@TheHondaTuner There is a project called the KR-Z, where they replaced the guts with a k-20. However, don't discount the hybrid power plant. Bisimoto has already proven that it is capable of a huge bump in performance, all while staying a hybrid and maintaining good mpg. On top of that, the electric motor assist gives the default power plant a lot of torque in the low end, something Honda engines typically struggle with.
You shouldn't insult the Civic like this, as many petrolheads and car owners love their babies and calling a car - no matter which one - shit is just something a true car enthusiast wouldn't do. Especially a car that really isn't that bad by any means, like the Civic.
I guess this is what you get when you compare a stock car to a fully modded one. Generally, this is the result. The only think I got from this comparison is that the CR-Z has good potential for tuning.
I think a lot of people don't understand spoon is a tuning company for Honda, and they do a fn2 spoon which has the same mods and 40hp extra, there would be a huge difference then.
1 - that "shit" Civic is far from a race car, its a sports hatch for the soft EDM 2 - You are comparing tuned, lighter and nimble car with less power on a very low speed track, with a car built for speed. I doubt that the FN2 will lose on Tsukuba(for example) 3 - The "shitty" FN2 still does a Nurburgring lap for 7:43 FN2 is the least loved Civic from the honda fans, but lets be objective, it is not bad or slow.
Lets not beat around the bush the FN2 posts quicker times than a DC5 and EP3 around most UK tracks and Tsukuba. The Mugen 2.2 FN2 is also the quickest FWD car driven on Silverstone...
@@genericcarchannel Fn2 has 5.1 final drive, lighter flywheel, makes peak torque and hp earlier than Ep3 and has a better FR weight distribution than Ep3. In a straight line it is pretty even but on track fn2 wins all days of the week. The beam rear axle makes no difference to on track performance. In fact, both the Renault Megane and Fk2 Type R, which were at one point the fastest fwd cars around the nurburgring, both have rear beam axles. Honda won 3 British touring car championships with the fn shaped civic. It is not that flawed.
@TheHondaTuner Because you could bump the power up, and I reckon your crx is rusting around the rear wheel arches pretty well by now. I know I had an 88 CRX dx for many years, great car, but its old now.
@WoohyunJinki Exactly. It's a very twisty circuit they are testing it on. Put them on somewhere like Silverstone and it would be a different story. No taking away from the Spoon CR-Z, but Vs the Spoon FN2 it wouldn't stand a chance on any circuit.
crz looks hott. and it beating FN2 in corners, very good, it is beating it where the supercharger matters the least, so all the idiots going on about the supercharger can stfu now. crz stock is tremendously underpowered compared to civic type r so its only fair. crz looks better by a mile and can be made to be better full stop.
but there's a spoon version of the fn2, on the straight the fn2 is faster as the driver says. so if you had the spoon version of the fn2 with the same mods and has an extra 40hp there would be no competition.
The fn2 is the best type r ever made, everyone who knows fuck all about cars just believes anything top gear says, clarkson just dissed it because honda refused to pay him for the review. I bought the newer fn2 with lsd over the ep3 which is just a toy not a properly built car.
how many people hating the fn2 have actually owned or driven one? okay its no ek9 but it still beats the shit out of 99 percent of hot hatches in terms of quality and general driving feel cant fuck with a k20
Quite like both cars, but not really surprised the CR-Z is faster - it's a tuned car on a very twisty track where the CTR can't use the extra 50bhp-odd it has.
hahaha someone hates civic type r because of what clarckson said... comparing a fully build crz by spoon to stock fn2 is not fair mate try spoon fn2 next time
Amazingly, a little car sitting on suspension worth a 15% the entire car, on whatever sticky compound Spoon chose to use, is quicker than some regular Bridgestones. Nobody liked this Type R, but come off it.
The performance of the CR-Z can probably be 90% attributed to aggressive camber and tires. Match that on the euro-R and it would be a fair battle. The guys at Hot Version know this. This video was a joke.
