Thank you!!! It’s all very confusing and I’m doing my best to learn about it. I have this mutation and have dealt with depression all my life.

Look into whether you're undermethylated or overmethylated before starting methylfolate.

Good morning, do you know what the reoccurrence is for depression, for someone who has both gene types? I have one copy of both... depression is very overwhelming at times.

I fall into the c677t “tt” with childhood trama resulting in complexPTSD later developing Functional neurological disorder with PNES. (Mouth full) if there are ever any studies or questions I am 100% in. I would give just about anything to get better or at least help find answers that will help others.
I was taking L-methylfoliate 7.5 and it made a notable difference but my insurance stopped covering it at the same time we were going to increase the dosage. There is a huge difference in the level of depression I have had sense I have ran out of the medication. I’m hoping I can get it filled soon.

You can get methyl folate from MethylPro. It's the same stuff just doesn't require a prescription. It's $75 for 90 x 15mg capsules.

You can get it at Piping Rock for around 40.00 for 15 mg. Dosages.

Thankyou for talking about the supplementation of MTHF folate. With the analogy of scraping concrete.. I still cant figure out what is the best amount for me and my doctor said to stop taking it since she thinks I have enough when I dont feel well taking it. I get brain fog.

Yes I have seen that response before.

Hello dear Mandy, in my research on the MTHFR gene I found a number of medical articles saying that Methylfolate is been administered simultaneously with Methylcobalamin ( the active for of Vit B12) on patients even for Schizophrenia ( I am not aware of the type of symptoms you have that led you to investigate MTHFR mutations however good results are reported even for the diagnosis such as Bipolar Disorder and Schizophrenia with the use of Methylfolate together with Methylcobalamin as well with Riboflavin ( Vit B2), and Vit B 6. Hope that might help you. One of the world renovated experts on MTHFR mutations is Dr Ben Lynch with numerous lectures here on TH-cam on the matter. Good luck!

Thank you for this information. I work at a prison so i might be able to utilize some of this.

I mean a prison would be a great place to study potential benefits of diet on brain health. Or to find study subjects. Not that i am a doctor

Holy 🚢. Yep, cptsd squad here as well. Wanted to note for the females here I had a bad time with:
    - my pregancies never "dropped" = 2 csections
-a popular iud brand had a badddd reaction to my blood brain barrier. I was used to depression...but this was hopeless...felt weird. Thank Heavens my doc has an open mind as she used to not believe certain patients were extreme cases to have it removed. But she believed me. Groups on facebook echo other women who have this issue.
*God Bless everyone who doesn't. Also having a tilted uterus, PMDD, and so on- of course I wanted it to work.*
I could name off a ton of ways this plus other varients of trauma to the brain truly bytes. I wonder if this can contribute to growth stunting. My body seems like it's owed a few inches.
Thankful for open minded science so the future can have more understood outcomes.

Hi, thanks for the video. I don't know my mthfr genotype. Is there any harm in taking L-methylfolate anyway to see if it helps the symptoms?

    • @gatesbrainhealth2639

In my experience it is a delicate balance for some, while others are able to take larger doses without problem. I would recommend working with a healthcare professional who is familiar with MTHFR as it pertains to the brain.

What is the best anti-depressant to take if you have the MTHFR? I have been unable to find someone who will test me to see if I have the gene. However, because many in my family have it, I am guessing that I do.
Also, I have been taking L-5-MTHF and methyl B/12, will that give me an inaccurate result for homocysteine level check?

    • @gatesbrainhealth2639
      @gatesbrainhealth2639  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Taking MTHF and B12 in my experience will lower the Homocysteine in most cases. We do genetic testing if that is something you are interested in.
