Yes it would. Especially considering that EK was track-prepped unlike other cars in the field (most were either demo or personal cars, like Keiichi's NSX for example).
@dc2rSpoon - The DC2 has a cross-ratio gear set and doesn't need to redline because the close ratios don't allow the revs to drop below the engines peak power range.
From my point of view, the DC2 driver Orido shifts up around 8k rpm because of it's crossed mission (very closed ratio gearings). The car is suppose to run and maintain in the power band without touching 9k rpm. Making it run fast and match a heavier modified engine. Even though it looks like the reving is fast, the downsizes are the driver will need to shift up like crazy, which is distracting, especially when the ratios doesn't seemed to match this track. Power can't follow through smoothly.
reving the motor that high is not necessary. .for example cars on dyno. .if u guys notice dyno sheets say 200hp at 8000 rpm. .then theres no point reving a motor pass 8000, cause the max power comes at 8000. .
RG-O should have won both races...both times he advanced 1 spot, and both times he made a mistake which cost him another spot, so in a nutshell he could have had at least a chance to pass Keiichi in DC5 and/or hold his spot against Keiichi in NSX.
maybe the car is tuned to produce more power at the rpm range? after all this vid isnt full without specs to whats the cars torque and horsepower and stuff
maybe the reason he doesnt "redline" is because the engine was bored out...in other words it has a stroker kit, therefore the redline was reduced, but bottom end torque increased......probably
New generation honda with a piece of crap suspension system can never beat old generation ef, eg ,ek civics, and they are amazingly well in tight turns, even an FR cars will have a hard time battling them on track or touge.
No, the FD2R's Suspension is pretty well set up. Only trouble is because these days, Hondas are more interested in making Saloons rather than Hot Hatches like they used to, modern-gen Hondas have became more heavier with a longer wheelbase and probably wider body.
Kay Zaki Wong Actually it's because those olders cars are usually tuned a bit more with more weight reduction. EK9's and EG6's get stripped out... while with newer Honda's I guess they are less likely to be stripped out. I guess people are more reluctant in stripping out a newer car.
Dang their age is getting old, but their spirit and passion for driving and tuning remains forever inside them up until today! Amazing drivers!

its amazing how all the old cars are up front lol and you gotta love the ek9. v-tec ftw
That FD2 sounds amazing!!
DC5 Interior looks great, only second to that of the NSX
@dc2rSpoon - The DC2 has a cross-ratio gear set and doesn't need to redline because the close ratios don't allow the revs to drop below the engines peak power range.
@RacsQT is necessary cuz when you shift to a higer gear the revs go down and you want to keep the engine on top of tha powercuve
Got to love that Torque-less start 😂 and then Boom!!!! VTEC!!! BWWAAAHHHH!!!!!
the cam on the fn2 sounds mental

the biggest advantage the nsx has is its v6 and a perfect gear ratio. The tq just picks up the car and go.
where u shift usually depends on the powerband and where the power is made.

EK9!!! Oh you sound so good baby.
EK9 was a beast. too bad about the accident..
@zaiboy1 the ek is a b18c look the first heat then u see the specs ;) b18c 220 hp
6:29 was the best part for me :)
Hahaha the nsx was nice to slow down XD
yeah i noticed it too but it's not a problem because the car is goddame fast!
I want a NSX-R!
Thats what i noticed too. Why does Orido shift so early and never redlines the ITR?
RG-O should have won both races...both times he advanced 1 spot, and both times he made a mistake which cost him another spot, so in a nutshell he could have had at least a chance to pass Keiichi in DC5 and/or hold his spot against Keiichi in NSX.
dam... all out racing!
maybe the car is tuned to produce more power at the rpm range? after all this vid isnt full without specs to whats the cars torque and horsepower and stuff
i left my game to watch this video
@zaiboy1 think about the power to weight ratio too..
maybe the reason he doesnt "redline" is because the engine was bored out...in other words it has a stroker kit, therefore the redline was reduced, but bottom end torque increased......probably
@RacsQT only if it has runing on a uphill...
dang, they're going fast as heck. Like if you know what mph you are at when you shift to 4th gear and redlining every gear.
@209SpoonEK9 : Thanks for clarifying this :)
"I drive a 370Z which very capable of stomping the lap time."
Yes you did.
its would of been sick to see the ek beat the nsx
wow the ceo of spoon was racing too ?!
This track is badass anybody know the name of it?
this is awesome
B18c makes max power at 8k RPM, probably why hes shifting earlier.
what track is this though?
Vtec,we trust
and the driver of the civic fd2 switches back and inhibits it seems on the engine
vtec rulez..i like dc2
@TakumiFuji01 ok no prob :)
6:47 is funny, nsx is king
Fd2 -3
TH-camで見ちゃってますw
Maze Circuit Japan
6:06, his trying to drift a fwd car :))
@dc2rSpoon maybe the owner aviced him to o so.
even orida shift to early....the ctr can't keep up......weird
Japan rules

No Racial, but the first dude looks like Jackie Chan.. LOl. I'm asian also so yeah..
Fujitsubo powergetter on ek9
The blue DC2 was weak. Very understeery & didn’t rev properly
maybe its B20 engine
FD2's sound is *.*
そうだよユーチューブで見てるよ!(笑)
Fuck that Fd2 is loud
fuk that ek civic pretty fast
That ek has problems.. Could have won both races smh
Your 370z might beat them in a straight line. But definitely not in the corners. You'd get destroyed especially on a track this tight.
Weird, I find most V8s sound like tractors...
s2000 Type R ..? lol