Of course the FN2 is better than the CRZ, but it just show the potential/missed opportunity from honda of the car that was meant to be a sport hybrid. And nothing beat the sound of a dohc vtec engine.
Who says a FN2 Type R is a race car??? This Spoon CR-Z is much more race car! And btw...how much Horsepower has this CRZ? I drive it already, it has a good handling but stock much softer suspension setup than a FN2 and much less power!!! This comparison lacks totaly in objectivity!!!
FN2 isn't actually that bad,its...okay I guess and a bit of tuning on that car would be fine!If you're a true enthusiast, you would've respected the FN2 in some ways. Its not the worst sports car ever.
ahhaha tuned car vs factory tuned car... yeah right.. spoon crz cost more then fn2r... btw why dont they put a race between spoon crz vs mugen fn2r.. i think that will be a more fair race..
lol its only under 1s slower.. and its still only normal Street car.. Not bad. If u want to take typeR euro in racing tracks just add better susbensions and some extra HP, u should take back sest of (its alone -30kg)
thats wat made it fun..... honda always left the rest to the tuner..... FN2 probably not the best car..... but if u put cars like ek9. ep3..... sure it is going to be awsome... one thing that i realize is Honda didnt produce high rev engine anymore... For them who said that Honda didnt up their level, think again This is the time where honda will start another revolution just like what they did before, RACING HYBRID is on.
Like comparing a Top Fuel Dragster with a stock Zo6. And this course is horriblyyyy in favor of the less power/tighter handling CRZ.....let it have a big straight and faster corners like Tsukuba....be a different story
The ep3 was a wicked car. Then honda went cheap and created the new civic-r. The older generation of civic is faster in straight line and on track. I've lost faith in Honda.......
@TheHondaTuner YES, now learn how to splle, and the k20 totally unbalances the car. Why is everyone so against the drive line in this car? Is it because you are afraid of something you don't understand? Buy one and tweak it, this car has potential in ways you have never seen yet.
if you search Fifth Gear - Fiat Panda 100HP vs. Ferrari 360 Modena you will see what i was talking about at the end of my comment. obviously both are stock cars compared to the best motoring video but they are both racing on very similar tracks short with half the track being corners.
@polarisoctane Nope it was but now its 100% Rustless. Anywhere. Still i think a CRZ is a "joke" as most people would say in germany. They dont like Honda anyway but at least a CRX is respected as a classic and its still faster :P
they should STOP letting Europe make the CTRs. Maybe the usa should get a chance. Or to save money, they should just give the usa the same tools and parts and make the ctr here in the usa.
@cpz4civ u right! the FN2 just suxx i was happy i got one of the last EP3 in my county 2007-2009 we dont have new CTR... an on 2009 the FN2 comes out an failed XD but i think i will change my EP3 + MB2 if CR-Z Type R is out here i want back my old CRX Vtec :(
Ok so lets buy a car modify it so it has more performance than a stock car and then race them... wonder who would win? Spoon have an FN2 and I garentee the Spoon FN2 would kill the Spoon CRZ around a track.
@camberwear I agree with you on that. the civic type-r euro is a piece of junk compared to the jdm CTR, most likely the reason they didn't use the jdm ctr or itr due to the fact they would destroy the cr-z. the civic is also a stock car compared to the cr-z which has been moded from wheels, weight, power most likely 122whp, and knowing spoon body has been improved upon. also the cr-z has less power and weight meaning it could run the track basically going WOT while the civic could not.
The FN2 is a more comfortable and well equipped Type R. It’s ok if you want toys but as a drivers car it’s underwhelming. If you want a proper Type R that can still be used everyday with relative comfort get an EP3. A future classic which will only climb in value
@musicmanvin1 Yeah but by the time the ozone layer runs out, I'll already be dead XD. Becides the CR-Z or any of these hybrids arent saving anything, they are just slowing down the process by a small degree. And its not like a significant percent of us are using hybrids anyways.
Well I'm somewhat impressed in the CRZ. I think had it been a track with more straights than corners or higher speed course then it might've gone the other way.
こんな気持ちいい動画があったとは!

