard. You're even driven on the autobahn where this kind of system is very useful, maybe it's not needed for the terrible British roads but for long stretches of higher speed cruising on a good highway system I can tell you as I've been that car behind a few times it's extremely useful.
The gearbox obviously plays an important part but I can't believe the aerodynamics aren't mentioned. At those speeds the Porker would definitely have less drag too.