Fn2 is not bad car the problem is it is heavier then the other type r
damn the CR-Z is so quiet on the road.. yet pretty fast

This guys are True race car drivers
You just butthurt Crz is a better car
@@hondamanvtec2894 If that is true, then why did Honda cancel the CR-Z?
Fn2 is a beasty little pocket rocket that you could live with every day
I guess this is what you get when you compare a stock car to a fully modded one. Generally, this is the result. The only think I got from this comparison is that the CR-Z has good potential for tuning.
the fn2 spoon would win, that's a mental car.
狭いサーキットだから勝てたんだろうね。
でも、キビキビ走るね!
I think a lot of people don't understand spoon is a tuning company for Honda, and they do a fn2 spoon which has the same mods and 40hp extra, there would be a huge difference then.
Would love to know what kind of MPG the CR-Z gets with all the add-ons.
1 - that "shit" Civic is far from a race car, its a sports hatch for the soft EDM

i still like the screaming civic. those high revs are so pure
Why does it look like "Most Extreme Elimination Challenge"???
Lets not beat around the bush the FN2 posts quicker times than a DC5 and EP3 around most UK tracks and Tsukuba.
The Mugen 2.2 FN2 is also the quickest FWD car driven on Silverstone...
Yeah i agree with you
In what world is the stock fn2 faster than a ep3 its heavier has a beam rear axle and only 1 more horse power over the ep3
@@genericcarchannel Fn2 has 5.1 final drive, lighter flywheel, makes peak torque and hp earlier than Ep3 and has a better FR weight distribution than Ep3. In a straight line it is pretty even but on track fn2 wins all days of the week.

Which modifications have the spoon vs a normal crz version?
CRZ turns insanely, once you turn it will stick into that and follow the line, that really surprised me, amazing.
Calling a type R shit without actually driving it...
@TheHondaTuner Because you could bump the power up, and I reckon your crx is rusting around the rear wheel arches pretty well by now.

i had ep3 and i had fn2 and id take fn2 any day over it
@KatiushaVN4 a STANDARD car, against a SPOON tuned car? what you expect?
the SPOON tune'd CRZ looks very stable, and easy to drive
These guys are professionals what are you talking about? The type r doesn't have good handling as you can tell by his reactions of the under steer.
Trying to save the ozone layer?? I thought they already stopped using R12 in automotive airconditioning systems????
I suppose power doesn't always decides the winner~~

Unfortunately it's not the K20A.Tamer middle K20
The WISEMEN's LOGIC >> 2.0L TYPE-R TYPE-R TYPE-R (Stock) VS 1.5L ECO Hybrid (Tuned) >>> CRZ won, Unfair... but 1.5L ECO Hybrid (Tuned) vs 2.0L TYPE-R TYPE-R TYPE-R (TUNED) >>> CRZ loss, fair and square... WISEMEN's LOGIC FTW!!!
that is stock CR-z ?
The fn2 civic type R lapped tsukuba in 1:12, The CR-Z lapped it in 1:15
Try putting the spoon type R against that spoon CRZ..

01:59 idc what you say but the sound of that v-tech + down shifts makes me hnnng. I'll take the CR-Z , though.
i found crz always use hand brake , and i think fn2 may be not using hand brake when cornering. so not fair result.
The difference? The CRZ is Made In Japan and the FN2 is made in Swindon (UK) 😅 Enough said.
either Honda is iconic
What's so special about a Civic type-r Euro? Was it built to handle the Autobahn or something?
does the crz have vtec just wondering

@ooisoonhan what ep3 ? its a FN2 !
stock car vs spoon tuned crz, not exactly a fair assesment.
comparing Type-R 2.0 K20 to 1.5 hybrid isn't fair as well =.=
I ehh... I pretty much think the FN has no LSD... even if it has the K20 in it. The K20 (FN) has been build with and without the LSD.
Thats fair... a stock car vs a tuned car.. with the tuned car being used by DK... sure... so fair
